I absolutely love this place! The worker is so friendly and the food is delicious! We ordered the garlic steak and it was so good! So darn good that We HAD to stop by the next night to order the chow fun and tofu! It was also very delicious! Prices are very reasonable and I’ve gotten full off of eating only half of my food. There is also different styles you can have your food prepared. Ive gotten mine Spicy garlic steak. Lol. You can also add on items; Mixed veggies, mushrooms, asparagus, and tons of others. ^.^ It’s located across the street from Don Q. we normally just park in the parking structure, order our food, and then wait in our car for our food to finish. I also love how I can see him preparing the food! It’s so fascinating. Hehe! If you’re ever in the area, you should DEFINITELY check them out. You won’t regret it. ^.^

We stopped by this food truck for a Saturday night dinner take out at around 7 pm. There were 2 people waiting before me. We had to wait for like 20 minutes for our order to get ready which is not bad. The dinner crowd was slowly picking up and by the time we left, there was around 5 people waiting for their orders. We ordered the garlic steak(with brown rice and organic greens) and the Yakisoba noodles with chicken. The rice quantity in the steak was way more than 2 scoops and the steak was on the chewy side. It was not very impressive. But the noodles was the surprise for us. It was very flavourful and had fresh and crunchy veggies. The chicken was so juicy and seasoned perfectly too. This was da bomb for us. Their signature dish the garlic steak was a let down. We would definitely come back to try their other items on the menu.

My mother-in-law brought me lunch from this place one day and I was very impressed! She bought a chicken plate and added mushrooms and a salmon plate, both with brown rice. The salmon was cooked perfectly! It was moist and the sauce had lots of flavor. The chicken tasted really good as well. I can’t remember how much she said each plate was but I’m pretty sure they were under $ 10 each, the salmon one being a little more expensive than the chicken. If I remember correctly it was only like $ 1 more. I would definitely takeout from this place again!

Best food truck restaurant ever! Chef Sang is awesome and all the food that he makes never disappoints me! I recommend the garlic steak and shrimp combo! The garlic sauce that he tops over the food is to die for! Can’t wait to go back tomorrow!

Love this truck, so thank goodness it parks in my neighborhood! Also cool– you can text in an order ahead of time! Otherwise, wait 5 – 10 minutes while the chef prepares it in front of you. A nice guy, with a nice helper too. I usually get garlic chicken, with brown rice. Love the bottle of green dressing(creamy Wasabi) for my spinach salad. When I am super hungry, I get a combo-two items. I have also had the garlic steak and calamari, both delicious. I am craving it now, but it’s 8:30AM on a Sunday, so maybe I should go find breakfast. Hmm, LikeLike. ..

Food is really good and definitely worth the price, food is made in front of you with fresh produce. They were really nice to us and even did a little show while cooking, definitely recommend it. We tried the garlic steak with mushrooms and the flavors were fantastic, we will be stoping by again and try more things next time. Thank you!

The truck just pulled up and there were already people waiting in line… including us! They have a small menu, but the selections all looked equally amazing! We ordered Garlic Steak(one of their top sellers). The other top seller is the Garlic Chicken. Each entrée came with rice and an organic salad. Xiang(spelling?) was such an artist. By that, I mean he cooks his food right in front of you very much like a hibachi cook! He is skillful with his cooking tools & puts on a pretty good show as he is preparing the food! The salad was a basic spinach salad, but when paired with their creamy wasabi or creamy spicy sauces… it went extremely well! The Garlic Steak was cooked to perfection. The garlic sauce was smothered all over the steak and I had it with white rice. I must say that this was quite tasty! I only have one small critique(and I don’t know if this can be fixed), but it would have been nice if the sauce was more caramelized to the steak. I don’t claim to be an expert when it comes to cooking, but I think that would have made the dish better. Would I come back? Absolutely! It’s not the best steak we’ve had on the island, but it definitely is a tasty one. Thank you!

Back in the day while going to school I was a busboy at Chaco’s Steakhouse which was one of the first, if not the first teppanyaki grill type of restaurants in Hawaii.(Even before Benihana) they were located right where Waialae meets Kapiolani on the Mauka side, a self– storage bldg is located there now– fond memories of my youth and that is where I was introduced to Teppanyaki type of cooking. Fast forward to 2016– in addition to a couple of teppanyaki type restaurants in Hawaii there are also food truck style teppanyaki offerings and on top of the heap is Iron Grill Hawaii. On a recent Saturday we went to Iron Grill to pick up dinner. Da boss decided to get the steak with green beans and mushrooms. I ordered the grilled shrimp. The orders come with organic greens and your choice of brown or white rice. Watching the chef grill the steak and shrimp brought back memories of Chaco’s Steak House. Expectations matched the actual taste. Yeah, was good! The steak was grilled perfectly and had a delicious sauce that came with it– the green beans and mushrooms, although at an additional cost was well worth it. The steak was tender and flavorful, although there were two small pieces that were tough, the plate was great. The organic greens were a nice compliment. They gave seven pieces of shrimp(number can vary depending upon size) bathed in a delicious garlic sauce. They are very generous with the rice servings. Will definitely make Iron Grill a go to place when we are in the mood for Teppanyaki. A great choice for informal dining.

Are you a fan of teppanyaki and/or Tanaka of Tokyo? Then you most definitely have to try out the awesome eats from this humble little food truck that parks itself on the street behind First Hawaiian Bank(Makaloa Street) for lunch or dinner between Don Quijote and its parking garage on Poni Street. Just like any typical Benihana or teppanyaki restaurant like Tanaka of Tokyo, Chef Seng, puts on a little bit of a show with some flair while he prepares your meal. He definitely puts on a little more flourish if he sees you capturing a photo or video but that’s half of the fun of going to a place like this for a meal! And to think he’s doing this in full sight of everyone that orders from his food truck on the street, and you can’t help but be dazzled and amazed! The food itself is decently priced for take out made in a food truck parked on a street. You can get your usual assortment of chicken, fish, shrimp or steak or a combination of the items for a little more. You can also order it with a variety of sauces such as teriyaki or even get it made with garlic. There’s also vegetable sides such as mushrooms or sliced peppers and garlic that can be added on a few little extra, you can even get brown rice or garlic fried rice too! How sweet is that? Personally, I order the garlic prime steak with garlic fried rice which is always on the money! Earlier this evening I had that exact order and decided to add on some mushrooms which made an already delicious meal even more awesome if you can believe that… As I mentioned earlier, Chef Seng prepares everything right before your eyes. Depending on the time of day and who is there and if people are taking photos or video he’ll put on a nice little show which is a treat. He often does the majority of the cooking himself and does it fairly quickly so you’re not waiting around. There’s usually an assistant helping him take orders and prepping some of the side dishes and handling the money so that things don’t get held up. The prices as I mentioned earlier are definitely reasonable considering the amount of food and the quality. It’s not often you can say that about food trucks, let alone sit down restaurants sometimes. One tricky thing with getting food from this food truck is knowing when and where it is, but this information is posted on their Instagram page at . The other rough part can be finding parking in and around Don Quijote but that’s easily rectified as there is usually a parallel parking stall that opens up as people come and go. The other alternative is that you can always go shopping in Don Quijote itself if you need to pick up some odds and ends while waiting for your food. As I mentioned earlier, if you’re a fan of Japanese food, Benihana-style restaurants, or teppanyaki then you NEED to check this food truck out. You won’t be disappointed at all!

A great food truck with fresh food cooked teppanyaki style. Not the cheapest but really tasty and well made. I usually get the garlic chicken.

How can you pass by this foodtruck without trying their food? Just from a distance, the smell coming from this foodtruck certainly lured us in! When we arrive, there were so many people ordering. While you wait for your food, you can watch the chef cook and listen to the music. Now how’s that for entertainment! When your food is ready, don’t forget to add dressing to your salad. There were different choices of dressing for you to choose from! The food was SOOOGOOD and the portion was HUGE! We could not finish our food because there was so much all in one plate! You know the saying, «You get what you paid for.» If you order here, you will DEFINITELY get your money’s worth! This place is a MUSTTRY and I’ll absolutely come back!

First of all they open at 12pm not 11:30. Chef forgot his garlic. HOWITPOSSIBLE?!? So no garlic rice, no shrimp, no garlic steak. Anyway I order steak with mushrooms and shrimp. But it was reaLy tasteless. Rice was kinda over cooked. Steak was like you chew paper. And shrimp without garlic meh.

Just moved into a condo down the street and noticed this truck driving home a couple times. Had to walk the dog and thought why not check it out. It was Thursday almost 1:00, so when there was no wait I was pretty relieved since I was starving and figured this is a popular spot for the Alamoana business folks to grab lunch. Ordered the spicy chicken, definitely tasty but not quite as good as I thought it’d be. Was expecting maybe one more level of flavor given how divine it smelled. Could have been the spice overpowering a tad bit but definitely not complaining about that(too often there’s always a need for juuust a bit more heat). Not the biggest fan of the celery too but you can’t beat the price and huge portion. Plus the people there were friendly which was great. Will definitely be back to try the udon noodles and one of the steaks.

A must!!! 5 stars!!! Amazingly delish!!! Savory goodness that I wish I could eat daily! I’ve been waiting to eat at Iron Grill for such a long time. I’ve always heard how amazing the food was and I was totally stoked to finally go! We called first to see what time they would be near Makaloa street and the Chef said around 5:30pm. Ok– so I’ve waited to eat their food for months now and I admit I was very anxious and excited so yes, I was first in line.(I didn’t realize they don’t open until 6pm!) The Chef was so awesome, it really seems like he’s the type to do anything for his customers. He was so gracious and kindly asked what we would like to order. The most awesome thing is that as he was creatively cooking our food, he gave us a little«Benihana» show– twirling his fork and knife. Too cute! His assistant was telling us about the different sauces that we could add to our dish– a creamy wasabi, garlic aioli, ponzu… oh yum! Ok so now it was time to try the dishes! We ordered the garlic shrimp, garlic chicken, garlic steak, and chicken udon. Holy smokes! The garlic shrimp is probably one of the best shrimp dishes I have ever had. Yes, better than the north shore shrimp trucks! The flavor of garlic, a bit of ginger, and whatever sauce he used was amazing! I can’t believe I’m going to admit this, but I inhaled the shrimp, rice and spinach salad in less than 10 mins. Yes, it was that good! The other dishes were also spectacular– but since I’m the seafood eater in the fam, I stuck to the shrimp. My husband said the chicken was so tender and very moist and the flavor was the perfect mix of garlic and shoyu. I’m sure there were other spices used but I didn’t care– we just ate and ate!!! The noodles– udon– was perfectly cooked and the flavor with the aioli on it was a unique flavor in a very good way! It was a tad spicy, but not overwhelming in any way. Did I mention that the prices were crazy reasonable? The shrimp was 8.50 along with the chicken dish and the unreal melt in your mouth steak was 9.50 I think. Crazy good deal!!! One of the best things– the chef told us that customers are welcome to text their order into him so they don’t have to wait for their food! What a concept!!! Overall– I think i have to go back next weekend since it was THATGOOD!!! This is just the beginning of a great food relationship with Iron Grill Hawaii!

The last couple of times we’ve visited, I ordered the steak plate. At just under $ 10, the cost isn’t that prohibitive, it is the fatty and tough pieces of meat that are. The first plate was pretty greasy, but the last(and literally the last I’ll buy) plate I got, almost half of the pieces on my plate were all fat or mostly fat/gristle. The plate is definitely tasty but it is from the loads of fat and butter. It’s such a simple thing to make, and tastes pretty good on its own without adding so much oil or butter. The level of grease was completely unnecessary. I completely understand I wouldn’t get steakhouse quality meat for a lunch wagon price but more edible pieces than not would be preferable. Perhaps the fish and chicken dishes are better, I couldn’t say. Cash only and it takes a bit to get your food. I’d suggest placing your order first(he will let you do that while you go get cash) then walk over to Don Q to get your cash.

Iron Grill Hawaii food truck delivers so many thing at a high level. They greeted us right away and asked if we had any questions. The menu was simple enough so we ordered a garlic shrimp plate and prime steak plate. As you wait for your food to to be freshly made, you stand around the truck listening to some pumping music. He has a real flat grill right in the truck, and does he teppanyaki jams right in front of your eyes. Its not a full on Tanaka of Tokyo show, but he does a flip of his knife here and there, which is cool. Our food came out fairly quickly, in about 10 minutes. The food was DELICIOUS. Everything is covered in garlic, so be warned. Luckily we love garlic so everything from the steak to the shrimp to the fried rice and mushrooms were very tasty and filling. Prices run from about $ 9 to $ 15 depending on how much add on you want. Parking is real easy, using Donkey’s parking garage. Top notch food, service and entertainment from a small food truck on the side of the road… AMAZING!

Oootz oootz oootz oootz oootz oootz oootz… #ClubMusic Nope you have not arrived at the newest Honolulu nightclub but at the Iron Grill Hawaii food truck! We were looking for a new food adventure and just happened to drive by this unassuming white truck parked in front of the Pan Am building. I looked it up on my Unilocal app and the reviews looked very promising. We parked across the street and as we got closer to the truck I became giddy with delight from the smell of garlic and meat sizzling on the teppanyaki. Some girls jump up and down at the sight of a Louis Vuitton handbag, I jump up and down over teppanyaki! #YouHadMeAtSm-ello We are greeted by Elaine who has a gigantic smile and we watch as Seng(the Chef in the big black hat) cooks orders skillfully on his teppanyaki. The music blasts through his truck and I check to see if there’s a DJ tucked inside somewhere. There’s a lot to choose from on the menu and I have a difficult time making up my mind, going back and forth between steak or shrimp. Impulsively I decide to get both because you only live once and true freedom means never having to choose between two things you love. #WordsOfWisdom Seng sees me taking photos and puts on a show by lighting a flame on his grill. What a great guy! Our food comes out 8 – 10 minutes later, Elaine is so helpful in taking orders and packaging everything up. My plate is the perfect mesh of steak, shrimp and garlic. So good that I didn’t even need to add any of the fancy sauces and I inhale my plate in minutes! You might wince at the thought of paying an extra $ 2 for garlic fried rice, but if you love garlic, please take my advice and just do it! It was worth every single copper penny as it brings out the extra garlic flavor in both my steak and shrimp entrees. #GarlicOrgasm $ 9.50 for a one choice regular plate $ 13.50 for two choice plate Each plate comes with rice and salad Add $ 2 for garlic fried rice if you’re a player Check Instagram for their location @IronGrillHawaii #MyNewFavoriteFoodTruck (On repeat) Oootz oootz oootz oootz oootz oootz oootz… #ClubMusicForDays
