So we were looking for somewhere to eat on this Sunday evening. We came to Kaimuki Restaurant Row and opted for Hokkaido Ramen. It’s right next to «ugh» Angelo Pietro’s and the nail shop. Restaurants on this corner always seem to come and go. Darcie and I both ordered the mapo rice and ramen with 4 gyoza. I asked for mine extra spicy. I asked for pickled ginger to which the reply was«We no use that.» In any case the ramen nor the rice came out spicy. Even the chili powder had no kick whatsoever. Maddy girl had the mochiko chicken. It was dry but pretty tasty. She seemed to like it. Jaz had garlic chicken but there was nothing garlicky about it. The gyoza came out last. The funny thing was it was pretty crappy, but it tasted the best. While it’s a cheap deal I’ll never come back here again.

fried noodles are great the miso ramen was a bit on the oily side for my taste, but I’m sure that’s how the ramen is supposed to be. Very tasty though

She was spot on about everything she had said about the place… Yes, this place has very reasonable prices, food portions were generous, service was fast & friendly, and of course this place is a «no-frills kind of place», where you know exactly what you’re gonna get, nothing fancy, but the grub will get your tummy full! I was feeling curry again, as my Unilocal buddy Lisa S. was checking into Curry House the other day… after seeing that… I got it in my head again for curry! And my all time favorite place for curry is CURRYHOUSE! Normally I would just go to Curry House, but recently I decided to start looking for an alternative places for curry. Why? I don’t know… I figured it’s always good to have a back door, just in case for some reason I could not get to Curry House. I have tried the curry at Nishi Ramen, and now I have tried the curry at Hokkaido Ramen. For today’s lunch, I chose the Chicken Katsu Curry. What can I say about the grub… well the chicken katsu was made perfectly… chicken was plump, and crunchy! And the curry… well I must say, it had
