Ate here again. It’s the best ramen I’ve had in Honolulu. The broth is delicious and the chasu is delicious.

Awesome fried rice and really good ramen. 4.5 stars for value. This is a small restaurant ran by a couple and they take their time to makr sure it is done right.

Cute little hole-in-the-wall restaurant. It’s in the same building as Yakitori Glad, and they share the same parking lot in the back. It’s free, too! Just let one of the workers know what stall number you parked in and they go outside and pay for it. How sweet~! The setting is a little awkward, though– no music, simple and minimal décor, and we were the only ones in the restaurant. However, the server was very friendly, and despite the awkward silence and emptiness of the restaurant, I was so glad that we came here. I had the shoyu ramen w/fried rice combo, and the BF ordered the same with miso ramen instead, plus a side order of gyoza. I literally inhaled my ramen, soup and all. The broth had a nice depth to it, and the char siu was perfect and not too fatty– just the way I like it! I also love when my ramen noodles are on the thinner side, and this one was slightly still firm, yet chewy. Delish! The fried rice, however, tasted more like the kind of fried rice served at Chinese restaurants, except blander. My BF had to drizzle it with shoyu. I think maybe next time we might just opt out on the rice and do a ramen-gyoza combo instead. In the end, we both left very full and extremely satisfied. What’s even better, our wallets were happy, too! Everything was reasonably priced. Our bill came out to about $ 24. Will definitely be coming back here again!

Best ramen I’ve ever had. My friend from Tokyo was also impressed so that must be a good sign. She noted that the ramen was very authentic, Japan style. I had the hakata ramen and she had the shoyu ramen w/gyoza. Everything was fantastic but the hakata ramen was especially good in my opinion. The servers were very friendly and fast. Definitely will be back!

Best place I’ve found for ramen in honolulu. Now I’m a ramen snob as I lived in Japan a good portion of my life(it’s my first language so bear with me). In fact just got back from Japan. Again. When I miss home I come to eat here. Most of the staff understands japanese(are from there) and the foods good to boot(as well as cheaper than a lot of the other ramen places). In response to some of the other reviews this place is legit. If you eat a lot of Sapporo bases ramen a IN Sapporo you’ll realize this is wry accurate Sapporo style(not just other regions take on it). The currya not great here but to be fair it’s called ramen king not curry king. I enjoy this place a lot.

I just visited Honolulu, and wanted to eat authentic food. Found this place while just driving by the area. I really enjoyed eating there, came back and ate again after two days. The soups were great, the fried rice(not even close to the one prepare in Benihana’s restaurant) The place is cozy, the service excellent, If you are in Honolulu, please do not miss to go there! Hope you and your Family have the same experience.

Favorite Ramen place so far! It’s never busy in there, I think a lot of ppl get take out. I am addicted to the Charsiu Shoyu Ramen. So good! Broth is very flavorful and charsiu is very tasty too! My boyfriend likes the Miso Charsiu Ramen better, it’s good too but I prefer the Shoyu broth. I’ve tried tenkaippen and goma tei. A lot of ppl like tenkaippen but i was not impressed at all. Goma tei is good but I like king of ramen a little more.

If you’re looking for an authentic bowl of Japanese ramen, this is not the place for you. I ordered the Hakata Ramen and it had a very Chinese taste to it. The bamboo shoots were not Japanese, the pork was marinated differently… it just wasn’t authentic. That being said, for what it was, it was pretty good. Without the preconceived notion of it being a Japanese ramen spot, I would have rated this place higher. It is obviously Chinese owned and operated but I would say it’s definitely better than your standard Genki Ramen type places. They could stand to freshen up the space a bit too. Service was quick and pleasant, although very basic. As far as Japanese ramen places go, I’ve definitely had better. For a Chinese-Japanese ramen place, this place isn’t bad.

I went here with a friend today after doing a long hike at a close by neighborhood. As we walked into the restaurant we couldn’t see anyone else inside, no customers or any waiters. Eventually an older Asian man came to seat us from the back room. He seemed very nice, though he didn’t speak a word of English. He turned the AC on and because we were soaking wet from the hike and cold we tried asking him if he could turn it off(since we were the only people there). Well he couldn’t understand what we were trying to say, but that’s ok. He got us some waters, took our order, and the food came out fairly quickly after that… And it was GOOD! I’m sure part of it was that we were both starving and craving for some hot soup after the hike. But I thought it was absolutely delicious. Especially the broth. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends.

Ordered the curry ramen with chicken katsu. The katsu was so freshly breaded, best I’ve ever had. No one was here when we walked in, but we thought we’d try it. So glad we did. The curry ramen was flavorful, but not too spicy.

This ramen restaurant is Awesome! I used work with Ramen restaurant in Japan that I know how they made soup. The soup is key of ramen restaurant, not flavors. This restaurant soup are looks like Japanese made soup. It should use chicken, pork borne, vegetable(onion, carrot, sea weed, dry fish. etc… they use a few of these I guess. I wont be able to go eat ramen any other restaurant. This is Awesome! They have parking behind restaurant. You should tell them which stall number of parking. Aloha

Best ramen in Kapahulu! Great service too! We really love their ramen — it’s delicious. Their char siu miso ramen is particularly amazing. Their gyozo is also quite good — they’re big, so the 6 piece side order if great for two people.

Had lunch here today with two friends. I ordered the shoyu ramen. The noodles had a good consistency, but the pork was a bit overcooked and tough – definitely not the fall-off-the bone stuff I’m used to at the top ramen joints. Service was very, very friendly, however. My water cup was always full and no one pressured us to leave even though we were talking story for maybe 45 minutes after we’d finished our food. The restaurant is very small and casual. To use the bathroom you have to ask for a key, go outside, and walk to the second floor of this rather strange, retro office building. It was kind of creepy, but the bathroom was very clean. Also, there’s *free parking* in a small lot behind the restaurant! No need to struggle with street parking. I didn’t know about the free lot so I snuck over to the big Safeway lot and parked there. Overall, this is a friendly neighborhood joint. I wouldn’t make a special trip here but I could see myself coming back if I’m in the Kapahulu area.

One of my go-to ramen places. It is the same as the old Rai Rai and there’s an expanded menu now. I always get the miso ramen, with excellent broth, tender char siu, and bouncy noodles.

It’s true — these guys are just like the old Rai Rai, just under a different name. But I think they gotta revamp their operations because dining here is a little creepy. There is a musty smell, and there is no décor at all except for a large flat screen TV. At 6:30 pm on a Friday night, we were the only customers in the restaurant. Not a good sign. But the food is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. The shoyu ramen is exactly like Rai Rai’s. Cloudy broth, chewy noodles, topped with tasty garlic chips. Gyozas are plump and moist. The won ton ramen comes with A LOT of won tons! I’ll definitely be back!

One of my favorite ramen places. They have some of the best charsiu I’ve ever had. My fave is the shoyu charsiu ramen but the miso and shio are really good too. They also have super ono chicken katsu curry rice. Awesome ramen and katsu curry in the same place? Talk about a triple threat! Granted, that’s only 2 things but whatever. Screw off countie! No one wants to sit here and listen to you add one plus one all day! Just check them out. Good stuff.

Craving ramen and It’s 2:30 pm… Yotteko Ya is closed so let’s go to Rai Rai! Walk in to Rai Rai… wait something is different today… It looks kind of like Rai Rai… but it’s not Rai Rai… when did this happen??? — The place looks the same as Rai Rai — The menu is similar to Rai Rai — Prices are lower than Rai Rai — Food is not nearly as good as Rai Rai — Workers are very friendly but they barely speak english(Had trouble asking them about items on the menu) I had the Won Ton Ramen. The broth was alright, they make it sort of like Rai Rai’s. The won ton was really hit or miss. I only ate 4 pieces of it. The first piece was alright, the second piece was really weird tasting, the third piece tasted alright, the 4th piece tasted really weird so I stopped eating them at that point… very inconsistent. Outside of the inconsistent won ton the ramen itself was decent(3 star quality). Oh and they only take cash.

I was at American Saving Bank when I turned and looked across the street and saw a new sign where Rai Rai Ramen used to be and saw a King of Ramen instead. I was a bit confused as Rai Rai was always pretty crowded. So this peaked my interest and I had to see what the heck was going on. So I enter the place and it still looks like the old Rai Rai Ramen but I didn’t see the person I used to see but was greeted by an Asian fellow that kind of reminded me of Jet Li in Kiss of the Dragon where he didn’t seem to speak too much English. This guy would point to things such as soda and pictures of the food. It was almost comical. So since he didn’t really understand my questions, one of the customers answered it for me. I asked what happened to Rai Rai and when did they open. The customer then told me that they have another restaurant somewhere and that they wanted them(the Kapahulu one) to match their prices… so in other words to raise it. They didn’t want to so they had to change their name. So when the customers got their food I had to ask, so how does it taste? Three of them said it tasted the same, no difference. So I ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry and the curry was the same and the chicken katsu was light and crispy like I was used to. So if you liked Rai Rai Ramen, you have nothing to fear except to find parking. There is street metered parking, across the street on the dirt lot or on Palani Ave has a garage where you can find parking as well. I gave it 4 stars because today they didn’t allow me to use my charge card but they said that by tomorrow they will have up and running and parking is hard to find. Other than that this place is pretty good. Located between Pizza Hut and Pyramids 760 Kapahulu Ave Honolulu, HI96816 Ph:(808) 737‑3877 Monday — Saturday 11:00 — 9:00 pm Sunday 11:00 am — 8:45 pm
