Always top-notch customer service. The ladies remembered my husband months after he purchased my engagement ring. They also accompanied the purchase with a bottle of Cartier champagne… but the best part is the FAST and convenient and complimentary ring cleaning services. Takes all of 5 minutes.

My then fiancé and I were shopping for wedding rings & we thought we’d try Cartier. They had a pretty selection in the back room but unfortunately no one was there to help us. We thought maybe it was because there were other people in the store who were being helped so we decided to keep ourselves busy with one of the books. Minutes passed and no one came. No greeting, no «I’ll be with you shortly», nothing. Nada. This was weird since my usual experience with jewelers includes a greeting upon entering the store or a greeting as you walk further into the store if they are busy in the front. So we left and found our rings elsewhere. Maybe they were busy. Maybe weren’t dressed nice enough. Not 100% sure and never will know the answer but we’re never going there again.

How do these places make money? There never seems to be anyone in the store, not even staff. They must have to mark up their watches so high that they only have to sell one thing a day. Brand is everything in todays world. Who wears a watch anymore anyway, certainly not to keep time. Can you imagine what the rent must be? I like the Cartier in Geneva much better, they offer you champagne, the salesgirls are multi-lingual, elegant and smell good.

as much as i like their, well, everything, i have to admit their service should be better and that’s what most of the customers are expecting from this kind of high-end stores. i shopped at the waikiki store years ago and wasn’t impress at their service at all! i ended up buy something from the ala moana store and i became their regular. i often receive their greeting cards and catalogs. however, i’ve noticed they have stopped doing this if you don’t make any purchase within a year. being realistic, how many people can really buy something there more than few times a year? so they think you don’t «deserve» a greeting card/catalog if you don’t make as many purchases as before? well, not that i need/want their greeting cards/catalogs but being take off from their mailing list isn’t what a customer wants. however, they do treat me nicely whenever i go, even without any purchases, though.

I’ve experienced much better service at other high-end retailers. I am a Hermes girl through and through and also have a love of Gucci 18k gold, which is stunning in both presence and craftsmanship. I have made a purchase at Cartier in the past and experienced great customer service. I walked in to look at a ring and I was wearing many high ticket designer jewelry pieces. The sales associate was borderline condescending in her explaination of the return policy. I am very aware that they do not offer exchanges, which I never suggested that I wanted. I guess she had a problem with the fact that I was taking my time trying to decide between a size 50 or 51. I was so put off by this woman whose personality I would only describe as passively aggressive in a very annoying manner that we walked out, never to return to this particular location. I also told my husband never to go back. I will shop in Waikiki.

CARTIERTAKESTHECRAPCAKE In a mall overrun by über-expensive Designer Crap, that few people can afford, Cartier takes the cake for the crappiest customer service at a designer store. During my time in Hawaii on this visit, I was shopping in many of the designer & non-designer stores for a simple slip case for my new mini-Canon camera, which I never found! To anybody with an eye for over-priced designer crap, it was apparent that I could afford their stuff, since I was either wearing or carrying stuff from Gucci, Rolex, Montblanc, & Louis Vuitton. What could have put them off, was that I was walking around with a cane and pulling a small carry-on, with wheels, behind me, but sorry, I am handicapped. After I hobbled in and hobbled around the store, they were apparently way too busy sucking up to some rich Japanese tourists, to even say something brief like, «welcome, we will be with you shortly». So being totally ignored, I continued to hobble around the store, looking for what I wanted on my own. What was especially galling to me, was that one Japanese couple, that were being fawned over while sitting very comfy & looking at expensive wedding rings, were being served some sparkling beverage and cookies, while I could not even evoke a simple hello, nor a confirmation of my existence from them, let alone a chair(or even a rock to sit on). Eventually, because of the total lack of attention, and lack of seating(I needed to sit down every few stores because of severe Neuropathic back/leg pain), I eventually gave up and asked the security guard if they had what I wanted. He helpfully suggested, that he did not think so and thus I finally left the store. Needless to say, they did not provide reasonable accommodation for my handicap. This unfortunate neglect seems to be quite common almost everywhere, but I had not noticed it before I was handicapped. I guess I have to ride around in a wheelchair, like I now do at airports, or collapse on the F’in floor, before most people will notice. More and more retailers, have removed chairs and anywhere to sit, apparently, in the name of profits. In a country that the demographics are increasing weighted toward the older crowd, it is absurd not to have at least a few chairs available for people who need them. Obviously, there needs to be legislation on this, because these retailers are too stupid and/or cruel to reasonably accommodate the elderly or handicapped. Who can even think of shopping while they are suffering? I did check out a number of the other designer stores and had a far better & more friendly reception at Hermes, Bally, Tiffany, & Salvatore Ferragamo. The customer service at Louis Vuitton, Montblanc and some others were marginal, at best. Even though I initially had great service when they first sold me a pen at the San Francisco Cartier, the follow-up on getting prepaid back ordered refills for the mini-pen was beyond ridiculous. It took several phones calls to managers at two stores, and a year, before I received the refills that I paid for. Based on this terrible customer service, I would mostly likely never buy anything from them in the future, even though the have some cool items and designs. I cannot imagine them fixing anything in a timely fashion, if lets say, a timepiece broke, let alone a pen! One persistent problem at some of the Ala Moana stores is the snotty & snobby attitude to those who do not look like the highest end customers, namely Japanese and other foreign tourists. This was also the case, way back in 1989 when I first moved to Hawaii, and lived just a few short blocks behind this shopping center, when I was a relatively poor UH student. I must have frequented the shopping center at least once a week back then, for at least a decade… so lets say I frequented the center about 500 times in my life so far. There were also some designer and local stores staffed by people who spoke poor English, had poor customer service skills, and seemed to be recent immigrants from Korea or elsewhere. If you combine this with the ridiculous tourist prices, the decay of the food court quality, neglect of ADA accommodation, and the hoards of tourists… it all degrades the experience of shopping at Ala Moana, which is obviously, no «paradise». I am sorry Cartier, but you have the dubious honor of making my «ARMPITSOFTHEUNIVERSE» & «THEDAMNED» & «CRAPINPARADISE» lists …and may the lord have mercy upon you!

I am a Tiffany’s girl. I enjoy shopping at Tiffany! But after helping a friend pick out an engagement ring at Cartier. I’m sold. I’m a fan. I like their wedding/engagement ring selection. It’s very elegant. We shopped at some mall jewelry stores and they were full of bling-bling. Larger is better, according to most Americans. But not when it comes to a ring I am interested in. I like understated elegance. If you want a ring that will impress … I suggest you shop at Cartier where you get great service from the associates. If you just want a cookie-cutter ring … then shop at the«mall» jewelry stores. My loyalty lies with Tiffany but I am a fan of Cartiers.

A great collection of Cartier watches and jewelry… but better yet… the prices here are much lower than the Mainland and the tax is only 4%. My Santos 100 watch cost me $ 5,200 in NY but here it is $ 900.00 cheaper. That being said, I had to buy a couple of cuff links and ear rings for my babe!!! What a deal, I saved $ 2,700.00 from the Mainland prices and tax.

Cartier is really an amazing jeweler. They offer very unique and interesting pieces. When I was in the market for a new watch I went to some other places like Tiffany and Co. and Hermes, but Cartier really had an incredible selection of awesome watches(I think the fancy term at Cartier is «timepieces»). Whether you like stuff with a lot of bling and encrusted with diamonds or you’re looking for a watch that makes a subtle statement, you can find it here. The service they provide is excellent and I’ve never been disappointed with anything they do. I won’t lie — this place is pricey and it isn’t for everyone, but if you are looking for a nice watch and you want something that makes a statement, this is the place to go. Obviously, Cartier is a well-known jeweler and therefore they have a ton of jewelry too… I was just looking at the watches, but if you’re a lady, I’m sure you’d enjoy looking at all the rubies, sapphires, emeralds and diamonds in the store.
