Too expensive for what you get. Burrito with 1 topping and cheese is $ 8, and it was cold and pretty tasteless. There are better, cheaper places to eat at UH(like Taco Bell).

This is a review of the UH campus location(Saunders courtyard). I guess, the summary judgement here is that they are very hit and miss. When they first opened I had many great experiences – the burritos were huge and delicious, the employees were friendly and had a nice vibe that worked well for Saunders. Then, slowly, I noticed changes. I never see the same employees twice anymore, and generally they are less friendly and sometimes I get the impression they don’t like their job much. Once, the guy making my burrito chatted with his coworker about how bored he was and didn’t want to be there – while I stood two feet away. Then, there’s the food. It was decent at first, the portions have always been good sized, and it isn’t hard to beat Taco Bell. But the beef was always so-so, and now they’ve changed the menu a bunch, cutting my favorite(chicken mole), and increased the prices to boot. Finally, this morning, it all came to a head and I had to write this review. I walked up at 8:10am and the one guy setting up didn’t acknowledge me, so I had to ask awkwardly if he was open. «Not yet.» They used to open at 7:30am, now the sign says 8am, but either way, I expected him to be ready in a few minutes. So I wait. A handful of other people walk up while I’m waiting and the same scene plays out. Now, it was clear by this point that something odd had happened, he seemed to be cleaning something up, so I don’t blame him for running late. But I waited for ten minutes with no indication of when he’d be ready, so I gave up and left. I might give them another chance, but it’ll be a while.

Huge burrito. Pretty hearty with all that meat and rice. It’s so huge it squirts at you!!! A bit messy to eat. One foil is not enough. Need like a plate. Otherwise not too bad. It beats going to campus center. At least the outdoor eating area is breezy outdoor setting.

Note: this review is based on when they first opened. Things *might* have changed, but I’m afraid to go back and try it. I was really excited that there was a burrito place opening in Saunders, since I miss good burritos from San Diego. However, their food was very disappointing. 1. Their carne asada is not good. It has an aftertaste of dish soap. 2. How can you not offer sides of hot sauce when you’re a Mexican stand? I’m sorry, but I like to control the amount of hot sauce I put on my burrito. 3. Price is pretty high. I would be willing to pay their prices if their food was actually good. The only thing I’ll give them is that their hot sauce is decently spicy. I’ve heard their breakfast burritos are edible, but I haven’t tried them yet. Do yourself a favor and walk to the lunch trucks on campus for better food and cheaper prices.

BC Burrito is conveniently located at UH Manoa and the main reason why I tried it in the first place. I’m not really a burrito person particularly because I dislike a lot of beans. However, you can customize your order here. Since the first time I tried this place, I’ve been going at least once a week. It’s too tempting to just pass by and leave without getting a burrito from this place. I always order a carne asada with guacamole, no beans and light on the spanish rice. I don’t like eating burritos that are TOO filling so I love this option. They make it as soon as you order it so it’s fresh. It is $ 7 for the burrito and you can add on stuff like sour cream or extra meat and guac. It’s definitely worth the price. It is VERY filling.

Here’s my review the second time around! Tried the spicy chicken mole lunch burrito again. This time, I kept the pinto beans but put the salsa on hold and asked for extra lettuce instead. There was no wait so that was very nice since everyone seems to always complain about the wait time. I must say: the spicy sauce put my mouth on FIYAH! I’m pretty sure the guy who made my burrito last time spared my mouth by putting only a thin line of spicy sauce because my burrito the second time was super spicy. I definitely didn’t mind since I love spicy food but beware the spicy sauce of you’re not a fan of the heat cuz I felt it in my nose, too! The burrito was still super mega so it’s worth the money. This time, though, my burrito wasn’t as tight as I would’ve liked so it kind of fell apart earlier than expected. I JUSTREALIZED. I forgot the sour cream! Maybe that’s why it was spicier than it was the first time I had it? I’ll continue to purchase food from here, though. Next time, I’ll try something else :)

People. This place is pretty great. Pros: Fully customizable 2 different meats can be packed in Pork Chili Verde is delicious Extra fresh tomato salsa makes up for the lack of lettuce Little plastic to-go bags are cute :) College-Kid Priced(6 and change, 10 tops with XL& the works) Cons: My waist line was a little disappointed with the lack of veggie choices to add in, but I guess my stummy was happy about it Let me tell you first, and yell it from every mountain on this God-Forsaken(only in this case) island that **I MISSCHIPTOLE** tear. but, I guess this makes a good number 2. It’s just different, I feel a little heavier and in need of a good run after leaving BC Burrito and a long nap, but it’s worth it. I hear breakfast burritos are great for after a long night and a hang over to boot… may be just the thing for this sunday :) EDIT: oh hay! they have lettuce by request, so even here you can feel a little bit healthier with an added crunch & texture difference from meat/bean/rice.

I’m trying to delete this review since I haven’t been to this location, but Unilocal isn’t giving me this option.

Their chicken mole lunch burrito($ 6.50) are fantastic. The lines are a little bit time-consuming, but they serve the food quickly. The burritos are the size of a hefty log, running with juices and stuffed with flavorful beans and rice. Surprisingly enough, they wrap it securely in aluminum foil so you don’t make a mess — you can even save half for later on if you want. It’s very filling, so beware of kanak attacks during afternoon classes. I would definitely go all out and get the guacamole($ 0.50) and the sour cream($ 0.50) for maximum taste. I have also heard that their scones($ 2.50) are tasty — they sell out by noon-ish though, so get them early. My only complaint would be the limited choices, as they only offer breakfast and lunch burritos. Would like to see more options!

Holy Big burrito’s batman!!! I’m serious though. As a mainlander I was devastated when I found out there was no Chipotle here on island. So I haven’t had a ginormous burrito in like four year. Well one day I was running late from Political Science and I had Constitutional law in like 10 minutes. So after reading Jonathan P.‘s review and realizing they do card I decided to give this place a try. Not only did the workers tell me what I would like if I didn’t like spicy they explained all the stuff they offered! I ended up getting a carnita’s burrito with guacamole(I’m Hungry just thinking about it). These burritos are HUGE so they fill you up all day plus they are cheap and healthy too! What else could a poor college student ask for? On a side note! If you do want to pay with card they have a nifty iphone app that runs your card through. On the downside you have to have a 5.00 order before you can use it but thats okay because all their burritos cost more than 5 bux. Another thing is their drinks are kind of expensive. If you get more than a burrito it can get a little pricey. But seriously I love this place and since I basically live in Saunders because of my major I WILL be back to get their burrito goodness!!! YUM!!!

What happened BC Burrito?! As Tom Colicchio says… you are only as good as your last dish. I ordered from you my usual delicious, taste sensation called the marintated pork burrito(ok that is not the real name) and dude charged me 50 cents for cheese?! That’s new. Usually I am cooing and moaning with each bite but this time… where was the flavor? Beans had no flavor, pork… nada. I DID taste the cheese for the first time ever though. I hope it was an off night as BC Burrito is my go to spot when I want a quick, filling and tasty meal. I think I need to give them up for awhile. Dude also messed up the wrapping of the burrito. Hmmmm.

Simple and fulfilling. I like it! Okay, so after reading Mr. Jonathan P.‘s review, I decided to go to this place for a quick lunch before class. They only have two choices. Breakfast burrito or Lunch burrito. I ordered the Lunch Burrito of course(lol). It was very good, the burrito resembled to me of a step-above and tastier than my old Taco Bell Favorite; the grilled stuff burrito. There are extras, which allow someone to add more flavor to their burrito. I chose to add Guacamole to my Carne Asada lunch burrito. Finished the bugga in 10 minutes, but damn it was big!(If you want to know more about their Menu, Jonathan P.‘s review below explains it thoroughly). Price is a bit high for a burrito, but I think it was worth it! I grew up with Asian food, so I stay away from it whenever I can. Mexican is one of my favorite type of food. The burrito was delicious, and it filled me up. Service was fast and friendly. The cashier was explaining to everyone who looked like a first-timer how to eat the burrito! I thought it was funny, but nice. Overall, a 4-star rating. I think it’s just the beginning right now, so hopefully I’ll be able to see more items added. However, simplicity and good service are great characteristics, but over time having only two items may become too boring. It can go either way. Recommended for starving college students! :) P.S I tried one of their drinks, I do not recall the name. The flavor was Mandarin, and I thought it was pretty good. «Sparkly,» my girlfriend described it.

Instead of a salsa bar, there’s a hot sauce bar. That’s not Mexican, that’s insanity. I mean, come on, even Maui Freakin’ Tacos has a salsa bar. Burrito was plain and unremarkable. Extra points for being BYOB, though.

So BC Burrito just opened up a kiosk at Sustainable Saunders this week — just in time for the opening of the fall semester. I’ve heard talks about the eatery coming to campus but didn’t think they’d set up shop so soon! What a pleasant surprise for us UHM campers. The area is nice and shady with tables and chairs so you can enjoy your meal el fresco. The menu is simple. The breakfast burrito includes eggs, salsa, potatoes, cheese and your choice of bacon, chirizo or soyrizo for $ 6.75. And for lunch, your choice of chicken, carnita, carne asada or soyrizo with rice, beans, cheese and salsa for $ 6.50. Sauce options come in mild, medium or spicy. You also have side options like sour cream, guacamole, extra meat, cheese, etc. for a little extra($.50-$ 2.00). Food is prepared quickly so don’t be deterred if you see a long line forming. The food is worth the small wait, especially if you’re looking for an alternative to Taco Bell at Campus Center! I had the carnita burrito(medium) today. Could probably use more sauce but it was still good! Would love to see them expand their menu to maybe include some dessert options in the future! They’re open from 7:30 a.m. till 2:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Come on down!

Let’s be honest, good food options at UH Manoa are few and far in between. There are only so many times you can visit India Café, Manoa Gardens, Campus Center, Subway, and Taco Bell(Ok, so we have some options)! I was pleasantly surprised to find such a great new addition to our culinary landscape that offers good tasting burritos at reasonable prices and best of all… quick running lines! Located on the first floor of Saunders Hall, BC Burrito’s kiosk is right there dead and center but easy to miss among the pillars that support the structure. See the line and don’t be deterred, it will move quickly. Also, its hours from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm(at time of writing) make it a good spot to grab that breakfast or lunch on the go! For $ 6.75 you have a choice of chicken, carnitas, carne asada, or soyrizo that is served along side cheese, rice, beans and salsa. While I have been sticking to a good olé carne asada, their carnitas is nothing to sneer at. If you feel like you will be overwhelmed by flavor, don’t be. Their flavorings tend to be on the lighter side but you definitely taste the flavors of the meat complemented by well cooked rice, a very refreshing salsa and of course CHEESE(cheese just makes anything better if you ask me). For $ 1.00 more, check out their guacamole which is quite nice or add some extra cheese or sour cream for 50 cents. The service is pretty legit(did I speak street right now?). The line moves pretty steadily and the staff there are quick to please. They aim to make your meal how you want it(within reason of course). If you happen to be on the UH Manoa campus and have a hankering for a burrito, skip the Taco Bell and get the real deal!

BC Burrito is now at UH Manoa? Say what?! Yes it’s true. After having a delightful midday snack at Yogurtland, I overheard a few students mention that a BC Burrito just opened this past Monday on campus. After finding the BC Burrito I couldn’t help but stare. It honestly reminds me of a kiosk at Ala Moana. Well… to be more exact, it’s about the size of the help/information desk at Ala Moana. This small burrito joint is located on the first floor of Saunders Hall in between the Shidler College of Business and Queen Lili’Uokulani Center. It’s currently a take-out establishment with plenty of outdoor seating. There are currently only two items on their menu: 1) Breakfast Burrito: eggs, cheese, potatoes, salsa, and a choice of bacon, chorizo, or soyrizo for $ 6.75 2) Lunch Burrito: cheese, rice, beans, salsa, and a choice of chicken carnitas, carne asada, or soyrizo(which is a vegetable sausage) for $ 6.50 Ordering is pretty simple. You choose either a breakfast or lunch burrito and indicate the level of your salsa(mild, medium, hot). You can then choose to add sour cream(additional $ 0.50) or guacamole(additional $ 1). A friend and I both shared two lunch burritos(since they ran out of breakfast burritos). We tried the carne asada with medium salsa and the chorizo with mild salsa . Both were really good but really salty so I would say 3.5 stars. I’m normally not a big fan of Mexican food but it was pretty good for campus food. I just didn’t realize how heavy it was! After eating a single burrito I was stuffed! If I had to eat it again I would definitely get the carne asada, hands down. I talked to the owners for a bit and they are really nice and friendly. BC Burrito is currently open from 7:30am-2:30pm Monday through Friday and they accept BOTHCASHANDCREDITCARDS! They have this iPhone app + attachment that allows you to swipe your credit card! This is primarily a food stop for UH students and faculty only. I WOULDNOT recommend coming to UH just for the burritos. But if you’re on upper campus it’s worth checking out!
