Stan’s Fords and More

Excellent mechanic shop. They did an inspection for me on a used car with a salvage title. They brought me under the car with them and showed me every bit of damage they found plus could tell me how professionally-​done the repair job was.
Not only was their service wonderful, but they clearly cared about me, my safety, and whether I was getting a good deal for the car I wanted to buy.

New to the area, I had yet to find/​need a mechanic. However, one typically rainy Portland day, my alternator became possessed. It started making a weird noise and caused my Scion to have convulsions and foam at the mouth.
After calling around to various repair shops (including Toyota) all of whom were booked solid for a week, I got a recommendation for Stan’s from another nearby mechanic.
I got a quote over phone and they told me they could perform the exorcist in just a few hours. After having AAA tow my non-​drivable car to the shop, I was picked up at my home just 2 hours later from the owner Stan himself. He brought me back to the shop to retrieve my now happy car.
Such great customer service! My car was back to normal and they fixed just what they said they would for the price he quoted.
No funny business here, just good, honest mechanic work. Glad to have found a place I could trust!
Now, if only I could find a dentist…

My story begins with a used for EXPLODER! I bought off craigs list for 1300 dollars after about a year issues came this was expected! I took it to another shop And asked about the over all judement. I told him what i paid and wanted to know keep it or walk away. he told me yes it was worth saving so i gave about a grand! 3 months later more issues to the tune of 300 more dollar great car he said! Then still more issues at this point sadly i realized i was dealing with a crook! In the middle of this a guy at my work told me about a guy that he new He like me are machinist so we have a fair knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, but we are not mechanics! SO off to stans then news was bad and he told me straight up! I was past the point of no return on this car so now i had to save it he located a SOUND used engine HIGHER PRICED than most wrecking yard prices but he wold stand behind it THEY DO NOT INSTALL JUNK! Several months later my parents car With about 60,000 had issues. They had been to the finest in auto repair shops DO YOU KNOW THE JINGEL? and wanted to fix all kinds of stuff! these people are damn near eighty years old and easy pray! So that was a no go they got the work done that was nessecary and thats it there! six month later there alternator went out on there dodge cavalier i looked where dodge had buried that alternator and knew I did not have the time or tools needed to do the job! So off to stans they went! The total dammages were about 700 dollars shop rate plus parts! Shop rates well within market values, LIKE I SAID THAT JOB WOULD HAVE BEEN A PAIN A#%$&* do you get me? I felt safe them driving that car! That brings me to today and why i felt driven to wright this review 12÷13÷15 The dodge had a intermitant starting problem i could have tried guseing what the problem was and eplaced thing that did not need fixed or take to a fellow tradesman a master in his craft. NOW HERE IS THE SHOCKER when the phone rang that there car was ready they were set for the doctors bill on the caviler. Turns out it was just a lose battery cable NO CHARGE!!! I grew up here and did not think any of the old school oregon traditions were left! so i went and got mom took her to get her we stopped at big lots got them a snack sampler and picked up there car. Now they can go to our family christmas gathering in salem with a few dollars left in their pockets!!! These guys are fantastic. Being a woman, most auto repair places treat you like you’re an idiot or that you don’t know about cars. The fellow who answers the phone and who is the face you see when you walk in the door is a very, very nice fellow and very informative. He told me a lot about what was wrong with my truck (which is a Chevy), told me about the parts they would be using, that they were high quality parts and about the original parts that weren’t so good. We got to talking about Datsuns, Nissans, and other vehicles. He knows a lot! The only vehicles they don’t do are European imports: Volvos, VWs, Renaults, vehicles like that. They also don’t do body work type stuff, such as when your doors start «chunking» when you open and close them. However, they know reputable shops to refer you to, which is nice. Oh, the fellow’s name is Brendan. Don’t know his last name. He’s also very personable. Kudos to these guys for being an honest shop and hiring top-​notch mechanics! I’d give them more stars if I could. :-)

Stan’s Fords and more are true professionals. As a woman who has had her 1998 Ford Explorer since it was brand new and intends to keep it until the wheels fall off, It’s nice to know that I have a honest, reliable and proficient shop to take my car to. We have been going to Fords and more for over seven years and have always been treated with respect and honesty. Brendon is always good with explanations and never treats me like a dumb woman. My husband also drives a Ford and loves the shop. My 20 year old niece drives an Altima and takes her car there, not to mention we have sent a family friend to the shop for service. Every time we walk away satisfied that we have been treated fairly and out best interest has been looked out for by the shop.
