Restaurant 1915 is a warm, rustic eatery with good food. While they can be on the pricey side and the service can be slow at times between courses, they are extremely attentive to the customer’s needs. My husband and I have come here twice for the 3-course Prix fixe menu on New Year’s Eve two years ago and now for Valentine’s Day. The menus for these events are divine, save a few minor misses(bread, crème brulee). But over all a very romantic meal and attentive service. Will be back.

Great time celebrating a birthday here. The fireplace is huge and the food and service was solid. More atmosphere than food.

Seating spacious view is beautiful Food menu for lunch is not appetizing. Service is completely too slow… If your hungry don’t come for lunch very annoying.

My wife and I were in the Hudson Valley area on Saturday, Nov 14 for the Great Jack-O-Lantern Blaze at Van Cortlandt Manor. Neither of us had been to Bear Mountain Park in over twenty years, so, we decided to make a full day of it and added a visit to the park to our agenda. We were in the park around lunchtime and the Restaurant 1912 looked so inviting, we decided to have lunch there. The hostess was pleasant, but informed us the wait would be 45 minutes, as they were very busy. Looking out at the restaurant with 50% of the tables unoccupied, we were frankly a bit confused. But, since we had time, we agreed to the wait. Once the hostess called my name, she began to usher us over to the adjacent bar, the Blue Roof Tapas Bar. When I said we prefer to be seated in the larger dining area, she told us the restaurant was closed for a private(wedding) party(until 5pm) and the only open dining was in the bar. Having waited so long, we agreed to be seated in the bar, but it would have been NICE if she had informed us of this condition when we arrived. The hostess seated us a table for two in the center of the dining area of the bar. We sat, watching servers walk back and forth to other tables(and occasionally bumping into me), waiting more than 10 minutes for any member of the wait staff to greet us, and it was THEHOSTESS. While escorting guests in, she noticed us and asked if we had been served. We said no. She apologized, went behind the bar and spoke to a blond woman there. A few more minutes later, another server came over with menus and said our waitress would be with us shortly. Another waitress? Really? At this point, we had been seated for about 15 minutes and still had not been truly greeted by any of the wait staff, nor received napkins, utensils or water. It was getting ridiculous. I was furious and ready to walk out, but my wife urged me to hang on, as leaving the restaurant would have meant leaving the park to get lunch(the Hikers Café was not appealing, sorry!). Finally, after sitting there for 20 minutes, a waitress, who said she was NOT our waitress gave us water and took our order. Just because we were sick and tired of sitting there, we ordered the minimum; the French onion soup for my wife and I ordered the chili. By the way, they really need to take a closer look at their chili presentation. 99% of the restaurants in the United States serve chili in a bowl with the tortilla chips on the side, not on a shallow plate, where the chili is presented like a dip for the chips. Another 10 minutes passed before the hostess asked us again if we had been served. We told her we ordered and were waiting. She again, approached the woman behind the bar, who, some 5 minutes later delivered our food to our table, then disappeared before we noticed we were not give spoons for our soup and chili. As our«server» had vanished, I walked over to the hostess station, told the hostess we were never given spoons and she corrected the matter. We had invested about an hour and a half thus far for the weirdly plated chili and a lousy bowl of soup and it was lousy, as it had cooled down considerably before being delivered to our table. We finished our food, of course without a single staff member checking on us. I finally grabbed the hostess one more time as she passed by and asked for the check. After that, our trip to Bear Mountain was spoiled. Neither of us was in any mood to explore the park, so, we took a cursory walk around and left feeling we had thrown away our time, the parking fee and lunch bill for nothing. The first thing you might be thinking is, since the main restaurant was closed for the private event, the bar staff was probably slammed with the extra business and became overwhelmed. Well, I’m sorry, I can’t accept that. The dining area of the bar is not big. It looks like it seats about 75 guests(indoors). I counted five servers working in the bar dining room. I’ve been in restaurants with twice as much seating being handled efficiently by the same number of servers. I think it’s safe to assume the problem was lack of management that day.

Restaurant 1915 has a great atmosphere and beautiful scenery of The Bear Mountain Inn. I swear, it’s like you just walked into Ben Horn’s Lodge in «Twin Peaks». The service was amazing; our waiter was Dan and he made sure our party was taken care of the entire night. We went out for my sisters bday, 4 of us. We were there during restaurant week and the menu was superb. The Caesar salad is like no other with its sundried tomatoes and presentation. The gnocchi appetizer with chicken Ragu, while heavy, super tasty. Three of us had the bistro steak, cooked to perfection. The staff, the service, the ambiance, all of it was great. The perfect place to settle in during the beginning of the cold winter months. This place is a must-try, see for yourself !

The service was extremely slow, I had to wait a very long time just for a glass of water, and then asked three times before receiving a refill. The food was overpriced and not great. My Caesar sandwich with«tomatoes and grilled wrap» came with 3 tiny pieces of tomato, and a cold stale wrap. Despite having the hunger and deprivation of someone who has spent a while on the Appalachian trail, I was pretty dissatisfied with my dining experience.

My fiancé and I got married at the Bear Mountain Inn on September 13th, and decided to host a Welcome Dinner at the Restaurant 1915(on-site) the night before. We had 16 people total attending. The entire experience, from beginning-to-end, was outstanding. Everyone on the restaurant staff is super responsive, professional, and accommodating. But more importantly, they are friendly and really seem to take a lot of pride in making the experience as wonderful and stress-free as possible for guests. The food itself is AWESOME! We chose the prix-fixe menu for our dinner, and the selection available was broad enough that I can’t imagine anyone not being able to find something they want to eat! It was all prepared so well and presented beautifully, and every single person at dinner mentioned how much they enjoyed it. Some other things to mention are that it is a really convenient location if you and your guests are staying on-site, and the restaurant itself if beautiful. The décor is just so perfect for the location and unique. The space they placed our large group was semi-private so we could feel free to speak loudly across the table without feeling shut into a separate room. The pricing for the prix-fixe was reasonable and a good value for us. My new husband and I have been back since and will definitely be back again! We have never had a bad experience at this restaurant, and we really look forward to many visits to come.

I popped in here for a post-hike lunch with my friend, as it seemed a lot nicer than the cold sandwiches available downstairs. We weren’t sure if this place would be too nice for our sweaty, exercise clothing-clad selves, but it was no problem. Our server(Armoni) was really friendly and prompt, which was a relief after reading all the other reviews here. We were ravenous and delighted to find that both the burger and steak sandwich came with fries. Just try to ignore the word tapas in the name, because this is not a tapas bar. The food was decent overall; my friend’s bacon cheeseburger definitely surpassed my steak sandwich which was on the same kind of brioche/potato roll crossover bun. The sliced steak itself was fine but there were too many thick-cut tomato slices, plus cheese and mushrooms and not enough horseradish sauce. Fries were plentiful but could stand to be crispier. It’s definitely overpriced for what you’re getting(brunch buffet is $ 35) but could be worse. I would probably get wings at the bar or try to sit outside to enjoy the view next time. Head downstairs for plentiful locally made super sweet ice cream.

Awful, super over priced, terrible service, unwilling to substitute anything, and had no interest in our patronage despite being empty when we were there.

Updated lodge design of 1915 restaurant w/relaxed ambiance & scenic views of Hessian Lake from the 2nd floor are best part at Bear Mtn Inn. Bar area is good. Best seats are on outside deck but requires you to order subpar food & service. Dishes serve up «looking» nice. But trust me. stick w/drinks + ONE tapa & do not eat a whole meal here. We had tasteless arancini balls paired w/some spicy mayo sauce & super-salty steamed clams which were totally inedible. Go for the comfort, views, & drinks. not for the food & service!

Worst service ever. Arrived a little early for our brunch reservation. Was told by the hostess that she would need to «figure out» how to seat us outside, so it would take a few minutes. She seated 2 walk in parties outside in the 15 mins we were waiting. As soon as I asked about this we were seated. She obviously forgot about us. Once seated, we put in our drinks order with a waitress who we would never see again. After going to the buffet, getting our food and eating our food, I

Had lunch here memorial day weekend(sunday). Service was slow, host and server were all over the show. The restaurant seemed to lack any kind of direction or procedures. Took forever for a server to come and take our orders. Tables were sitting with dirty dishes. The servers seemed to be plentiful but not really attentive. I had the burger. The bun was so stale. In my opinion it should not have been served to a paying customer. Fries were good. My husband had the wings, he said they were fine. Overall, for a restaurant with so much potential it’s disappointing that it certainly doesn’t live up to its beautiful surroundings.

Scarlett enjoyed her crispy BBQ wings. I had the home made fettuccine which was very dense but I enjoyed the mushrooms, asparagus and fresh peas. Had ice cream later downstairs in the café. Nice place to hang out in the evening my by the huge fireplace.
