Jade Garden

I have never had a really good experience at this restaurant, food or service wise. My wife enjoys it so occasionally we go together. Stopped in today to try to get a quick lunch inside of an hour. The place was 75% empty, but they seem to be confused where to set us. After getting a booth and waiting for more than 10 minutes to see somebody I did manage to flag down the hostess and tell her we were ready to place our order. After an additional 10 minutes, and watching the waitress walk by us more than five times without speaking to us, we left. I will not be back.

At one time Jade Garden was really good. Sadly it has gone downhill. I’ve had lunch there on several occasions and the service has been slow and food has been lukewarm when served. Tonight I stopped for some takeout. Got home and found no sweet and sour for my egg roll. This has happened on more than one occasion when something from my order has been missing. Food lacked flavor and overall was not worth what I paid. Also, if the bathrooms are any indication of what the kitchen looks like I may never eat there again.

BEWARE OF HAIR
Husband and I had dinner on 12\6\15. Found a LONG hair in his dish. Told the waiter, and he said that all the Asians in the kitchen have short hair. We were surprised by his comment. We also told the GM and he also said the same thing, except he didn’t reference the asians. He said he would take care if us the next time we come in and to ask for him. My thoughts is why would we return to a restaurant that charges for hair in the food. I don’t see us going back anytime soon. Any thoughts?

The food was disgusting. When we asked about getting a refund we were told that they couldn’t, and because the sauces were prepackaged we were told that it was our taste buds that were to blame.

A huge selection of vegan options, what could go wrong? The service is top notch and the food is simple wonderful. This is the third time we’ve eaten here because it is so dependable.
The prices are very fair and it is easy to get anywhere in town from this location.
What did we have you might ask? Mixed vegetables with steamed rice and a vegetarian spring roll, this time. You could order Buddah’s delight if you want

4 stars for the great service! Our waiter Sylus was awesome! Food was average but good. Would return, since it seems to be the best Chinese restaurant Helena has to offer.

We were driving through helena and went to this place as it was closest to Walmart.
The lady serving us was brimming with excitement and energy. She was courteous, took time to explain the menu very clearly.
Thai Curry noodle is tasty and has a huge portion size. Two of us could have shared one of this dish.
The Plum sauce pork with rice dish is ok. We did notice that all four mains had roughly the same set of veggies. I think their chef needs to slightly modify this generous addition of same vegetable pack to dishes.

We really enjoyed the food and the service. The spicy food was spicy. The portions are huge.

Definitely the first time in my life that I’ve ordered sweet and sour chicken where the dish didn’t have the customary vegetables (onion, pepper, pineapple). The po-​po platter was good and contained the usual fried items. The egg fu young was also decent.
However, I’ve definitely had better. as someone else commented, you’d get a better meal at Panda Express.
I will say that service was good … the waitress checked on us constantly. so that was quite nice.

I have always loved Jade Garden! It had been almost ten years since I had eaten here. I live in SF and trust me have had my fair share of Chinese food. Jade Garden is on point. The service is perfect. They are fast and efficient! Prices are also great. You get a lot of food. The combo plates are the way to go.

They get one star for trying. Service is good place is clean smells good. Only problem is the food is sad. I come from Washington state from a town that has many cultures very diverse indeed with real Asian food then I go to a place like Jade and I am forced to eat this «asian» food. I am sorry for all of you guys that have to eat this sorry excuse for Chinese food. If you are a local you are probably used to this mediocre food so you will like it but if you are an out of towner then you are better off eating at PANDA EXPRESS is equally as sorry and at least you get your food served right away.

My third visit to this restaurant in the past couple of months. I love Chinese but I can only give it three stars. The food was good but not great. I ordered the Orange chicken and while the sauce was good the chicken was overcooked and as a result pretty dry. My wife ordered the Curry chicken and had to send it back to be redone as it was way to spicy to eat. It came back delicious. Service staff was very nice and accommodating.

Yuck! How food can be too salty, greasy, bland and mushy all at the same time is flabbergasting. I wouldn’t even mind if it was priced reasonably, but they charge ridiculously high prices. Pass the Panda Express please :/

Pretty much the worst Chinese food I’ve had anywhere. I’ve tried it several times and finally learned my lesson. It’s flavorless and usually cold. The wait staff is not great and they are always rushing around even when there aren’t many customers. Weird, right? No thanks… I’ll go to the drive thru Chinese place.

Is it authentic Chinese food? No. Is it probably the best you’re going to get in Helena, MT? Yes. Friendly service got it one of the stars, and the fact that they have tofu earned it another. Plenty of options, typical Americanized Asian food.

Jade Garden pursues the fine Chinese-​American dining experiences for their customers in Helena area. However, their dishes are questionable depending on your previous Chinese food experiences. Quantity of food they offer is more than plenty and you can still see many customers come back and enjoy what Jade Garden can offer. However, if you have experienced and enjoyed authentic Chinese or even good Chinese-​American dishes, you will be disappointed with Jade Garden dishes. Their interior and exterior décor are very good compare to other local Chinese restaurant in Helena. That should be one of the attraction points why customers dine there. Hostess and waitress are friendly but during busy hours (sort of expected) they need to improve how to provide their quality service to customers.

* Food Quality: Below average (large quantity but less tasteful)
* Parking: Good enough (They offer their own parking lot without any fee)
* Avoid factor: If you are looking for authentic Chinese food or even good Chinese-​American food, you may get disappointed.
* Recommendation: Call ahead of time and make a reservation since they tend to get busy during weekends

Great Place!
I wondered after some rather mediocre reviews, but we found the food very good, the service perfect and the serving portions massive.
We had the Chicken Trio dish and found it to be almost more than two could eat.
I’d return, no problem. I could also have no problem bringing friends here for a meal.

The food is average, but consistent. I normally pick up my dinner here while I am on the road because I know what I am going to get. The last two visits, however, they have forgotten the sweet and sour part of sweet and sour chicken. Maybe I should check the bag before I leave the restaurant, that is on me. But really? To forget the sweet and sour sauce two times in a row now? Come on! Helena is not big but my hotel is across town and I do not feel like going back for the sauce.
Moral of the story: check your bag before you leave or just dine in!

I can appreciate some of the reviews on here which mention that the food at the Jade Garden is on the bland side, and yet while it is not the greatest Chinese food I’ve ever had, I found it to be decent and flavorful.
The food itself would rate at least 3 stars, but what brought my review to 4 stars was the experience. We had the popo platter which came with a flame pit for searing your meat which was surprising and fun, the waitress provided excellent service even though she was busy, and they had hot sake, which is always a plus!
Lastly, I enjoyed the décor and atmosphere. I especially loved the jade dragon ship they have on display when you walk in. I’d love to have one of those :)

This place is a retro-​fitted old JBs Big Boy or something. The waiting area is hilariously bottlenecked and the only place to sit down is inside the coat closet. The most unsettling thing about our experience there was that the waitstaff was A) very disogranized and flustered or B) incredibly expedient.
We were rushed to our table and our main dishes were served within 3 minutes after getting our appetizers — signaling that all the food is sitting in a steam-​table and not prepared fresh. And it tasted that way. The food was bland and had the look and consistency of slop.
I’ve spent more time in a drive-​thru than we did at this sitdown restaurant with $ 16 plates of food. We had a very nice waitress, but she was rushing rushing rushing around and everyone seemed to be in a huge hurry all over the restaurant. It’s one of the most bizarre dining experiences I’ve ever had. My wife and I left completely unsatisfied and actually on edge from being rushed around so much.
I would not return to this place if the meal was free.
