The pastys and frappes are a bit pricey. I had the breakfast pasty and it was delicious, but it had a lot of ground pepper added to it. My huckleberry frappé wasn’t really a frappé, but more like huckleberry flavored milk. It still tasted good though.

Got to say don’t worry about calories. This is excellent food for when you crave that certain taste. My favorite is the corn beef and cabbage. Only available certain times of year. The regular pasty with gravy is excellent I can make two meals out of one… so share the yum!

I’ve tried quite a few of the specialty pasties now, and they are excellent. Chicken pot pie, Philly cheesesteak, and my favorite so far, corned beef and cabbage. Wednesdays are vegetarian special day, with offerings like coconut veggie curry. It is awesome that these folks are thinking outside the traditional pastie box, or crust, or whatever. Ham and scalloped potatoes, and shepards pie are future possibilities. Check their Facebook page for updates. Milkshakes are also excellent, old-school drinkable-through-a-straw delights. There is a also a new kitschy AstroTurf lawn and pleasant outdoor seating area. Now offering side salads with house-made dressings(I think) to cut the meat and carb bomb.

Decided to try them again. You would think it was completely different place based on this pasty. I knew it was the same because the meat was still as peppery as last time. The dough was be perfectly done, the potatoes were all cooked well, and the meat was tender instead of chewy. I still think it could use a little more salt, but this pasty was actually enjoyable. Tried the gravy this time which was pretty good.

Fantastic. Haven’t been disappointed yet. Best pasty in the Helena area, bar none.

First of all, it’s neat to see that the food truck concept is growing in Helena. It seems like a great way for people to focus on their specialty without making a huge investment in a brick and mortar restaurant. Though it’s apparent the Copperline folks have made a considerable investment in their food truck because it looks fantastic, and I really appreciate their attention to style and detail in building their brand. I’ve had both the regular and breakfast pasty, and was very happy with both. The crust is awesome — perfectly flaky and buttery. Like another reviewer pointed out, I felt that the potatoes in my traditional pasty could have used a little more time in the oven, but I do like the way they are sliced thin because each bite turns out balanced with a little bit of everything. The gravy was a good addition(i got it on the side), though not the best I’ve had. And the breakfast pasty is just perfect and something I would gobble up daily but shudder to think of the calories in that delicious crust! Looking forward to seeing what other flavors they come up with, I’m thinking a pork green chile version sounds good! Maybe sweet potato black bean for the vegetarians? The possibilities are endless :)
