Honestly, I was pretty disappointed with my first visit to The Melting Pot. First, let’s start with the atmosphere… the restaurant itself is small and intimate(which is actually a good thing), the problem is that it needs some updating. Décor seems a little outdated and off. There obvious spots on the walls where you can tell they used touch-up paint in one spot and it stands out like a sore thumb. There are light fixtures that have non-functioning light bulbs, as in they just need to be replaced. So the overall feel is/was bad. Second, the length of time waiting for the next portion rather than the time spent eating dinner is somewhat absurd. I enjoy when restaurants put careful thought into the dining experience, but this felt like you were somewhat forgotten. By the time they get around to bringing the next type of fondue, you feel like you’ve been waiting for ages. In all, we spent close to 2 hours in the restaurant and I would venture to say that 75 – 90 minutes of that time was spent waiting. Third, the price! Let’s talk about this — for what they offer & charge, there are FARBETTER dining experiences in the Greenville area! A place like Rick Erwin’s West End Grille(similar price point) provides a far better experience and a far more unique, thought-through menu. So unless you’re an absolute die-hard fan, you’re better off enjoying your dinner & time somewhere else.

This visit came across for two very important events of the year: SC Restaurant Week and Josh’s birthday. We came here with his parents, and it was perfect for an intimate birthday dinner. They even started the evening with a birthday card that included a free dessert the next time he came in. For Restaurant Week they had a pretty good deal for a four course meal for $ 30. The meal included a specialty cheese course that was partnered with Thomas Creek, a salad, a meat sampler course, and a dessert fondue. Everything was great, but if I had my choice to do it again, I would probably just come back for wine and dessert. This way, when I overeat, at least I know it was on the best part! The service was mostly good. It seemed like our waiter was pretty enthusiastic, and I understand this isn’t supposed to be a quick meal. I just feel like there was a lot of waiting between being done with courses and the next course coming out. Other than that it was a perfect way to celebrate two of my favorite things in South Carolina!

My husband and I went here on a weekend and of course expected it to be very busy and busy it was… But we never felt like it. Our server Caroline was amazing, charming and provided us with some of the best service we’ve had since moving to Greenville about a year ago. We will absolutely be back and request her again in the future.

Great food and ambiance. Quite dark, though. Smells a bit of mildew(like the kind you smell in those black rubber mats in the back of a restaurant). You get MORE than full from this meal. It can get pricey, though. Upwards of $ 125 for two people. The experience makes it worthwhile. You cook your own food in the fondue. Be sure to get the milk chocolate fondue dessert. Nothing beats chocolate covered strawberries and cheesecake!

First time to The Melting Pot. Staff were courteous and helpful. Our waitress walked us thru the process as newbies. We selected the four course meals so we could experience everything. Cheese appetizer was good. The salad was good but nothing unique. We got the French Quarter entrée. It was wonderful. Great seasoning and tender. The desert was great, but anything dipped in chocolate is great. Can’t wait to go back. It is an experience.
