I love sushi and that is all I get at Tabeya. Allow me to tell you a little about this restaurant: –Sushi for lunch is $ 9.99(dinner is $ 14.99) for UNLIMITED soup, salad(they have five to pick from) appetizers, special rolls, fried rolls, and usual rolls. The down side is that most of the rolls are fairly plain, but they are very good. And when it comes to unlimited sushi and anything else I could really want, I’m happy. I’ve been to a lot of other sushi places, and their rolls are usually $ 10 just for ONE. So yes, I’m happy that there is an unlimited sushi place where they make my order for me. –Downside of the freshness is that it takes them a while to get your order to you. My fiancé and I have happily waited up to almost 25 – 30 minutes to get our sushi rolls. If you have time to enjoy a meal, this is the place to go. If you are in a rush, look elsewhere. –Sometimes the wait staff is bad about bringing you the soups/appetizers you mark on the buffet menu, but they are sweet about it if you point out that it is missing and still want it. Salads are made by the sushi chef, so they usually get there. Also, sometimes you get items you don’t mark on your sushi tray and sometimes there are rolls missing… Due to people ordering 20 – 40 pieces of sushi each, I think the sushi chef(for there is only one =() gets overwhelmed and sometimes mixes stuff up. But have no fear, almost everything on the sushi menu is amazing! If you didn’t get something that you ordered, just send another buffet menu marked with the missing items and the second time they always seem to get it right. Overall, I love this place. It’s cheap for sushi and it is very good. It isn’t fast and sometimes you have to work with the staff to get exactly what you want, but if you can look past that, you’ll see a wonderful place that has awesome unlimited sushi.

I thought they did a very nice job converting a Wendy’s to a Japanese restaurant, but that’s about all I can say was done well. The sushi was horrible; hardly worth eating. It’s price was on par with the other, better, sushi places down the raod. No point in going to this place.

I remembered first drove by this location, which used to be a Wendy’s if my memory serves me correctly, and saw an OPENINGSOON banner. It was a month or two I found out it was going to be a Sushi/Japanese restaurant. Since then I have been wanting to come here and give it a try. Almost a full year since, I have finally got my taste a couple weeks ago. It was a Friday, and almost all the tables were full, including two big parties around 10+ people, and I would have to assume most folks here were for the sushi buffet, since they advertise the special openly, yet since I walked in at 6:30PM there has only been one sushi chef behind the bar. My brother and I put in order shortly after arriving, and thank goodness that fried/tempura and soups and salad comes from the kitchen behind, otherwise I am kinda well known for my short temper when I have to wait ridiculously long for my food. After the food slowly arrived, we just dived right in. Overall, the taste of all the food is not bad at all. The specialty sushi rolls were pretty good, but nothing out of the ordinary. The temaki/hand-rolled sushi was wrapped kind of sloppy, but the taste was there; try the salmon skin roll while you at it. The seaweed salad was very mild, and so was the miso soup, perfect to balance out the rest of the order. I will be honest. Given the same price, I would probably prefer Tokyo Japan.

Food quality: 1⁄5 i have never been angry at a restaurant for their horrible food like i was here Service: 2.5÷5 they did come frequently refilling our water. But forgetting basic things like straws, utensils, chopsticks, napkins, soya saucers, and having to ask for it, was really frustrating, and just frankly shocking for a japanese sushi restaurant. Décor: 3⁄5 It looks like a wendy’s w/a fresh coat of paint and some semi decent furniture. Return factor: 0⁄5. Even though they have coupons, will never ever come back here. THere are far superior sushi places that are very close by. Why would anyone go to Tabeya, vs all the other places??? Worst sushi restaurant in Greenville. Hands down none is worse than this place. I love sushi, ate it all the best places in North America: West Coast, NYC, Toronto. I’ve tried Wasabi 88, Tokyo, Japan Inn, and sadly this one. Of the 4, this is by far and away the worst. They have a coupon, the only saving grace. We went as a group of 7 on a fri night, 3 – 4 weeks ago, and they only had 1 sushi chef, 1… on a fri night… there was only 3 other tables of 4 in the whole restaurant but we had to wait more than 45 minutes for our sushi. Mind u some of us ordered the all you can eat garbage, but that doesn’t mean we should have to wait that long. The service was horrible and very rude to all of us, even me who is an Asian. There were no chopsticks, had to ask for them, even when they brought out our food out, there were no soya sauce saucers… i dont know bout u, but those are just small things that shouldn’t have to be asking for at a sushi restaurant. Whoever says this is good sushi is well… lets just say i would never trust their opinion again. There are better restaurants who also serve just as cheap sushi at a much superior quality. To those that say well, its all you can eat, Japan Inn has all you can eat and its much better than here but still not great itself either. their deal of order one specialty roll get one free, well its one of their generic garbage rolls. Some of us ordered that special and were sadly disappointed. Wasabi 88 has order one chef specialty roll, get another SPECIALTY roll free, not a generic one. Their slices of fish on their sushi were extremely thin, almost like if you u were to go into a deli in a grocery store and get them to slice their cold cuts for u. But in the grocery store u pay 3.99/lb and get ur moneys worth, rather than the amt this restaurants tries to rip u off on. Their rolls are all typical north carolina style w/sauce ontop of another sauce ontop of a roll. But here they went overboard with the sweet sauce, maybe trying to hide the fact that they know their rolls are garbage and trying to sweeten the crap they are trying to charge you for. The one decent thing i semi enjoyed was their tempura. The last kicker was when bill time came around, they didn’t split our group bill, and when we asked them too, they gave us a «are you kidding me» look. I looked around the restaurant, empty at that point. I guess working is a hard thing to do. Small thing i know, but when it compounds with everything else just makes a bad night. I dont understand, trying to win customers and making them happy should be their #1 priority. But I guess not, and it showed w/only 4 tables that fri night, pretty sad…

This place just opened up over the weekend. It was used to be Wendy’s and they redecorated the place with faux wood vinyl floors and color changing lights. Similar to Fuji Japan and Japan Inn, this place serves Sushi and your oh so typical Japanese food. Just like any other restaurants in the east, opening weekend was filled with chaos and frustrated customers. First, there were a few idiots who didn’t really have a clue about what they exactly ordered and then some of the servers had no clue about who ordered what. Also, some servers got the name of the dish confused. For example, Hibachi Chicken instead of Terriyaki Chicken. Fortunately the food quality was great! Sushi rolls were well made and so were the entrees. I had the Terriyaki Steak and Tempura Shrimp combination box. For 15 bucks you get six pieces of fried tempura shrimp, thinly sliced ribeye steak, a few pieces of crab ragoon and fried rice in one big bento box. Each shrimp was packed with panko bread crumbs and perfectly fried. The steak was well marinated thogh a bit overcooked. Overall I am satisfied with this place. Great food and decent prices. I don’t really care about service and neither should you. Go there to enjoy the food! I will definitely be coming back in a few weeks after they work the kinks out.
