Order a special Thali for the dinner and you will love the food. Breads are better and they have specials running during weekdays. Ambience is good and I like the bar area. Update — This place is closed!

My brother-in-law(who is a huge foodie and great cook himself) found this place and our lives have never been the same! We generally go for the lunch buffet, you get to try new things, it’s awesome! Always come hungry and ask your server for suggestions; I have never had anything bad and I’m a picky person when it comes to spending money out on food. I would recommend the dosa, there are a bunch of different kinds along with a yummy bread selection that works great to soak up your sauce. If you have never had Indian food this place is great. Spicy if you like it or mild for those like me. And if you can’t decide at dinner get the thali plate, you get an assortment of different dishes. The service is almost as good as the food so go to spice of Indian Greenville and enjoy an extraordinary meal:)

My wife and I fell in love with Indian food while living in Los Angeles before moving to South Carolina. She’s a vegetarian and Indian cuisine gives her so many options compared to a typical American cuisine menu. We were disappointed with the lack of options in Greenville until we found Spice of India last night by accident. The atmosphere, food and service was fantastic. Very excited about finding this place!

Delightfully tasty buffet! Best and least expensive Indian buffet in Greenville. Generally speaking, Spice of India offers intensely flavorful food(though not necessarily spicy in the sense of hot). Upon arrival your server will offer hot and soft naan, delivered to your table at no extra charge. I recommend you try the cheese naan. The Chicken Tikka Masala is outstanding — probably the best I’ve had anywhere. The Shahi Paneer is scrumptious. I’ve enjoyed a couple of their tasty curries. Their Korma is good. Handi’s is better. I also prefer Handi’s service. Saffron’s service is outstanding as well. Spice of India has, in repeated visits, shown itself in need of improvement when it comes to service. For me, the food makes up for it. Others will not tolerate such inattentive service — especially with other excellent Indian restaurants to choose from in Greenville. Spice also offers a special lunch take-out menu(similar to Saffron’s, my former local favorite). I tried the Chicken Curry. It was as delicious as I anticipated. What I did not anticipate was the portion. It was miniscule. My best guess is that the curry container held 8 oz. For affordable lunch take-out Saffron is still the only game in town. It’s worthy of note that Spice of India partners with which means you can get their food delivered to your door anywhere in Greenville country. For a super value get their lunch buffet. They now even offer a very reasonably priced evening buffet on Mondays! If you like Indian food or just want to try it for the first time Spice of India is highly recommended.

Second visit is not going that good. bhel is kind of bland and all the orders are taking quite long even if half the place is empty! But the main course came out excellent! We had Panir Bhurji, Eggplant Bhartha and two types of Naan. All of them were tasty.

My husband and I came for the lunch buffet. No one was up front to greet us upon arrival. Food was authentic and spicy. Food was hot, fresh, and our waiter brought out fresh Naan bread. The buffet was lacking in the way of authentic desserts. They did have fresh fruit, but grapes have seeds. You either have to cut them up or spit out seeds. NOTGOOD. And all fruit was separated, but in same container. Presentation was very unappealing. Waiter was attentive, cleared dishes promptly. Tucked away off of the main drag of Woodruff Rd., not so bad. Restaurant itself seemed very open, comfortable, and well laid out. It’s ok.

Came to the lunch buffet with a BOGO coupon. Not up to expectations whatsoever. Happy to have the free lunch coupon to offset my disappointment.

Way way above average buffet that I would put up against any of the GVL area standard full menu Indian restaurants with regards to taste and quality. The only down side is that the options were a little limiting, but that is digging deep. Over all I am very pleased and will come back. I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family.

Not too impressive from the outside but the staff is great and the food was excellent. I had the lentil soup, garlic nan and chicken tiki masala and all were the best I have had anywhere. Price was also reasonable.

Food is okay but the service could really use improvements. We visited the restaurant twice thinking it might have improved over time but we were let down both times.

My co-worker and I went for lunch to try to the buffet and give this place another chance. Walking into the restaurant we noticed that the glass doors were filthy and had not been cleaned in sometime(not an image you want to portray for a restaurant). We were seated promptly and quickly went to buffet. Everything looked nice, but we were sorely disappointed. The food was heavy on cream and no spiciness. The worst part was during the meal, a pressure washer or some other internal combustion driven device was being used INSIDETHEKITCHEN during lunch. We could smell and hear the machine while we ate. During this time, various employees from the back came up to the buffet and helped themselves(with dirty aprons and all). My co-worker and I will not be going back to this establishment.

If you’ve been around Greenville for a few years, you’re probably familiar with the building this restaurant is in. It’s the site of several failed restaurants on Market Point, behind Whole Foods. I think I ate at two of the restaurants housed there over the years and I enjoyed both. This, however was the first time that I noticed that someone, at some point, spent an obscene amount of money to make this place look like the location of a Scarface shootout. Why did I notice that this time? It probably had to do with the insanely bright lights that these guys have on full blast in the dining room. We were in a booth and it felt like there was a spotlight right on us. The rest of the place was so lit up that I half expected Michelle Pfeiffer to saunter down the stairs while Tony Montana was getting shot and falling off the balcony onto the dining room floor. But all of that is meaningless if the food is awesome, right? I agree. And the food isn’t awful, but it isn’t anywhere close to other Indian restaraunts in the area either. We were greeted with popadoms with chutney. The chutney had an odd, bitter flavor and a flat finish on the palate that I found unpleasant. My companion also found it odd, but did appreciate the note of orange flavor in it. I’m not sure what they were going for, but if they wanted to rescue it, the flavor palate needed some acid to brighten the finish and some salt. Dinner arrived with very nice presentation. Everything was served beautifully and looked great. Unfortunately, the aloo gobi had a burned flavor and had a similar bitter and flat finish to the chutney. Not the worst thing I’ve ever been served, but nothing I’d ever ask to have seconds of either. The chicken tikka masala was quite good and was the best of the dishes we ordered. The saag paneer was not bad, but needed salt. The naan was doughy and undercooked. The rice was very well cooked and seasoned. It’s almost as though they had a dedicated rice cook and then had some other guy do all the rest. Is this place fixable? Definitely. The staff seem to be caring and thoughtful and they can make this work if they keep at it. A little more liberal use of the salt shaker and some tasting of the food by the chef and things can be rescued. Will I be back? Most likely, no. I’m headed right up the road where I know they have things mostly figured out already.

I loved the food here. We came for a quick dinner on a Tuesday night. We got great service and they brought us a little extra appetizer on the house for not having a first choice item available within our time constraints(and it was nice that they let us know that.) We ordered the vegetarian thali and goat tikka. I have never had coconut soup before, and it was amazing here. We liked the mulligatawny soup better than Saffron’s. My only complaint was the garlic naan was not garlicky enough! Such a nice atmosphere! I really hope they are around for a long time!

My wife and I have traveled a lot and we have eaten Indian food in most places we travel. Spice of India has it all. Great tasting food, ambiance, staff, and prices. We will go back here ONLY when we crave Indian food. My recommendation is lose the metal compartmentalized trays and more of a difference between the vegetarian and meat thali.

Expensive and tasteless food as compared to other restaurants in greenville. You might like this more than handi but thats it. Service is terribly slow. Expectations rise when you enter. Its got the class and all but food is hopeless. They offer certain south indian food which i m sure is frozen food. North indian food is fresher but creamier. Very bland and the base is same for any curry you order. I dont understand why there are so many 5 stars. Its funny.

Very, very flavorful food, beautiful modern décor and excellent service. A bit off Woodruff Rd so seek and find for the best Indian food in Greenville. Sauces were super smooth and spiced as I liked it. Vegan to multiple protein(animal and not) options, I hope they stick around for a very long time!

A great restaurant with a warm service and an awesome taste in Indian Cuisine! I am so glad that Spice of India is here in Greenville, SC as all my friends and colleagues would readily agree. I would personally appreciate a lot if the buffet is well balanced equally with North and South Indian recipes than having more of North Indian and very less of South Indian. Hopefully, Spice of India people will make a note of this and implement it soon. On the whole, Spice of India is by far the very best Indian restaurant in town! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

A first time trying Indian food. Loved it, was able to taste a little bit of north and south. Restaurant is beautiful and its a great place for dinner with a date. Food was fresh and aromatic. Got a wonderful mango mixed drink with fresh mint. prices are very reasonable as well.

This upscale Indian restaurant impresses with its regal ambiance and first rate service. The modern elegant dining room adds a touch of class to the precedings. I recommend the lunch buffet offering authentic Indian cuisine such as chicken tandoori, malai kofta, allo matar tamatar and fresh baked naan among many other selections. Be sure to try the spiced ice tea. The tantalizing flavors create a superior dining experience and make Spice of India a step above the rest.
