I was recently married and decided that I needed to get Valuable Personal Property Insurance for my wife’s engagement ring just in case her ring happened to be lost. It wasn’t the easiest finding a jewelry appraiser in the Greenville area. I went to Unilocal and found Skatell’s.
I walked in right when they opened on a Monday at 10:00am and told a gentleman about what I needed done. He told me that it is $ 125 for an appraisal for ONE PIECE and that they will have to hold on to the item until Thursday evening or Friday morning. $ 125? 5 days?
This was the first time I have ever had to get jewelry appraised but still thought that seemed fairly pricey. I ended googling the average cost and it ranged from $ 35-​$ 50 for one piece.
The only reason that I am outraged is that I called two other jewelry companies in the Greenville area and they could have it completed within two days, didn’t hold on to the ring, and we’re only $ 40-​$ 45.
I don’t know how these guys pop up as #1 when you search «jewelry appraisals near Greenville, SC.» Unreal.
