Rita’s Italian Ice

Very friendly & helpful service. You may have free samples of any flavor they have. If you’ve never been to Rita’s & can’t decide between the ice & custard, try the Gelati (it has both). Great summer taste & refreshment.

Having few friends in Philly brag about Rita’s ice water, I was curious as to what exactly was water ice, or ice water, whatever you call it.
OK, it’s Italian ice served fresh.
It’s flippin delicious, it’s much more affordable than froyo or marble slab creamery. It is perfect for the hot summers in SC, and I think it would be just as nice for all the other seasons.
I got lemonade and mango. Lemonade italian ice had few pulp in them, which led me to believe that all the flavor s are fresh and real.
Now onto the location. It’s located right next to Home Depot, in a shopping center. It’s right below my parents’ subdivision which is über convenient for me, and though it’s not ideal to grasp the Cherrydale clientele, I think they’ll do fine.
According to the girl who was working there (turns out her family owns the business, way to go!), they’ve been open for about 9 weeks. It was not crowded, 2 girls ahead of me, followed by 2 kids and a parent behind me.
It’s clean, there is a drive thru (of course there is a drive thru in s.c. score!), and free wifi. I recommend going into the store to sample the flavors.
The lemonade was a bit tangy but definitely delicious, especially during this humid, hot, ridiculous weather. The mango flavor was AMAZING. It was perfectly sweet, but it didn’t have that fake taste to it.
I think I may frequent this joint a whole lot more this summer.
