If it were possible I would give this Travelodge zero stars. On July 18th, I made a reservation for the Travelodge in Greenville using their website. I received a confirmation email and never thought twice about it until I got to Greenville to check-in. We arrived around 10pm, and went to the front office to check-in. After checking the computer, I was told that my reservation had been cancelled. I had just driven 6 hours to Hickory NC to pick up my father, and then 4 additional hours to Greenville — needless to say, cancelled wasn’t a word I wanted to hear. When I asked why, the owner informed me that he had tried to run my card at 7pm that evening and it didn’t go through. Now, I won’t tell you how much was in my bank account, but let’s just say that I’m pretty good at math and there was more than enough money in it to cover the two nights at the Travelodge. When asked why he didn’t call to inform me of this and try to reconcile the issue, he says he didn’t have my phone number. This is a complete lie — my phone number is clearly listed on my confirmation email and therefore I know it’s listed in his system. Two final things: First, my confirmation email it clearly states, «Payment Method: We require a valid credit card to confirm your reservation and guarantee your room. Any require deposit or pre-payment will be charged to this card immediately. Otherwise, your card will not be charged until you check out.» My card was never charged immediately, therefore(according to the above policy) it shouldn’t have been charged until check-out, so why was the owner running my card at 7pm the day of check-in? Second — I don’t want to speculate on what he actually did with the room — but from 7pm(when he supposedly ran my card) and 10pm when we arrived — my room was already given to someone else. Something is fishy here… The silver lining in all of this is that the hotel next door — Baymont Inn and Suites — had a suite available. And after telling the wonderful lady at the front desk of my unfortunate events next door, she was more than happy to give me a great price for a two-night stay.

Pretty basic, older motel — it is not spotlessly clean, I noticed that the bathtub had not been cleaned so carefully, there were a couple spots that whoever cleaned it had missed, for example, but in general the room was OK and at least fairly clean. I was very happy to find this place as I was driving north in the direction of Virgina Beach late at night and had attempted to find a place in New Bern only to discover that everything there was in the $ 100 range(apparently budget hotels are illegal in New Bern or something), so kept driving and got caught in a torrential rain storm while in Greenville with almost zero visibility and pretty much literally stumbled into this motel, which was $ 48 a night for one person. Staff was friendly and helpful. they have extended cable and HBO, the TV worked well. If in the area again I would consider this option, it is a simple budget motel but does the job. The bed was very comfortable, there is internet, room is pretty sizable.
