Compadres Mexmex Grill

Three words: Oh My God.
I’ve always been a fan of this place. This time we seated ourselves and our server was there to take our drink orders almost immediately. Entrees came out within 15 minutes or less.
I ordered the Poblano Quesadilla with steak and it was amazing. The steak was juicy, tender and flavorful. The chipotle sauce was subtle with just the right amount of heat and just enough flavor to enhance the dish without overpowering it. The grilled onions and peppers were garden fresh. This was probably the best thing I’ve eaten all month.
The atmosphere is clean, tastefully decorated and appropriate for any occasion. I would come here for a quiet date night, after work happy hour, family dinner with small children, or Sunday after church lunch.
This place is the real deal. Fresh and flavorful dishes, prompt and friendly service. My pregnant wife wistfully recalls that the margaritas are excellent as well. We are both Mexican dining connoisseurs, and we both agree that anyone would be hard pressed to find a better Mexican grill dining experience in the Upstate.

Well when my pops suggested a Mexican buffet for lunch my bowels immediately went into panic mode. Let me just say that montezuma’s revenge will not be heading my way. For 8 bucks you actually get real cooked food !! I know, I know. Hard to believe right. But the food was really good. Standout was the chicken with Nogales. Pretty much everything you would expect. Including the oddly placed fried shrimp. Kinda weird but hey. It is South Carolina. All in all I will most definitely recommend compadres for lunch buffet. That is all. Nap time.

Awesome interior, and the food is very well prepared with generous portions. Has to be one of the best Mexican places in spartanburg.

Really great mexican food! The buffet is pretty tasty & now they even make hot toritllas layered with meat, veggies & egg while you wait. There is however NO melted cheese dip on the bar. maybe on the menu but not on the bar. Chile Colorado is my new FAVORITE entrée (it’s also on the bar) along with Ceviche (yep, on the bar as well)

Tried this place when it first opened. I went for the lunch Buffet with people from work. Food was good. Well worth the $ 6 price. I have heard the price has gone up since I went.
