Nachos are beyond delicious! I think there are 5 – 7 types of salsa on them. My daughter & I shared them and it was plenty. A must if you ever get to the west end of Greenville. Service is great, too, IF you get the right server! The girl that waited on us has worked there 3 years, I think she said, & was on point. Never an empty glass & everything we kept asking for(sorry) she got to us as soon as she could. We will definitely be back!

I have been to Chicora Alley a number is times for a number of occasions, from lunch for two, dinner for 15+, to drinks at the bar. The food and service is consistently good.

We eat here occasionally for dinner and are never disappointed when it comes to the food, drinks or service. Last night we came in around 6 p. m for a couple drinks and a light dinner. It’s a slow weekend in Greenville so I’d say the restaurant was about a quarter full so we grabbed a seat at the bar in the front room. This place will typically have live music and normally starts filling up with more people closer to 9 – 10 p.m. The bartender was friendly, greeted us as soon as we walked up to the bar and was ready to take our drink order whenever we were ready. There’s always a decent selection of beers on draft or in a bottle, I opted for a St. Terese’s Pale Ale and my girlfriend had a mixed drink she saw the bartender make including vodka, peach, mango, grapefruit, etc. We went ahead and ordered and opted to split a cup of the Chicken Tortilla Soup and a Jerked Chicken Salad. Both were great, with the Jerked Chicken Salad being one of my favorite things on the menu(you also have to check out the Mom’s Cream Cheese Chicken Enchiladas). The salad has a fantastic mango salsa and is definitely a full meal for one person. I rounded out the dinner with one more drink, a Moscow Mule(they have many good variations of this drink here) with ginger bourbon which the bartender recommended to another patron and was pretty knowledgeable when I asked him about it which was nice. All in all this is a great place to grab some dinner and drinks, or roll in a little later for drinks and live music. And being located in the West End you’re not far from plenty of other great bars/restaurants/baseball field so can easily include Chicora on your list of places to hit for the night.

Super pleased with the large and creative menu. Prices were very reasonable for the amount of food you received. Fun spot in downtown near Falls Park. Service was good. My husband and I will be back!

I visited Chicora Alley on a Sunday afternoon after walking my Dog in the falls on the reedy park. Im working in the area and heard a lot about it so I decided to give it a try. Everything was great. I ordered the jerk shrimp. Burrito which was a intricate blend of mushrooms, red peppers, plantains spinach and goat cheese that worked surprsingly well. Came with beans and rice and a small salad that came with delicious sweet type dressing. I ordered guac on the side but it was brown by the time I ate my meal which can happen when dealing with avacados. The parking down there right now is a mess so my only gripe was having to pay 5 dollars to run in for carryout. I will return but will definitely have to find other parking which is nearly impossible at the moment.

I’ve eaten here several times before and the food was great. Went there for lunch today and it was in one word: «awful.» My friend’s tacos(it was taco Tuesday) were ice cold and he had to send them back. My half order of nachos had a lot of problems as well. My nachos weren’t at all hot. I thought at first it was the pineapple on there, but then noticed the cheese sauce was cold and the shredded cheese was barely melted and mostly still just cold and shredded. I also think the chicken wasn’t cooked thoroughly and it almost smelled rotten. I’m sure it wasn’t, but it tasted awful and smelled awful. It almost looked like the restaurant just boiled the chicken. Just disappointed because I really liked this place. Hopefully this is an isolated incident, but I won’t be coming back.

This is a must stop for vegans in Greenville. I initially wasn’t eager to go because Unilocalers raved about the burrito, and I eat those a lot. You can get a vegan burrito anywhere that doesn’t use lard. Meh. But there is more! You can sub jerk tofu for meat with the burgers! I ordered the Chicora Burger with jerk tofu and sweet potato fries. The Chicora burger is topped with pico de gallo and guacamole. The jerk tofu is not hot(to me), which is fine with me. They actually put a jerk sauce on the tofu. Plus, it’s soft. Melts in your mouth. The sweet potato fries were crunchy outside, soft inside. I think they were seasoned, but not sure with what. I inhaled them and didn’t really savor the flavor… Thumbs up to the guacamole, though it is hard to screw that up. Beer was cheap(compared to my hometown, Chicago). $ 4 for St. Theresa(or Therese?) pale ale. And the bartender, Justin, was super nice. Good portions for the price. I have leftovers. A beer, sandwich and fries for $ 15 is a good deal for dinner, I think. All they need is a vegan dessert.

Okay Chicora Alley, I love you guys and stop in almost every time I’m in town for the tower of nachos, but the last couple times things have been pretty slack. I still love the nachos and the brisket and even the enchiladas, but the service is going downhill. Longer than normal wait times for service can be explained, but servers that aren’t even knowledgeable about the menu is just lazy. It’s also time to update that menu. The beer selection is never correct. If the beer list rotates, then make a separate paper menu or something. Multiple times(even in the same visit) have I decided on a beer only to be told you no longer carry it. Last time I tried to get a draft beer then found out that taps were either broken or just kicked and you only had Blue Moon and one other beer on tap… really? As I said, I still love the food but I’m noticing a downward trend with the service that needs to be addressed.

I met my fiancé and his co-workers there after work the night and was pleasantly surprised. It took me a moment to find it. It is a little bit«hole in wall» but i was pleasantly surprised! My fiancé had ordered me the Jerk Shrimp Salad. It was so good! The shrimp was seasoned perfectly and wasn’t to spicy! I could have eaten 2 of them! The service was good considering we were a group of about 10 – 15 people. The guy who was our server was on top of it and keep everyone’s drinks filled. Can’t wait to go back and try something different!

Great atmosphere for a fun night out. I ordered the spicy chicken tacos and was a bit underwhelmed. The tacos have shredded chicken which I do not like but if you are cool with that type of chicken you may enjoy the tacos. The service was really good even though it was really busy.

This place has very friendly service, and some great vegetarian options. I really enjoyed the hummus. I loved the Vegan Burrito, especially because it had plantains in it. And, there’s just something about the *Veggie Quesadilla* that blew my mind. The drinks are good, too, and they have some nice beers on tap.

I like Chicora as a bar to hang out in, and I love some of their menu options(the house salad dressing is great, as are the fried mac and cheese and the roasted red pepper quesadilla). But I think it’s just a bit too loud to be a good place to eat dinner; also, while I’ve always experienced stellar service at the bar(especially the one in the back), table service is okay at best. The employees are friendly but always seem to be a bit absent-minded, as every time I’ve eaten here I’ve had to ask at least twice when ordering another beer. Speaking of beer, though, they have a good beer selection, as well as some great(and numerous) vegetarian items. Prices are decent as well, especially for downtown — on my last visit I had the aforementioned quesadilla and two beers and with tax it came to under $ 18. I do wish they had a better entrance because I always feel weird taking people up there for the first time, but once inside the noise level is really the only ‘issue’ with the location.

Chicora Alley has the most amazing and mouth watering ‘Mile High Nachos’ you will ever find in Greenville, and quite possibly, any where else on Earth! It comes with a combination of several different salsas, which are different(such as the one with grapes) but wonderfully delicious. Though it is an appetizer, there is so much of it that you can have it as a main course. There are many other scrumptious dishes on the menu worth ordering as well. The atmosphere is relaxing and the wait staff is very friendly. There was a time when my to-go order was mixed up and they were went out of their way to fix the issue. That alone would be a reason to visit this lovely restaurant.

Had dinner with my daughter service was great Attentive and not hovering but always available! We were there and had free chips and salsa due to being there at happy hour Meal #1 fish tacos … Daughter loved and were fresh and yummy served with rice and black beans Meal #2 California Burger Toppings of spinach, roasted red pepper, grilled onions and goat Cheese were great! Bun was fair and simple, burger was well done –BTW I was not asked how I would like this cooked. Burger was fair and came in two pieces as if the cook was unsure as if it was done I accepted it but probably should have sent it back Sweet potatoe fries and jalapeño ketchup rocks I will go back but avoid a burger next time !

Didn’t have much food but the snack that we had was really good. Enjoyed the Greenville Jazz Collective there. Would like to revisit for more menu exploration.

They have a vast menu, which is nice, and many vegan and vegetarian options. The food though is mediocre and bland, but decent. The main appeal is the diverse menu, and I really enjoyed the location and décor. The price is a bit much for the quality, but they also give fairly large portions. Overall a decent restaurant, but nothing great or special at all.
