This hidden gem at the border of Queens and Long Island serves one of most delicious butter chicken, paneer makhani and goat curry. My go to restaurant for take out.

Tasty Indian food prepared with dirty hands and in dirty settings got it a B grade from dept of health. I am surprised they didn’t fail it. Plus the owner is stingy and wouldn’t even give you extra sauce even after spending 100s on food. Bad service, rude owner and dirty food doesn’t deserve another visit.

I was hankering for Indian, so I called ahead for pickup(they don’t deliver). Arrived at the suggested time, 30 minutes, but still had to wait an additional 20. This, despite the fact that there were only 5 other customers, all eating the lunch buffet! The food: Butter chicken so salty I watched my ankles swell; goat curry gristly and full of bones; and the mortal sin of them all: barely baked nan. I’m blessed to live in a nabe with lots of choices. This won’t be one of them again.

First of all I want to say that my husband and me have been going to this place for about 5 – 6 years! We love indian food and we’ve been to many other places, but this one is the best! It’s always fool of flavor, perfectly cooked and they have great selection for lunch buffet. The most important thing is that the food is always fresh! It’s always nice to see same waiter during all these years, who is very nice and friendly! I wish the owner was the same way, probably after so many years going to this place he wouldn’t even recognize us. But because the food is soooo good who cares about the owner.

We went there and placed order for delivery at home for important guests. Came home and called to change time. They declined our request. Two hours later the driver called stating he needs directions and his iPhone gps was not working. Navigated him for 15 mins on the phone. Food arrived. They missed raita. We called they said they forgot to write down and now won’t deliver. Some naans were burnt and burn portions were hand removed — how unprofessional! Why not make new naans? Embarrassing when serving the guests. Will not order again!

Flavor of India used to be good, about ten years ago. I was there last year and ordered takeout and was disappointed with the quality of the food. I decided to try it again and went last week with my family. First of all the owner is rude and only greets certain customers. There was one guy who had multiple roles of waiter, dishwasher, server, etc. the service was horrible and extremely slow. When he set up our table he literally threw the utensils on the table and did not even provide a fork for my mom and we had to wait for him to come back so we could ask him. It was very hot inside and uncomfortable. We waited over an hour for our food and the taste wasn’t great. The waiter didn’t understand English properly so it was difficult communicating with him. The waiter went around to the other tables to check on them but did not check on us. The establishment has a preference for certain customers. They are greedy for money, have very poor service, and cheap quality. My brother ended up with diarrhea about an hour after eating. The owner should hire and train staff properly. When the owner is not counting receipts, he is hanging out with his friends drinking and chatting instead of paying attention to his customers. I have blacklist Flavor of India from my list. There are much better Indian restaurants if you go out into Long Island. Plus this place is pricey for crappy food and takes 12% service charge while providing horrible or no service. I would NOT recommend this place.

Do not let the looks deceive you. Worst food ever!!! The chicken tikka masala had way TOO much gravy and the actual chicken was soft and mushy. The palak paneer was ok. Not much about it but the bhindi was good. The daal tadka was the best thing there. The mixed vegetable was really disgusting and tasteless. It tasted as if they used frozen veggies. Just please, don’t make the same mistake my family and I made and go some place else.

I say with confidence that Flavor Of India is among the best Indian restaurants in New York(and I’ve been to many). The food is fresh and flavorful and they make the best butter chicken I have ever had. The prices are also extremely reasonable. I would avoid the lunch buffet and just order from the menu. The selections for the buffet is sadly limited and they offer far better on their menu(like the butter chicken or chicken korma).

This place has okay prices but their food is horrendous. There was another family there who was really upset about the food and the rice seemed old. This has to be the worst indian food I’ve tried. I recommend Sohna Punjab. Has better food and amazing new renovation.

I have to say that I’m pretty impressed with this restaurant! Their chicken makhni is amaaaaaaazing as well as their naans! It’s so nice and cozy inside. The staff is super sweet and friendly. I think it’s a family owned business which makes it even better because everyone in there is working so hard and they care so much about their customers. I have brought all of my friends from different ethnicities here and they absolutely love it. Most of them end up coming back for more with their significant other.

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants on hillside but on the last few occasions my take out order has been a mess. I used get the sahi planner with the garlic naan and the rice. It seems like the take out food doesn’t taste the same as the dine in. I don’t know lately their food has been out of whack I’m guessing either a new management or a new chef. They have that chaat place next to the son restaurant, which is pretty kool

There’s a lot of other restaurants in the area that beat this one when it comes to anything. If you want to have really good tasting indian food, do not go here.

Lunch was just six sad chafing dishes, of the most tired Indian standards: saag, tandoori chicken, daal, yadda yadda yadda… The naan was cold and lifeless and stacked 20 high. Not surprisingly there wasn’t an Indian customer in sight… just me and a pair of retired Italian dudes, probably having their weekly lunch together. It felt surreal, yet it somehow made complete sense.

Poorly done food dishes and service. Ordered chicken briyani and I got rice with chicken pieces. It was appalling.

Delicious garlic naan, butter chicken, and daal mak. Good prices & the food always taste the same. Staff has been nice, not necessarily friendly but nice. Interior/exterior simple and sweet. Usually slow on weekdays.
