Best french toast I have ever had!!! That being said it is a smaller restaurant and not alot of table space for larger groups. Service has been excellent every time.

Unbelievably good! Best salsa I’ve ever had(complimentary chips and salsa) and both the chile relleno and huevos rancheros were AMAZING! I was truly impressed with what they had to offer from this hole-in-the-wall type of place. Service was excellent and food is worth stopping for. My husband and I are touring the US playing music and it’s nice to find a historic, affordable and delicious place to eat :-) For more on our travels, visit

Been here before, was very satisfied with the food and service, Tasha our waitress came and checked on us a few times. More than some other restaurants in this town! I like the railroad theme it ties in with the trains that pass by less than 100 yds away. Food was great as I expected, sorta home cooking taste. 2 thumbs up. They kept our water and coffee full. That I like.

Best diner in Gallup. Great service, reasonable prices, friendly staff. Breakfast is excellent, especially Dad’s omelet with bacon and green chile, and the French toast.

Excellent food! It was Sunday and the place was busy, busy! I had a burger and I loved it. Service was excellent and the food came quickly. My husband had a breakfast burrito which he liked too. Will be back again when we pass through.

French toast is amazing! Also had the huevos rancheros and a smothered green chili omelette. The green chili sauce is spicy and very flavorful. Very quick and friendly service. Would stop in again next time we are in the area!

This is a great example of a local diner with excellent food. Don’t let the overgrown shrubs and dilapidated exterior fool you. This is not fine dining but we enjoyed the menu of traditional American dishes and Mexican. The salsa was probably the best I’ve ever had. Even the side items of the rice and beans were different and very tasty. Interior was dated, but clean.

Stopped here after our Enchanted Forest ride. Burger is a good value, but the processed cheese is not a great add. Buffalo wings come breaded and fried with two dipping sauces. The dinner salad was a bunch of iceberg lettuce, some dried up carrots and gelatinous Italian dressing. The fries are frozen and green chile is subpar. The meat omelette and home fries were nothing to write home about, but a great value and edible. We can check this place off the list.

Excellent burgers! Very flavorful and you can choose from ¼, ½ or one pound patties with choice of cheese. The fixings are on the side, so you can add to your liking. The fries were crispy and quite tasty. The kids selection is good and they are more than generous with the portions. I was concerned when I saw the drinks offered only one refill(after a long drive), but they are huge and you only need a refill, if that. Staff is friendly and courteous. A nice stop if you’re passing through and easy to access off the freeway. We stopped for lunch on the way and coming back from our destination. Great place for a great bite to eat.

We all ordered Mexican food. And we got lots of it. To me, the high point was the salsa. Made here and so fresh & flavorful. The burrito filled my daughter’s plate!

A perfect example of «don’t judge a book by it’s cover» restaurant. Good food. Good people. And always kept my water glass full. I had the B&O sandwich which is fried chicken breast sandwich with your choice of cheese and guacamole. To my surprise the bun was toasted in a Texas style which I love. I also had the onion rings which were beer battered style and taters. The potato salad my wife had was also good. I would go there again if I ever find my self driving through New Mexico.

Taco came with ground beef and cheese but no lettuce or tomato and tasted less than average. However, the chile relleno was one of the best we have ever had(and we eat them a lot)! The tamale was great as well but the shining star was the relleno. The prices were reasonable, service was good and restaurant was clean. I will eat here again.

This place is a little tired and run down looking, but the food was very good. I had the huevos rancheros with the green sauce and loved it. Great little Route 66 diner to visit if you’re traveling the«Mother Road»!

I don’t understand the 5 star ratings! The food is edible, especially if you like mashed potatoes from a box, and green beans from a can!

The Railway Café is a small, family owned restaurant that sits on the old Route 66 in Gallup. It’s has an extensive menu and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The selections are traditional American fare with burgers(1 lb, ½ lb, and ½ lb), burritos and practically anything you want. I had the sirloin steak($ 12.99) with baked potato, green beans, side salad and Texas toast. I added 4 jumbo shrimp for $ 2 more. The potions were large enough to where I couldn’t finish. The only complaint is the meat was dry and a little over-cooked, but that is not a huge crime. I ordered cheese sticks($ 6) which came with ranch. They do not have marinara sauce, which was disappointing. The restaurant seems to be popular with Native Americans in the area(you are in Navajo country). Twice people came by our table offering to sell Indian jewelry. Some might find that charming, others off-putting. All in all, a pleasant dining experience along America’s old highway.
