This is my absolute favorite place in Fullerton. Everything is always fresh and the service is quick. I absolutely love the Summer Salad and the Curry Chicken Salad or Wrap. It is a great place for a casual lunch or dinner with friends, and the atmosphere is very calm and welcoming. I always recommend Ruta’s to anyone visiting Fullerton for the first time. I have never met a person who does NOT love Ruta’s.

What a horrible experience!!! My daughter and I ordered the veggie and chicken enchilada. I took 4 bites and my daughter took 3 – 4 bites and we were discussed. There was so much oil, it was dripping on the table. We got the artichoke dip as well and that was decent but I didn’t see the oil from where I was standing. I asked for the manager but no one came. From the beginning I regretted getting the enchilada but I was hopeful that it was good. I could tell that the cheese was melted in the microwave and it became hard very fast once I started to eat it. It ruined my day because I felt gross the entire day. Never again will I eat here. I guess I should have ordered the salad. You probably can’t go wrong with a salad.

Had the garlic chicken wrap. In the wrap it includes garlic chicken, cucumber, tomatoes, lettuce and feta cheese. Served with balsamic vinegar. Very good! Definitely refreshing and filling. Friend friend ordered the Cockie Leeky soup which was good too it is a non dairy soup which was nice. I’d def. Come back and explore the menu.

I had lunch here for the first time last summer. I was impressed by the selection of salads that were offered. I forgot exactly what I ordered, but I do remember it being delicious. It’s a very large portion of salad. Definitely not boring lettuce at all. It was quite fulfilling. For dessert, I ordered a yummy brownie that was freshly baked, but I took that to-go because the salad had already filled me up. I’ll most likely come back here when I’m in the area.

I love everything here! Healthy and delicious food, perfect for vegetarians. I love their homemade vegetable soup, chips and hummus of the day, gigantic salads, and the avocado sandwich. for you meat lovers, the Heap is and amazing hot open face sandwich of deliciousness!

Came here again for lunch(but this time, dined in) and loved the casual atmosphere and yummy salad. I opted for the Garlic Chicken Salad, and the small size was generously portioned! It came in a huge blue bowl with lettuce on the very bottom and garlic chicken, cucumbers, tomatoes, avocado, crunchy noodles, and caramelized walnuts layered on top. Balsamic vinaigrette is paired by default on the side. Ingredients were fresh, and the subtle sweetness from the caramelized walnuts bits was very enjoyable. I can do without the balsamic vinaigrette since I found it a bit oily. I believe you can choose any of their house made dressings which I will for sure do next time. The menu has a lot of options from soups, salads, wraps, to sandwiches. They also have a special menu which had some really appealing items too.

Our go-to healthy place. Of course, they have dangerous things like snicker doodles, chocolate chip cookies, and brownies, plus beer and wine, but we try to be healthy when we visit! :P Found the place via Unilocal(thank you, fellow Unilocal-ers!). It’s in downtown Fullerton but not on the main road; near the corner with a few churches, actually. When you walk in, there are several rooms you can choose from to seat yourself. The server will come by and get your drink order, as you figure out through the various pages of the menu on what you want. Their menu is pretty extensive! Bagels, salads, sandwiches, wraps, entrees, kid’s menu, appetizers, desserts, coffee drinks, beer and wine, etc. They also have monthly specials with certain foods that they are experimenting with. This month was the black bean hummus dip for 47(46?) cents, which was good(of course!). Be aware that the salads are huge! And, of you want a coffee drink, the jamocha is perfect. Tuna is fresh(as well as any other ingredients), and most of their stuff is homemade in some way. Once you enjoy your order, the server will provide the check, and you’d pay it at the front. The restaurant has always been clean, the food excellent, the prices aren’t too high, the service on-point, and snicker doodle cookies will definitely keep hubby coming back. I will enjoy eating his share when he isn’t looking :)

Fantastic place! The food is DELICIOUS! Think of healthy mixed with Latin and old fashion Dinner dishes. The place itself is quite amazing, with a Historical building, well decorated. The service is good, and the food, again, DELICIOUS! We first started with the Artichoke Dip, very flavorful and clean, tasting artichokes with every scoop of the tortilla chip! We then had the Garlic Chicken Pasta and the Seafood Enchiladas: WOW! The plates are not huge, but big enough(we had to take to-go boxes since we got full with the Artichoke Dip.) I had the Pasta dish and everything was excellent: the pasta, chicken amount and the Garlic Bread. My Brother had the Enchiladas and they were AMAZING! The food was served quickly and very hot(careful!) I’ve comeback here because it has fantastic food, great prices and its two blocks from my new job. I HIGHLY recommend it! Enjoy…

Fun place to eat for those that are conscious of eating healthy. Despite the vegetarian flair though they do serve chicken and other meat. The difference is you will have more and unique choices on the menu then many other restaurants. Not many restaurants have kale on the menu, tofu, chicken, Turkey, chili with or without meat or beens. Sauces and salad dressings are made fresh; no store bought junk here.

My friend and I came here on a Tuesday night and both ended up ordering salads. I ordered the Summer Salad and my friend ordered the BBQ Chicken Fiesta Salad. The prices were a little steep but the portions was huge. Everything tasted really fresh and the server was really attentive as well! Will definitely come back next time to try their monthly hummus specials!

This place is the best!!! I haven’t tried anything here I didn’t like! I recommend the«Chicken that Kissed the Walnut» Sandwich! It is such a yummy sandwich! It is basically a chicken salad sandwich with nuts. The squaw bread compliments it so well. If you are looking to get less carbs, try the Southwest Quinoa Bowl. It is so good. Quinoa is a carb«technically» but its good for you. It has black beans, salsa, avocado, corn and cheese! Yum! Those are my two go-to meals when I eat there, but you won’t be disappointed with anything. Also, the dessert that I love there is there coconut chocolate bar! Try it, and I promise you won’t be dissappointed!

My friend and I decided to go get something to eat after usual morning walk and came to Fullerton because I wanted her to try this other little place. That place was crazy packed and we were too hungry to wait, so looked for places near by. I had this place booked marked for a bit and it was in walking distance so it was perfect. Ok not gunna lie I didn’t really understand the decorating or the theme of this place but after I had the food it didn’t even matter. No joke I had a trough of salad here, and not some weak crappy ass salad but like super bomb salad(or as bomb as salads can be) I got the summer salad,(Turkey, mixed greens, caramelized walnuts, carrots, mandarin oranges, Craisins, blue cheese, with balsamic vinaigrette.) And my friend had a huge sandwich. FORSURECOMINGBACKHERE

We really wanted to like this place, we really did. It’s historic and charming, they have a large menu with a variety to choose from, and within walking distance. We keep giving them another shot, maybe we ordered the wrong thing, we thought each time. Well, we can’t force it, we just don’t like their food. Everything is so bland. Over time we have tried the tacos, the chili, tuna sandwich, ham and swiss sandwich, tortilla soup, salads… Everything. Everything here is just so mediocre and bland. Like so plain that I could’ve gone to the grocery store and made it myself, and I don’t even cook. Also it’s pricey for what you get. Our most recent visit this week was $ 25 for my husband and I who both got the ½ sandwich combo. If you’re gonna get a ½ sandwich, you’re better off going to Roscoes and splitting one of their delicious and ginormous sandwiches plus side, which they will give you each a side if you’re sharing. That would be like $ 15 for a more filling and much more enjoyable meal.

My boss was so nice and brought back something from here to the office for me and BOYAM I GLADSHEDID!!! This is only for carry out food Looking at the menu, I see this has hands down the best vegetarian(and easily made vegan) options in DownTown Fullerton. I will only be going here from now on. NO more wandering around DTF trying to get crappy and unhealthy substitutions! YAY!!! :))

Hey guys, I have to downgrade my rating for a few reasons. Service was alright but just alright, no more than that. Another thing, it takes nerve to serve some sliced avocado, sunflower seeds, tomato on two slices of squaw bread and charge close to $ 10 for it. Lastly: What the HELL have you done to my beloved«Cockie Leekie» soup? Bastards! During my college days and years after, every time I went to Ruta’s I’d ALWAYS get a cup or bowl of Cockie Leekie soup as part of the meal. Chicken broth base with chicken meat, lots of leeks, onion, and it was awesome! Not anymore. What they call«Cockie Leekie» on the menu is like a thick, gooey white cream of chicken and mushroom soup. Again I say, «What the hell !?» We had suggested this place to meet with family for a double birthday lunch because my niece who is vegetarian has been wanting to try it after my big build-up of how great it is. Or should I say, was. She did seem to like her veggie burger but my heart sank at when I had the soup I would crave, now reduced to something from a Campbell’s can with nothing resembling the taste I would drive miles for. For me, this was the last time I eat here. Unless they can bring back the good old recipes.

This place is great, and I most definitely will have to be back because their menu is huge and I wanted to try everything on it! They have like 20 different kinds of salads, and they all have so many ingredients. They have a bunch of sandwiches and random items as well from tacos to pasta to cookies and ice cream. I don’t know if they always have a random ridiculously deal, but they had $ 1 pumpkin beer– and it was really good! And they had 46c hummus and chips, which was not great, but a steal for 46 cents. I ended up getting a salad which came in a ridiculously large bowl, that I am currently enjoying the leftovers for dinner as well. It had so many delicious ingredients in it that I didn’t even have to use the dressing, though I did try it and it was pretty good. My boyfriend got a sandwich that looked pretty large as well. Next time we’ll have to try and save room for dessert.

This place certainly has character. Interesting menu. Lots of creative dishes! I always have a hard time deciding on what to get. Unfortunately, I have yet to order anything that has blown me away. Their monthly specials are pretty cool though. I liked their 42cent dip of the month! The service is mediocre. They do an OK job at spotting customers when they first sit down, but our server came to our table maybe 3 times all night: once to order, once to bring our food, and once to bring our check.

Rutabegorz has a huge selection for a reasonable price. I have never seen a menu so large, it was mind-blowing. My group ordered the hummus/veggies as an appetizer and we were comfortably able to share one order. My friend ordered the Cobb Salad(pictured) and she did not even put a dent in it after the end of the meal… it was ginormous. I ordered the vegetarian quinoa bowl and it was also satisfying. The salsa hit the spot. I would recommend this place for any group of people who are in the mood for a satisfying meal. It is not a fancy place, by no means, so not ideal for a «romantic» or «intimate» dinner. Just really if you want to get the job done and satisfy your belly.

Rutabergorz of Fullerton provides a high value dining experience for anyone who walks through its small doors — and I do mean anyone. From the guest who is strictly vegetarian to the guest who loves a meal lathered with cheese and chicken, Rutabergorz provides something for everyone with while maintaining its reputation for high quality at well sized portions. Located within a 100+ year old building(take time to read about the place!), the many small rooms, vintage furnishings and intimate confines that make up Rutabergorz will make anyone feel instantly at home. With its folded newspaper styled menus, Rutabergorz also makes it easy to guests to feel ushered into an earlier era — so much that I had to rely on the Unilocal app to get a better sense of that the menu items looked like. There are sandwiches, soups, wraps, salads, burritos and pastas of all kinds and any of these items can set you back 5 to 13 bucks. For 12 bucks, I went all out and had the Garlic Chicken Pasta, which surprised me with not only with its gooey richness,(feta cheese, pine nuts and white sauce) and but fairly large portion — the leftovers made for a good lunch the day after. I like how a tomato slice served as a garnish to the Garlic Chicken Pasta(as if made me feel slightly better about eating it), but I also found myself loving the crusty garlic bread that was included. I also found myself hungrily eyeing the veggie bagel my mom ordered but that would’ve seemed mean if I had quickly grabbed it to eat. While I wish service would’ve been quicker, Rutabergorz is definitely a place that I would love to come back to again and try many of its other delicious sounding menu items. Two hour street parking is close by and there are plenty of places to walk around if you do need to walk off what you just ate. This is a location that, while hidden away from sight if you’re traveling through busier streets like Harbor Blvd. or Commonwealth, adds a lot of character to Old Town Fullerton. Highly recommended!
