An exploration of military history right on Main Street in Fredericksburg, the birthplace of Commander in Chief of United States Pacific Naval Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz. The society recently erected the statue of Admiral Nimitz, which is quite impressive. Nimitz played a major historical part in Naval history during World War II, specifically the Pacific War. Two years after the bombing in Pearl Harbor the Pacific War led to the defeat of the Japanese at Guadalcanal in 1943. This is a nice park to stroll through. Lots of history and memoriam dedicated to all of the fallen soldiers and other who contributed during the Pacific War. Also, nobody complained that we walked our dog through the park with us(no potty though please). See the adjacent Pacific War Museum and their website for more information:
