The previous reviews are correct-service lacked big time. We were given chips and salsa after 5 mins or so, then the guy took our drink order 5 – 10 minutes after that. Received our drinks and waiter asked if we were ready to order. Uh, we hadn’t been given menus. Chips seemed like they were recycled; stake, but refrained in an attempt to reuse. «Cheese sauce”/queso wasn’t bad. My «bowl» of chicken tortilla soup was really good, but it was a small bowl considering is was $ 8.00. Soda refills took forever. We won’t be returning.

The worst service I have ever experienced. Rude, dismissive, slow when there were more staff than customers in the place. Awful.

Hands down the worst Mexican food I have ever had. Absolutely bland all around. From guacamole to flavor of an enchilada. We started with nachos which literally were tortilla chips, cheese on a couple chips tomatoes and sour cream. Had to ask 3 times for a side of guac, that sucked and was $ 5.25. I make better nachos at my house for $ 9.99. I got the #4 and I only took two bites and was just over it. At that point I figured I’d save my appetite for ice cream at a local shop, wasn’t worth trying a different dish to be just as disappointed. I don’t usually listen to reviews because it’s all subjective, but I wish I listened to the bad reviews about this place. Biggest waste of $ 73 dollars of my life. A pitcher of margarita for $ 28 tasted like just sour mix. No buzz what so ever off splitting the pitcher with one other person, not that I was looking for it, but usually feel something. So disappointed over a meal we were so excited for

We stopped here over Labor Day weekend. Estes Park was crawling with tourists. Chelito’s is a rooftop restaurant with patio dining. The chicken enchiladas were incredible. My wife had the tamales in green chile and both were some of the best she’s ever had. Highly recommended.

I really wasn’t expecting a lot out of the food from a Mexican place in the mountains of Colorado. I’m from SoCal, I know Mexican food. What’s universal, or at least should e, is good service. This place was severely lacking. Upon arriving we asked for seating outside, they have rooftop seating and the view is incredible. The kid who’s the host said there weren’t any available tables when we clearly saw that there was one that needed to be bused but was definitely available. We told him we’d wait for that table to be cleaned. Instead they sat us at another table with most of our party facing the restaurant and away from the beautiful view. When I ordered my street tacos(I wanted the five taco platter where you get to choose the meat) and the waiter informed me that you can only choose one meat for all tacos… Then when he brought out the food, he messed up my order by bringing the three taco platter… This wouldn’t normally be a problem but I was sharing with someone else. He asked if we wanted it corrected but it took him so long to get the food out or do anything that we told him no. The service was incredibly slow. The whole experience was disappointing. While walking around we saw another rooftop restaurant cal La Hacienda. My suggestion is to try that place.

We stopped in for some cocktails on the spectacular patio of this restaurant. Our waiter was very attentive. We got there in time for happy hour margiritas. Great margiritas. Chips and salsa and Queso dip… very good. The chips were very fresh and slightly warm. I like when they are warm. Salsa was good, could have been spicer. After such great service from our waiter and the fabulous margiritas we decided to try the food… well here is why I say only 3 stars. 1)Sour cream was more like a sour cream sauce, very runny. And $ 2.00 extra! 2) I ordered the Carne Asada and the meat was terrible. Over cooked and no flavor. 3)My fiancé had the steak and chicken fajitas. Once again the steak was tough and over cooked with no flavor. 3)Rice was just lukewarm and kinda dry, again no flavor. Such a shame the food is not very good. The restaurant is beautiful and the outside patio looks out over the downtown area and incredible views of the mountains. You would expect more from the look of this restaurant but it just dosnt deliver. I would not have dinner or lunch here again, but would come back for the margiritas and the views!

The seating on the deck was definitely a plus, but from where we were sitting we could see the hostess table and the bar. We waited probably 10 minutes at our table before we got any service(we could see the waitors and waitresses talking and hanging out at the bar.) when we did order our drinks we asked for a frozen margarita and got it on the rocks. The food was pretty good, but one of my party ordered a chicken deluxe burrito and got ground beef(not a big deal but just another item on the list.) Once we got our food the waitor never came back to check if we were alright and if we needed more drinks(which we did).

My experience was precisely the opposite of what some have said here. We came into town very late and had a birthday to celebrate. They let us in ten minutes after they had already closed. Fabian, our server, was as nice as could be. The food was delicious and everything was very pleasant. The birthday celebration was saved. The fried ice cream was the best I’ve ever had.

If I could rate 0 stars I would. The service was terrible and so was the food. Nothing good about this place. Sent food back that I had only taken one bite out of the owner came to the table and asked if I wanted anything else. I politely said no. The bill came and the owner said«sorry but u have to pay at least half of the meal you sent back». I was so angry !!! Never ever ever ever eat here

Solid burrito, really big. Not unbelievable but also not bad. After a day of hiking I left feeling full. Not the healthiest meal but it’s a pretty good spot.

Chelito’s is nestled sweetly in a corner unit of the top floor of a beautiful old building. The majority of their seating is outside under white canopies with 180 degree views of the mountains. My praises basically end there. The waitstaff was dismissive and uninterested which lead to a dining experience that lasted almost an hour and a half even though there were less than 10 other patrons in the restaurant. My boyfriend’s beans were tasteless and watered down, his enchiladas were burnt on the bottom yet cold in the middle. My fajita salad consisted of old, wilted shredded lettuce, chicken, onions, peppers and a dollop of sour cream. While the food itself was under whelming, I will give them kudos because my chicken was tender and the veggies were nice and crisp. I won’t go back here and I would suggest that you go to either of the other Mexican restaurants in Estes Park as an alternative.

Really surprisingly good, especially the Molcajete, a stew served in piping hot stone bowl with spiced steak, chicken and carnitas. Also nicely prepared guacamole table side. And lovely views of the Rockies.

I can’t find anything good to say about this place except the patio view is nice. Queso had to have been microwaved as the cheese was caked to the side of the bowl and clumpy. Cheese enchiladas were really bad as well. Again they tasted and looked microwaved.

Very good authentic mexican food. We will definitely come back. Service was prompt and friendly. Great location in downtown Estes Park. Family owned too.

I was a little concerned when we came here considering all of the bad reviews. We were hungry and on our way to spend the day in Estes, so we stopped here. It isn’t the most up-to-date places as far as atmosphere goes, but the food and service was fine. We were seated right away, never had to ask for anything, the prices were decent, and the tacos were great. I inhaled all of them! I didn’t have any drinks, so I can’t vouch for their margaritas. I’ve had experiences that were far worse than this one!

Service here was terrible. Very slow and not customer service oriented. Food is expensive for what you get. We ordered and when the food finally arrived 1 entrée was wrong and 1 was simply disgusting. They were sent back. The wrong entrée came back a second time and was FROZEN… so much for handmade and authentic. It was sent back again, and did finally arrive correct and hot… but no offer to comp it. The not so yummy one was taken back but they refused to remove the charges for it even though a replacement entrée was ordered. After asking for a manager the waitress came back with the bill and a minor adjustment of 15% off. No refills on soda or drinks were ever offered and after over 2 hours, mostly waiting, we finally left. We will never eat here sgain.

Come on people, this place is better than 2 stars! Cool patio, good service, and meal was solid. The abuelita hot chocolate was amazing!

Service is terrible, the selection of food is nil especially for a Mexican restaurant. About the only good thing about this restaurant is the location and rooftop seating. I ordered a Coke and was told they were out only to see a customer at a table a few feet away from our’s receive one with their meal. We had a fairly large group too and got enough chips for 1. The staff are not very attentive or pleasant either. I can’t even tell you what I had to eat as it was that good… will we be back? Definitely not.

This place doesn’t deserve any stars. This is the WORST restaurant I have been to in my entire life. The staff, manager, and owner included are incredibly rude and cheap, as well as talk down to their customers. I should have known after waiting 30 minutes for my margaritas and other drinks to just walk out, this place was not even crowded had nobody there. The drinks were watered down, used crappy tequila, and over powered it with margarita mixer high in sugar. The food came out an hour and half after we sat down and ordered our food. When it arrived my boyfriends burrito was cold and had a dead fly on it! My friend and I ordered the ceviche and it was awful, I ended up getting food poisoning the next day from it. At the end of this ordeal after the check had already been paid and we were finishing our drinks our served who was carrying too many drinks ended up spilling 2 entire pitchers of beer all over my boyfriend. Mind you not it was chilly this day we were visiting and my boyfriend was wearing shorts. We never got an apology from the server, manager, or owner. They also never offered my boyfriend a towel or cleaned up the ice, which could have been a safety hazard. I am so disgusted with this lack of service and cleanliness something must be done. I am calling the Health Department to have them come check out the restaurant, this is not a grade A or even B place. We ended up fighting with the owner for over an hour about how rude everyone was and not even an apology, let alone at this point the server also refused to credit us back any refunds of our meal, all he could offer was $ 6 for one beer that was ordered at our table. $ 6, are you kidding me? What a nightmare, I honestly am so ashamed of the owner and he should really evaluate his life and the way he treats others, his employees were awful. Let alone they have a 12 year old boy there working which goes against child labor laws, this place needs to be shut down. Don’t eat here or YOUWILLGETSICK! This is a very toxic place, and I only left Estes Park angry and will never go back.

Yes, the service is poor. The place could use a makeover. But their Carne Asada tacos are worth it if your looking for the best street tacos is Estes. The salsa is good and the patio makes it a great place to relax.
