I always thought this store was a bit posh and everything was super expensive and I kept that idea for the longest time until I had the opportunity to try their products at an American Express Centurion lounge. The lounge had the lemon verbena soap available and I was hell bent on finding a L’Occitane store to get the shampoo and body wash to add to my daily régime. That stuff also smelled wonderful. Queue up a few months later when I had time to finally stop by Bay Street since I heard they had a boutique there and wanted to stop by since I ran out of the sample bottles from the lounge. As I walked in I was greeted by a wonderful fragrance, and James greeted me well and helped me find the products I was looking for, along with letting me know that if I bought x amount, I would get x gift. He was super helpful and I was able to leave the store with the items I needed, mainly the lemon verbena shampoo, hand wash and body soap with shea butter. Well turns out people run out of this stuff and I went back to purchase more. James was again wonderful and even remembered my preferences of lemon verbena and was quickly on my way. The lemon verbena stuff rocks, the shampoo makes my hair soft and the bar soap with Shea butter makes the skin so smooth and soft. I’ll be back for more, as I think I found my products for the long run. Hope this store stays!

I visited them today and they were so great! Not only they offered me a mini facial or hand massage, but they explained everything about the products… The store manager, James, was very welcoming and friendly. I’ve been always a big fan of their products but after today’s visit, I’m even more inclined to stick with them.

Some of the worst service we’ve ever received. Store manager, Eli, and his coworker were both in the back giggling and behaving unprofessionally when we walked in. What should have been a pleasurable shopping experience ended with us walking out feeling like they were just there to collect a paycheck. Customer service was the last thing on their minds. Why do people like this have jobs?

L’OCCITANE has always been known for its amazing products lines and customer service. So I was excited when a boutique was opened at Bay Street Emeryville, just around the corner from home. Recently, I was visiting my sister on the Peninsula so we stopped by the Hillsdale boutique. Surprisingly, I had the worst customer service experience. I walked out of the store upset by a particular associate’s rudeness and couldn’t shake off the experience. I called Bay Street Emeryville and spoke to Eli. He apologized for my experience and asked me to stop by his store so that he could make it right. Even though the store was about to close, he took the time to address the issue at hand, answer my questions, and complete my transaction. It was absolutely one of the best customer experiences I’ve had and moving forward, I will be completing my purchases only at the Emeryville Boutique. If you’re at Bay Street, stop by and meet Eli. He’ll brighten your day with his awesome personality and amazing customer service.
