Loved this Salon. Very friendly and helpful staff. The salon it self is beautiful. Andreyna was awesome. She really listened to my hair concerns and made the experience fun. My hair was in bad shape but looks and feels great now. I’m definitely going back!

I had Lexi, who did an awesome job touching up my hair color. I dug the salon’s vibe, everyone seemed really friendly and someone even had their dog there. The one downside is it felt like there was a lot of upselling when I went to the cash register to pay. This happens at every salon, so it’s nothing new or necessarily bad, it’s just kind of annoying to me. However, I liked my overall experience and would for sure come back.

I have never had a better experience at a salon. This was my second time here and both times were lovely experiences. I’ve always caught Guy at the front desk phone when scheduling my appointment, and he’s always so nice and welcoming (even though I’m a chronic last minute scheduler).
I went to Andreyna last week just for a trim, nothing dramatic. But she killed it. Somehow I walked out with hair 100 times better than when I walked in. She recommended trimming up some long layers to lighten up the weight of my hair. Girl has skills. She has made a regular customer out of me.

Booking was too much of a trouble. You could have been clearer about what ‘existing client’ means on the online booking system, rather than calling me later and tell me that I cannot come in for a haircut because I am not qualified as an existing client (although I have had a haircut at this salon before).
I get it, it is your policy to have new clients spending one hour with the stylist. But it is really not right to just cancel the appointment on behalf of your customers, because you don’t have enough time. (Really?! 45mins versus one hour? You don’t have that extra 15mins to spare? What is this? Some strict operations management rules?) Your stylist is not a machine in the factory, and they should be able to manage time better. Now I have to wait for more than a week to have my hair cut.
Anyways, if you want to play the strict time rule, go update the online booking system and add in that extra line explaining your services options. Otherwise, it’s a waste of time for everyone!!!

I kindly heard back from the stylist and manager, and they explained that it took a while to get back to me for personal reasons. I’m planning on scheduling a complementary appointment, and will update again afterwards!

I would not recommend this salon to anyone. Take your time and money elsewhere!
I saw Leticia to get a balayage service a few weeks ago. At the end of the service, my hair looked EXACTLY THE SAME. She tried to explain to me that after a few washes and in «better lighting» it’ll look better because the «salon’s lighting is weird». (Isn’t a good hair salon supposed to have adequate lighting?)
I called back to let the salon know I was not happy with the service and was told if I had called within two weeks (I called a couple days «too late») they would be able to do something about it. I was NOT told this as I was leaving very dissatisfied. If I had been, I would have definitely called instead of giving it time and washes like Leticia had said.
I was told to email Tony, the salon manager, to see if there was something that could be done. I did that over a week ago, followed up, and still have yet to receive a response.
I’m still waiting to receive the service that I paid and gave my time for. I am not asking for a refund, but they still are not interested in appeasing a disappointed client. This is easily the worst, most disappointing customer service I’ve ever received.
I was hoping to make this salon my go-​to place for all my hair needs, but unfortunately I would NOT trust them with hair. I’ve already told friends to avoid this place and will continue doing so until I get a response to my issue that makes me think otherwise.

I read the reviews on Unilocal and really seemed impressed by the amount of people that had great experiences from this place. I should have known…
#1. They are in Bay Street so the parking is a nightmare, especially if you are heading over after work.
#2. The cost is a bit ridiculous for the service and the cut you get. Maybe it’s the area, but I am sure someone else could produce something a bit more affordable.
#3. The stylist I went to was not «short hair» material. I have had the same wonderful stylist in another town for years… Figured I’d venture out and clearly that was wrong. I was left with bangs that were clearly TOO short, edges of the hair line that were so uneven that I actually had to cut it on my own!
If you have a technically savvy cut or just want a short cut where you DONT look like Peter Pan… Stay away.

Andreyna is the best! I looked for two years to find a hairstylist that fits for my needs and desires. She’s patient and throughly listens to my requests. She gives me advice and still stays within what I would like to see. Free tea, clean spa with extremely friendly staff, free hair treatment with Unilocal check in that includes hand massage… What more can you ask for! All under $ 50. So so so thankful I finally found my hair home.

I was literally waiting, counting down the days, posted it on my google calendar, to purchase another 3-​series Groupon with Krystal.
Tonight’s visit did not disappoint. I fell asleep HARD. She’s so good. I’m so excited to have found someone make me feel so exquisite at such a (guilty) low price. I can’t wait to be done with school and be able to afford her on a more frequent basis!
I’ve visited so many estheticians who made me feel like a «great clips» experience, if you know what I mean, they try too hard and aren’t refined in their skill or touch… NOT with Krystal.
She makes me feel like room temperature butter.

I never knew this salon existed on Bay st! Located on the opposite side of the Movie Theatres, right across from GAP, I was highly impressed with this Aveda Salon! Clean, trendy yet inviting and spacious!
Andreyna slayyyyyyyyed my hair today! I was in dire need to tame this mane and she exceeded my expectations! I came in with several pics on my phone of long layered looks with bangs and she talked me through the game plan with ease. I very much appreciated the complimentary scalp and neck massage before we began! I also took advantage of the Unilocal check in offer for the Botanical Therapy, you must too! It’s freeeeeeeee, the magic word! Andreyna listened to everything I had to say (which is always way too much lol) but we really clicked and we vibed off each other so she really knew what to do with my do! In the end, I was ecstatic! She can frame the hell out of a face! Can’t wait to go back to her! Thanks Andreyna for laughing at all of my jokes! HA!

This salon is fantastic. I specifically chose them because they were an Aveda salon. The salon has every product you might need, they offer all services I need, and it is in a great location (in an outdoor mall, close to ⁸⁰⁄₅₈₀ with plenty of parking… even though you have to pay for parking — it’s not very much).
Jen is fantastic. I have long, straight hair and she makes me look beautiful every time. I love talking to her and she is an excellent stylist. I never feel the need to look closely at the cut before I leave because I know it will be perfect. She also recommends products that work perfectly for what I want.
I have never had a problem with any appointments or anything else the salon provides. I schedule online. I’ve been going to Sole for 3 years!

This is the best salon I have ever been to! I moved to the East Bay and needed a new Aveda salon. I selected Sole based on the excellent Unilocal reviews and perfect location in Emeryville. When I first called to make an appointment, Leticia was recommended to me. She has been my stylist now for over a year now, and I am always amazed by her creativity and vision! I have short hair and love to change the color. My old stylists used to do boring cuts with tame colors. Leticia has opened up my world to bright and vibrant colors from platinum to pastels to dark purples and blues. She also takes her time to give me a fun and fresh haircut every time I see her. Leticia is the best stylist I have ever had, and I absolutely love what she brings to my hair every time I see her!
Also, if you are looking for friendly and knowledgeable staff, everyone here is awesome! I love coming in to buy product and chatting with the staff up front. The whole experience is perfect from start to finish!

I have been here twice so far for hair cuts and been satisfied both times. However, Leticia gave me one of the BEST haircuts I have ever gotten. She listened to what I wanted, provided feedback and styled me beautifully for my holiday party. Thanks so much! I will definitely be going back to her, she is amazing. They treat you well here.

I’ve been going to Supercuts just for trims for a while and decided that my hair needed a little more of an investment. $ 70 for a standard haircut. Not cheap but not the worst I’ve seen.
First, the process of booking an appointment was very quick and easy. They ask you a few questions over the phone, like what you would like to have done and the type of hair you have. I received a confirmation text before I was even off the phone. The place is in the middle of Bay Street, so parking is no problem (although you’ll probably have to pay $ 2 for it).
The salon is nice, and the staff is friendly. The vibe of the salon is higher end but not stuck-​up. I was offered tea and water when I arrived. My stylist was right on time and did EXACTLY what I asked, which is often a rare quality. Before the shampooing, she gave me a scalp massage. I asked for her recommendations concerning my hair, and she gave me good ones. My hair looks and feels great.
No one attempted to sell me any products, which I appreciate. It was very easy to book my next appointment, and the pricing was exactly what I had been told on the phone — no «well the HAIRCUT was $ 70 but the blow dry is an extra $ 50» or any nonsense like that. I very much enjoyed my experience here.

I came here because of the great reviews, but I’m sad that I can’t give it the same. I got my eyebrows waxed and a hair cut. I asked for more feminine brows and I ended up with a hole in my eyebrows… which didn’t make sense because they were pretty bushy and unkempt when I came in. Then I got my cut… and I got cut in the ear (which has never happened to me before). Then after that, I got a crappy cut. (You can see part of it in the pic). Both ladies were nice (hence the two stars), and I felt no reason to mention it to either of them since they can’t do anything to fix it, but Unilocal world should know… now you know.

I have been a customer at sole salon for two years and have referred many people. I always had a good experience until recently. I came in to do balayage, hair dresser messed up got a re-​do then messed up again. So it had been three time. If you are a salon you should make sure your hair stylists are trained enough to do hair or to not say yes before they commit.
My hair came out ORANGE with spots of PEACH! Hideous I wanted to cry. Didn’t make a big fuss because she said she would call me the next day talk to the manager see what they can do, I trusted her because we actually had a good relationship. She didn’t call me the next day and I had to call the salon the next morning. It was so ugly I couldn’t even go out in public I had to get it done that daybut she was booked and they made it seem like they were accommodating me by letting me go in two days later… if they messed up they need to take ownership and fix their mistakes asap andmake time for me like a good business should. I didn’t even speak to the manager once, super unprofessional.
All together what I learned from them is that they do not value loyal customers that is why they always have a Groupon they bring in new customers like crazy. And myself and my family will not be spending our time or money there. It upsets me they were that unappreciative and rude. And my hair was chemically processed and damaged AND THEY DONT CARE.
I went and got it fixed at the Paul Mitchell salon in Oakland and it looks beautiful now.

Sofia gives amazing haircuts. I’ve gotten three cuts from her so far, and each one has been great. I leave the salon looking fly, and my cut grows in wonderfully too.
Other perks include the complimentary tea, shampoo treatment, and witty conversation. High marks, would definitely recommend.

I think everyone knows how hard it is to find the perfect hairstylist to take care of our super special hair! When I first moved to NorCal, back in 2009, I started looking for my next hair bff and I found her, Jenn! :D
She has been taking care of my hair for 6 years now (daaayumm!!), and she has always kept my hairstyle unique to who I am as a person! She’s the sweetest person ever, and she is incredibly talented hairstylist and colorist! I also know that the other stylist at Sole Salon are also very talented and are always the most welcoming to their customers. :]

Hands down the best salon in the East Bay!
I had a vision of what I wanted my hair to look like and Sophia really took the time to listen and create the perfect style for me. She is top notch and amazing. This is the best haircut I’ve ever gotten. Thank you, Sophia and thank you Sole! I will see you again next time!

Willow said it best, «I whip my hair back and forth, I whip my hair back and forth!!» After Leticia worked o my hair I was ready to stand in the middle of a crowded Bay Street mall and do just that. The feeling of a fabulous mane done just right gives you the right to strut and whip the crap out of everything and everyone.
Service is always impeccable and friendly. They always provide day ahead reminders. Price is moderate but for the amount of ego boost and attitude it makes it all worth it! Power stance, now bring it! I whip my hair back and forth, I whip my hair back and forth…
