This food is a disgusting mess, dry flavorless ground beef flautas drowned in watery salty tomatoe sauce, covered imitation cheddar cheese. I came from L.A. to El Paso/Juarez to visit my family and wanted to try«Gachos Tacos», I mean Chicos Tacos because I seen a video of Chef Aaron Sanchez describing this crappie food as delicious

Real, real, real bad. Just… Not good. I got the rolled tacos and they tasted horrible. Definitely wish we had gone to any one of the surrounding restaurants, or surrounding dumpsters. Why do people eat here? I’ll probably get the Hershey squirts later… Thank you Chico’s.

Would I go to Chico’s trying to impress my woman on our first date? Hell no! Would I take my girl there after a night of partying? Hell ya! Seriously, this is good, cheap, party food. I really liked the hot dog. The service was quick and the place was clean. Ya, I’d go back.

I can’t for the life of me figure out the obsession with this place!!! I only gave it two stars because sometimes it tastes mildly edible… at 2 am… when you’re piss drunk… and you don’t want pancakes… or dignity! Your stomach will hate you when you sober up, almost as much as you hate yourself for eating there. El Paso’s contribution to the culinary world! THANKS!

Delicious tacos(flautas) been going for like 15 yrs and it’s a must every time we are in El Paso. Not the cleanest place, old ass nasty restrooms, and management should educate their employees to be cleaner and better. ANDFORTHELOVEOFSATAN, STARTTAKINGCARDS, RARELYANYONEEVERUSESCASH. CHEAP-O’S Food is delicious tho and by food I mean the flautas covered in the delicious red sauce and delicious green salsa Yum.

Don’t see what all the raves are about. Worst greasiest food I ever ate. Never wished I go back in time and eat some place else in my life.

You either love it or hate it. No in between. I grew up in El Paso eating this as a kid and it is a must visit every time I come back to EP. It was better back in the 90s but it still hits the spot. Crunchy ground beef flautas in a red soupy salsa with tons of melted cheese. YYUUMMM! Super cheap as well. They also have good crinkly fries and some old school arcade games. Also cleaner than I had remembered which is a plus. Cash only!!!

You either love this place or you hate it. There is no in between. In the 90s, the flautas were to die for. Quality is not as good as it used to be. I still crave their flautas though.

I think you have to grow-up on this place. My El Paso family very much likes it. Living 30(something years) without experiencing it, it’s not a favorite of mine. But it was packed and stayed that way pretty much the entire time I was there. It is very inexpensive. Like $ 3 for a drink and 3 tacos. The hook is a bowl of 3 crunchy rolled tacos with a very mild salsa on covered with(soy) cheese. They also offer hamburgers and krinkle French Fries. Nothing was Bad but I can live 30 more years without going back.

Every time I’m in El Paso I eat at Chicos Tacos. I love these little soupy tacitos. They are so bad they’re good. I’m a foody with a pretty refined pallet. This is not gourmet obviously but it’s just good. Don’t try to figure it out just eat it and be happy. This location is large, open clean and fast. I’d recommend it.

Tacos… not. Sauce…not. The worst Mexican food I’ve had. I don’t even feel right calling it «Mexican food». And the crazy thing is everyone working there and every patron was Hispanic. I can get better frozen taquitos at Wal-Mart in Foley, Alabama. What’s with all the grated cheese. Trying to cover up the actual food. The sauce is red water… no flavor at all. One star is way too much.

This is what is wrong with the El Paso culinary seen! Since most people make minimum wage or are on government assistance the lower 75% doesn’t have an idea about good eats! Chicos tacos are neither authentic, nor are they tacos, they are not, good and they are Not cheap. All they are is beef flautas. Dipped in spoiled tomato pasty liquid, and topped with the cheapest, processed cheese available. El Paso have some dignity!!! While it maybe ok to go to Chicos and remember long lost memories. STOP!!! voting this place as the best tacos in town!!!

I like to title this one«DON’T DRINKTHEKOOL-AID» Every time that Chico’s Tacos has had the luxury of me entering their facility, I feel so inspired to do better with my own life. I can not, for the life of me… figure out… what it is that makes this place so popular?!? I have heard all of the practical reasons like the fact that it is cheap, or that it helps ward off a hangover, or that«Good tasting food just isn’t hip so hey guys, let’s do Chico’s», or «Well, its better than trash!» Yes, I’ve heard it all. If you are considering going to Chico’s and have never been because you have good reasoning skills, or you are not from El Paso, you can keep reading. If you have have been, then please disregard because you are just going to hate on me like the rest of the city does. It just plain out doesn’t smell pleasant when you walk in. I guess that adds to the charm? There is always a security guard, which… ok, whatever I guess. My experience with the staff has always been comparable to memories of playing with a Magic 8 ball. Sometimes you can understand what they tell you, and other times you just wanna shake ‘em, and shake ‘em! I can always tell that many people eat there because… the tables are always full of their trash. The«tacos» are yuck. They are extremely greasy and lacking any real substance. The famous tomato juice that said tacos are swimming in stinks. It is like reheated, tomato soup that is going through a rehabilitation program. The cheese stinks too. The cheese is illogical and challenges one to believe that it is cheese-cheese…(lol, I said chi-chis) you know, the kind that has milk in it — from a cow… I know, I know. There are other things like the hotdog/hamburger concoction but… yuck. I just don’t get it. I don’t think I ever will. It makes me sad that this is like«the place» to take out-of-towners when there is a plethora of well-known and hidden gems in El Paso. I wanted to join the cultish mentality of becoming a Chico’s fan. I wanted to fit in so badly. I have forced myself several times as a kid. I can’t hang guys, I’m sorry. I have been into this establishment several times with friends of course. When I have gone into the one on Dyer, I usually go across the street to Whataburger so that I can return with smuggled delicious food… so I can sit with my friends as they feast on their bounty of curiosities in mystery liquid while others look at me in envy.

Meh… I tried this place a few years ago. I was driving through the area and I figured I’d give it another shot. I forgot how disappointed I was. Everyone raves about how wonderful this place is and how amazing the tacos are. Boy, I was in for a rude awakening. The tacos are bland, to say the least. They are completely flavorless. The sauce tastes like something out of a can with salt added. Oh, and they’re cash only… Really?

I don’t know if people really enjoy the tacos here, or if most of the patrons are too drunk to care. Honestly, I don’t get it. Everyone(locals mostly) raves about this place, but I’m confused. Taquitos sitting in a swimming pool of tomato soup with non-melted shredded cheese on it? Really?! That’s their big draw? Hmm. Something is missing here. OH I know, actual food! What the heck is that? I mean come on. But, I guess it’s an El Paso thing. The only reason I decided to try it is because of all the rave reviews my friends have given the place. Sorry friends, but you all have strange taste.

I don’t understand how a place that serves crap food can have such a large following. I get it, it’s El Paso’s restaurant, that doesn’t mean you have to eat such garbage. Seriously, the cheese tasted like crap(I am using crap a lot), the food was not hot enough to melt it, the tomato juice was water with some coloring, and the flautas themselves were pretty tasteless. With soooooo many great food options, why does Chicos thrive, when it is utter garbage food?

being that I no longer live in ELP I miss Chicos… that’s the first place we hit as soon as we get into ELP, plus we normally take some home already frozen and ready to go. I love the tacos and the fries, the fries you MUST soak in the soupy sauce after you eat the tacos, there’s no and’s if’s or but’s… it’s a must… I can’t wait to eat there again on my next visit which I hope will be soon… I miss my Chicos… my only complaint is that they only take cash… Nowadays people pay with credit cards or debit. I don’t get why they don’t upgrade. they’d probably increase their sales if they did… anyway… i’ll be back…

I’m going to do my best here, not to aggravate the locals. My rating is more of a 2.5 than a 3, but I’ll round up due to Chico’s being a friendly environment. Came to Chicos with some EP residents and Chicos was super hyped up because it’s such a local favorite. I was excited to try their famous rolled tacos! Get a single(3) or a double(6) that’s smothered in their sauce and covered with tons of cheese. Food Network’s Aaron Sanchez even touts Chicos as the«best thing he ever ate,» so it has to be good, right? My California tastebuds did not enjoy these very much. The tacos were soggy due to the very runny sauce that was a little bland. The meat inside didn’t seem to have much flavor either. The cheese had the biggest flavor. The green sauce you get on the side was pretty good and did add a lot to the tacos, though. I ended up eating 9 of the rolled tacos because I was hungry, not because they were good. They’re ok, but definitely nothing I’d think about when looking for good Mexican food. The late-night appeal is good, though. Something quick and fried while intoxicated! I didn’t have a bad experience here. The service was friendly and pretty quick. The food just isn’t all that. I’ll stick to my carne asada fries, California burritos, and super nachos!
