This is one of the best udon noodle shops I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to many! The beef curry udon soup is to die for. Not overly spicy curry broth(just a tingle on the tongue) with perfectly cooked noodles and tender beef is amazing! Even the basic noodles in broth with green onions is a delicious soup. The curry rice bowls and curry croquettes are some of my favorite items as well(you can tell I like curry huh? lol). The cashiers are always nice and answers questions but the menu if I have any, and although the wait for the food is a long one I know it’s always worth it! They also sell onigiri that is «fresh», compared to the colder ones they sell at the market itself so thats always a good option as well. Try it out and see!

Perhaps the only reason my my wife and I like going to Mitsuwa Marketplace. The wait times during any weekend amount to at least 45 minutes per order. This doesn’t include the wait time in line just to try and order. The strategy should be that one of you order and everyone else should go hunt for a table. Either that or arrive at around 11 a.m. Food: The chef definitely takes his time, but the product is perfect, every time. Ippudo in Manhattan may be selling the same exact items. Broth is strong in salinity but flavorful. The meat and noodles are usually served in tiny portions, making one savor the flavor. I recommend ordering everything in large, especially if you’re fat like me. The marketplace itself is worth a visit, but everything is overpriced. Guess this is among the wealthiest areas of New Jersey.

Much shorter line than the alternative at the food marketplace, but just as tasty. I also love their rice balls(onigiri) which are conveniently sold at the counter as you order and pay. What can I say? Delicious, authentic and affordable. I usually get the shrimp udon with an egg and a salmon onigiri.

This is why I keep coming back to MITSUWA! Over the last million years, I’ve been to Mitsuwa hundreds of times. I’m not joking. I’ve had my phases. Ramen, udon, soba, the noodles, etc. Sometimes I’d even get the dumplings or rice. But seriously, the udon is why I keep coming back. I always get the shrimp tempura udon. Add some shichimi togarashi and you’re golden.

Sanuki Sando’s udon is my most favorite within the NYC-Edgewater area. Very authentic, and always well made. Taste is exceptionally of resemblance to what udons served in Japan is. Love their cold udon with shrimp tempura.

I love their gyu-don here, I love it so much that I always get two bowls of it for myself whenever I come. My boyfriend usually gets a gyu-don and a curry beef udon. The staff is very friendly, food is prepped well and still hot when you get it and the food is at a decent price. Remember cash only!

Mitsuwa has so many options, and they had some special regional food today. I chose a shorter line. I ordered a bowl of udon with salmon roe. While the sets of food seem expensive, a bowl of udon costs very little to make, and at about $ 5.00, this wasn’t cheap, as the contents of the bowl didn’t reach very far up from the bottom. What matters is the taste, and it tasted very good. I had time to get a Mitsuya Cider in the store and return with plenty of time to spare. The people working the booth were very friendly, while the cashier for the grocery couldn’t have been more bored or indifferent. I think they should have offered some pickles with the udon to add some variety.

Their cold udon with their shrimp tempura rocks!!! The udon here are so soft and chewy! Truly delicious! This place is definitely on my top 3 places to go to get cold udon noodles. Great thing was that it was not expensive.

Yum! Yum! Yum! I got their special of the day, can’t quite remember what it was, but it came with a bowl of udon and a small bowl of seafood on top of a bowl of rice. Didn’t even touch the rice; slurped my udon and broth and munched on the seafood/egg thing on the side. Would definitely recommend this place!(Cash only)

Every time my boyfriend and I make a trip to Mitsuwa we always opt for Santouka Ramen. On our most recent trip to Mitsuwa, we decided to try the udon instead. According to my boyfriend, Sanuki Sando Udon was the first food place he tried at Mitsuwa and the food is a lot cheaper and is prepared quicker. Lines were definitely shorter. Food was prepared faster. Food was more inexpensive. Smaller portions. I had the udon noodle soup with Kakiage Tempura. It was udon noodle soup with with what appeared to be a mini fried shrimp pancake and garnished with bits of scallion. The udon noodle soup was amazing! I really enjoyed it especially the broth which was very flavorful and hearty. It was a nice getaway from what my boyfriend & I typically go for at Mitsuwa. The boyfriend had curry chicken udon noodle soup. He’s got a thing for curry noodle soups. It smelled amazing, full of curry goodness! Too bad, I passed on his offer of some curry chicken noodle soup. I should have at least took a sip of the broth. Lesson learned. It sure was a inexpensive and small lunch. We need a side of gyoza just to fill our tummies up. I really enjoyed my bowl of udon from Sanuki Sando Udon. My udon craving has been satisfied!

WHEREDOYOUGOWHENYOUWANTTOGETYOURUDONON? Mitsuwa has so many food shops and aisles of options if you’re getting hungry while food shopping. There is nothing like a hot bowl of soup to heat you up on a cold day and the only way to make a good bowl of soup better is to fill it with thick white udon noodles. It’s always easy to find down in FiDi as most of the cafes have a Korean corner, but it’s surprisingly difficult in the 7024 even though it’s Korean Country out here. To get you fill of some good Udon you’ll need to head down River Road and hit Sanuki Sando Udon in the Mitsuwa Marketplace. «Sanuki Udon» is the most famous for its delicious taste in Japan. I usually get my Udon soup with an ample serving of vegetables, kimchi, and beef. But that’s not Sanuki style. The Sanuki Udon is all about the noodles which are first boiled in hot water to cook and then rinsed in cold water to preserve texture. I usually order the #7(Noodle Soup with Cooked Thin Beef) and kick it up a notch with enough Shichimi Togarashi(seven flavor chili pepper) to make my nose run. Not hot enough for you yet? Apparently not hot enough for me either! I run down an aisle in the prepped food section in Mitsuwa and grab some kimchi. In a perfect world, it would be nice if they could add the kimchi there, but there don’t ahve it in any of their menu products. They also don’t make any special orders, so there are no additions or substitutions to any of the menu items. So that means no veggies in my Udon unless I find some down another aisle and ready to eat. It’s not enough to turn me off, but keeps me looking for the FiDi Udon which I have come to love. Just remember this is Sanuki style, so let the Udon speak for itself!

I can honestly say that I have never ordered from Sanuki Sando Udon all these years that I’ve been visiting Mitsuwa. My go to place has always been Kayaba or Tokyo Hanten but for my visit this particular day I thought I’d skip my usual and try some udon at Sanuki. Their selection is not as varied as the other stores but they make up for it in flavor. I was in the mood for some curry the whole day so I decided to get their beef curry bowl with an order of curry croquette on the side. I was certainly not disappointed with the flavor of the curry beef bowl. It had the right amount of zing to the curry(wow I can’t believe I just used the word«zing») and the spice was mild enough that it didn’t overpower the flavor of the beef. They had a special for curry croquette at a dollar each so I ordered 3 pieces. Dang these little things are amazing. Totally snack heaven central. Great curry flavor, potato filling is moist, and the outside is crispy. I loved every bite! To be perfectly honest I think I loved the croquette more than the actual curry bowl, and this is what stops me from going one star higher on my review. For the main dish to be overshadowed by a side dish is disappointing. Also the fact that their portion size is a little smaller, for the same price, as the other stores’ food is bumming me out. For a first try of the place, I was pleased with the order, but it certainly could not compare to the other stalls in the food court.

Mmmm, yummy udon. Hail to the glory that is udon! This place has great fresh, chewy, and oh so good udon in near magnificent balanced soup broth. Order anything based on the plastic replica display menu window. It’s perfect for the broke, where $ 6 will fetch you a bowl of the good stuff. Think you didn’t get enough Udon and the savory item you ordered? Well then you’re missing the other half of the experience. Drink up that delicious broth. No need to hold yourself on manners or formality; down that sucker by burying your head in it. You’ll come out a happy baby. Credit is not good here, so whip out those singles that you’d otherwise use on things better not mentioned in public. Have a good time here and feel satisfied.

Yum! I had the biggest craving for udon after a long day of white water rafting and this hit the spot! The broth wasn’t super flavorful, but nothing a pinch of spicy flakes couldn’t fix. My order came out about 30 seconds after I placed it… I barely had enough time to put my change away, but I’m not complaining. The beef was good and they could have had a few more noodles, but it was just what I wanted and needed and I ended up having room for dessert. Can’t wait to come back and try everything else they have to offer.

Udon noodle soup done well! I took off one star because the portions are on the smaller side, but that just gives you more reason to sample other dishes around the food court! The broth is flavorful with kombu and bonito flakes, and the quality of the udon noodle itself is great. I enjoy eating their tempura udon, and their beef udon is pretty good too. Overall, quick and affordable(around $ 6 a bowl) for lunch. Husband and I always come here when we’re in town. It’s the simple comfort foods that bring us here. CASHONLY and no take out.

Every time I come to Mitsuwa, this is where I chow down. Their #7 beef udon is tasty and always hits the spot. The broth comes out hot and full of flavor with fresh scallions on top. Simple yet flavorful and for about 6 bucks you really cant go wrong. Cash only and no take out. =( I’d order to go too if they had the option.

If you need a quick udon fix this place is fast cheap and satisfying. They have a little box of tempura crumbs and spice if you want to add it into your soup as you please. The tempura shrimps are fairly large and with an order of this and a sushi roll or onigiri makes for a fairly solid meal. Top it off with a hot red bean cake from the vendor right next to it.

I like the udon here. Located inside the Mitsuwa food court, across from the green tea ice cream vendor. The line’s generally shorter than the ramen place. The food is still pretty decent, served hot, and fresh. I like the beef udon, and the curry beef udon is a little thicker in soup base, but tasty, nonetheless. Does not accept credit cards. Like the rest of the places, a display case full of food examples. There’s also various fried food here, be it either the fried tofu skin or tempura. They do not do take-out. Nice and cheap, too. $ 6 – 8 a bowl.

I love their bukkake udon. Their udon in general is great, and the noodles are cooked just right. Nice and chewy. If there’s one thing that gets on my nerves, its mushy udon. The portion sizes are a tad too small, though. When I’m finished I’m left not feeling full and craving more udon. Oh well, at least that leaves room for Oishinbo’s taiyaki.

Went there just before heading down to EWR during my NYC trip. The main reason for visiting Mitsuwa was Santoka, but I tried the udon here as well. The udon was far from what you’d expect from the term«Sanuki». It was ordinary udon, like what you could get at Japanese train stations/airports, so that was good. I was probably expecting a little too much from the word«Sanuki». Sanuki udon is stiffer, or more chewy.
