Love this spot. 1) Got the matcha bubble tea. 2) One of the few stores inside Mitsuwa which accepts credit card. 3) Price is very reasonable for the experience.

Yo. Matcha Love is dope. I’m not a huge fan of soft serve in general but theirs is great, it’s a nice texture and doesn’t melt too quickly(big pet peeve). Hojicha is the best flavor in my opinion, then matcha then black sesame(don’t understand why people get vanilla when the other options are so much more interesting). My go-to is the $ 5 waffle bowl with 3 flavors(hojicha, matcha, black sesame duh), it’s not that much more expensive than a single serving of one flavor and it’s a LOT of ice cream! Although if you want only matcha & black sesame you have the option of swirling them. Matcha Love is a must whenever I go to Mitsuwa. TBH I usually go to Mitsuwa just to get Matcha Love. They also sell green tea loose leaves, a huge variety! Like who ever could’ve known that there are that many different kinds of green tea. BUT avoid the bubble tea… this is the only reason I can’t give 5 stars. I tried the matcha flavor. Tapioca is bad, and they make the tea way too milky. In general, be wary when a non-Taiwanese brand attempts bubble tea — my greatest life advice.

I’ve heard rave reviews about their black sesame soft serve, so we were super excited to share one together. We put in our order and lo and behold, right when we’re next to get our ice cream, they tell us the machine isn’t working. Wth? We were pretty peeved, but we were able to settle on the roasted green tea after they gave us a sample. It was awesome! Definitely better than the generic green tea. Shared a large cup of that goodness, even though my bf was pretty annoyed at the bs of it all. I just combed through a few reviews and found out other people had issues with the black sesame order as well. People here need to step up their game. Or get a new machine.

The Black Sesame Shake with Boba was delicious. Very sweet & creamy. However, it was almost too thick. It was almost too much to suck down when paired with ramen, because the ramen itself has a rich broth.

Yum yum yum. Long line but worth it. The black sesame flavor wasn’t «coming out correctly» when we ordered, but the roasted green tea & green tea were great! Very flavorful. Vanilla is nothing special — honestly just tasted like sugar. I guess I should have expected since green tea is their namesake and not vanilla. Hey! They are also one of the only places that take cards outside the super market /grocery part.

Everyone so happens to know Matcha Love’s soft serve ice cream. The first time I’ve came here a year ago I felt it was just okay because it was so water down but the second time I would say yummy. It’s nothing fancy just a simple soft serve ice cream with unique flavors like green tea(matcha), sesame, vanilla, roasted green tea(seasonal) and red bean(also seasonal). My greedy self got my waffle bowl(3 flavor choice), I chose 2 sesame and matcha and both flavor was delicious. I like the sesame more because the matcha you can find other ice cream stores. I think the waffle bowl is enough two people to share but a cone would of been enough for me. They also other latte, matcha, and tea sets. I would come back in the future if I’m close to Mitsuwa. Would recommend if you like soft ice cream ^^

I came here cause I was bored and saw a couple of reviews of this place. It’s located inside Mitsuwa market in Edgewater. The line for this place was ridiculously long, then again this place was super packed. Every time I have made an effort to come out here, the parking situation has always been crappy. Too much confusion, congestion, and bad drivers sucks for everyone except for car insurance companies. Anyhow made it to the front of the line wanted to try the Matcha Green tea soft serve ice cream, my friend had a mango bubble tea. They Bubble tea wasn’t bad. The Green tea was good but I am fan of Green tea flavor. So I would definetely have it again, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here unless… I was in one of the those Harold and Kumar zones and instead of White Castle I needed Green tea Soft serve ice cream :) Anyhow enjoy!

One star for the ice cream which is good. However their bubble tea is the most horrible thing. It is just like cream + milk. I came back and complain about it. They said it is just the flavor. I tried different types of bubble tea, some with heavy tea flavor, some are really sweet. But even the worst one I tried before is better than bubble tea here! They should say«cream milk» instead of bubble TEA!!! There was no manager I can complain with. Horrible place!

Located in the food court of the Mitsuwa Marketplace, it’s the perfect spot to finish off your lunch or dinner. I tried the triple flavor waffle bowl. Pumpkin Spice was the seasonal flavor for December 2015. In my opinion it was a bit too heavy on the spice flavors, it came off kind of savory. The Madagascar Vanilla really just tasted like plain old vanilla soft serve. You could be just as satisfied with vanilla soft serve at McDonald’s. The star flavor to me was the matcha green tea. It was the only flavor that was extremely smooth and creamy yet light and refreshing. Not too sweet and not too heavy on the matcha flavor, which I like, unlike other green tea ice creams ice tasted. The hoji-cha(toasted green tea) was unavailable so I could not taste it. The black sesame machine want working. It was only putting out I’ve cream soup but I was able to taste it and it was pretty good.

«Vanilla and green tea.» the disgruntled workers mutters. I just walked away from the worst bubble tea experience: room temperature and all milk, no flavor. blech! I turned back to complain, but I lost my nerve because Mitsuwa is so busy on Sundays. I will NOT be getting bubble tea from there anymore.

I’ve had their green tea matcha soft serve ice cream before and it is delicious. I saw on their menu that they also make a black sesame flavor too. I had to give it a try since I love black sesame. If you ever had those deep fried black sesame balls at dim sum, you will certainly like this ice cream. The flavor is spot on. It tasted just like the black sesame filling in those fried sesame balls. The line was a bit long but it’s definitely worth the wait. I would also avoid getting the triple waffle bowl. I saw they guy ahead of me get it. It’s small bowl and they don’t squeeze much ice cream into it. It’s a little sample of the three flavors and it cost more than a small size cone which I find is already large enough.

When you step into Mitsuwa, there’s one thing you can’t miss. It’s people holding green tea boba drinks in their hand and deliciously, and perfectly swirled green tea or taro ice cream on a cone. And now you’re just like… where the heck do I get this? Just look carefully for the very long line, almost daunting line, but I assure you my friend, it is worth it. It’s a little expensive, but if you’re a green tea lover, Matcha Love was made for you.

YESYESYES. As a lover of all green tea anything, this place has captivated my soul. It’s located right near the entrance of the Mitsuwa Marketplace with plenty of parking right out front. Nevermind the ridiculous line to order, do yourself a favor and try their delicious ice cream. I ordered the matcha green tea x black sesame swirl. The flavors are so rich and tasty on their own that even as a swirl, you can distinctly taste each one of them. And when eaten together, the flavors complement one another quite nicely. I wanted to try their roasted green tea flavor as well, but unfortunately they had ran out by lunchtime. Had that not been the case, I would have probably gotten the four-scoop waffle bowl to try every flavor(matcha green tea, black sesame, roasted green tea, and vanilla). They also serve milkshakes, bubble tea, regular tea, etc. I will definitely be returning!

I’m not a big dessert guy but this place was very good. I just got the matcha ice cream and it the flavor was really good. There’s some other options on the menu that I saw and I would definitely check them out next time I came.

Do ice cream bowl! Great price/value at $ 5.00! Price is decent. I would go for a black sesame cone any day over a mcdonald vanilla cone! depending on the day/time, you might find yourself waiting in line but luckily, line moves pretty fast. vanilla is disappointing and is not worth trying, same as what you’d expect from the fancy name Madagascar vanilla. however, black sesame is a must try and green tea too if you have never had green tea anything. did it exceed expectations for a 4 – 5 star? not really. but def worth 3 stars just for the black sesame flavor! keep an eye out for their cool social promotions. saw a flyer for instangraming pic w/certain hashtags for weekly raffle/giveaway. friendly service is always appreciate of course so that’s a plus!

been meaning to try this place back in Bay Area but missed my chances… welllll. i get to try it in JERSEYYYY Been craving black sesame ice cream for a while! For a small, its $ 3 and for a large, its not that much of difference. maybe a dollar more? If you really like ice cream. opt for the larger size… its more for your buck. They also have an option to try 3 flavors in a waffle bowl! BUT its not really worth it because each scoop is pretty small. I got the small and the green tea/black sesame swirl… BESTOFBOTHWORLD! You get to sample any of the flavors as well. The green tea is super super creamy… a bit sweeter than standard typical green tea ice cream(i know… this is like soft serve) dont get me wrong, i do like it but it was a bit too much after a while. Love the black sesame! not too much, enough to taste the nostagic childhood blacks sesame but not go crazy. Dont forget to get a stamp card!

Thanks for existing! I’ll come back soon, wait for me!(I get excited when it comes to ice cream) My sisters and I shared the 3 flavors cup for $ 5. We got the black sesame, green tea, and vanilla. In this case, I liked that the black sesame and green tea flavors weren’t overtly strong(sometimes strong green tea flavors taste like Irish spring soap) The African vanilla was very rich and vanillayy ;) The consistency of the ice cream was soft and creamy yet light. I enjoyed it a lot and hopefully you will too! Tip: add bubbles if u have a hard time choosing between getting bubble tea and ice cream… ice cream wins everytime

This place is everything that everyone’s said it is and more. The ice cream is super creamy for soft serve and they’re all flavors that you’ll rarely see anywhere else in the east coast. I tried the matcha, hoji-cha(roasted green tea), and black sesame in the waffle bowl. The black sesame was the richest of the three and you could taste it right away. Meanwhile for the matcha and hoji-cha, you needed to savor it a bit before you really got the flavor(or maybe it was overpowered by the black sesame??). They’re more subtle but definitely still rich in flavor and worth the hype. The hoji-cha was probably my favorite because it was the most fragrant of them all. The waffle bowl itself was also very crispy and fresh. If I could get ice cream from here everyday I definitely would!

Is it Ito En or Matcha Bar? Does it matter? No. I came here for one thing and that is that highly spoke about Triple Cup Waffle Bowl. Of course, I ordered the 3 flavors that almost everyone gets, Green Tea, Black Sesame Seed, and Madagascar Vanilla. None of the flavors stood out except for MAYBE Black Sesame Seed which I don’t like. You can read my Chinatown Ice Cream Factory review for that little tidbit. The waffle bowl, nothing remarkable about that as well. It was good to try once but I think I can just chase down a Mister Softee and get my soft serve that way. Not a fan.

Not leaving Mitsuwa until I get my ice-cream fix from here. I’ve always seen this place as just the hype and never really bothered to try it until my boyfriend(the ice-cream lover) wanted to try it. I have to admit, it’s pretty good stuff. BLACKSESAME soft serve, my favorite. That’s all I have to say. The service is really quick here, your order could be done even before you finish paying but they’re not lenient if you changed your mind on your order. * Don’t get the Earl Grey, it’s nasty. I’m a big fan of the earl grey flavored food or drinks but this one was a disappointment. The flavor was not rich and creamy enough. All I tasted was a hint of tea and a sugary taste. Save your money and just get the usual matcha, black sesame or vanilla.
