Smoothie King

I went to smoothie king today to get my regular smoothie, I trusted that it would be good. When I tasted it, it was terrible. I went back to the counter to tell them that the smoothie was to over barring with the strawberry and asked if I could get another one with not so many berries in it. She made me another one and it tasted worst the the first one. I was totally upset and turned off. I want be going back for a while because this is the second time it’s happened to me in a week.

Love it here, especially when it’s warm. The workers here are pretty good, all except one. The smoothies are ALWAYS awesome. My go to is the carrot kale. My Hunny loves the peach passion. It’s clean and they have toys for the kiddos.

Meh. Standard smoothies, but nothing great. A bit overpriced, not great service, very slow. Worth it if you are in a bind.

I visit this Smoothie King location at least 3 times per week. I LOVE smoothies and this place makes some delicious & healthy ones. The staff is always so friendly even though they are always extra busy. Great location, great service!

Two months ago this was one of the best Smoothie Kings that I had been to. Now under new management, it has gone straight down hill. They seem to have an all new staff, and with the exception of one young lady they are extremely rude. After my last visit over 10 days ago, and being waited on by a very rude young «lady», I went online and complained. Later that same day the new manager called me and told me she had been getting a lot of complaints. She told me she was hiring new people and that she would not only refund my money, but send me a $ 20 gift card. She said this would be going in the mail that day. Over 10 days ago. I have received nothing. It’s easy to see who hand picked these rude people.

Historically, the smoothies are amazing.
Recently I’ve been very disgusted and disappointed with the staff at Hwy 54 Smoothie King. I’ve religiously been going to this store for the last 18 months 1 – 2 times/​week and have to say I do not think I will return. It appears to have new staff who joke and flirt the whole time while customers wait, I recently got the app on my phone which was much needed for as much as I go here and was unsure how to use it. The girl behind the counter took my phone and with a PEN started writing on my iPhone screen with it trying to select icons on the application (this was painful to watch and I immediately asked for my phone back). The last few times I have gone with the new staff all my smoothies have been chunks of ice where I can’t just sip and swallow but have to chew through my smoothie. Coming here as much as I do gets expensive, this rude staff (who never picks up the phone and when they do have a complete attitude) and chunky smoothies I felt compelled to reach out and let leadership aware so they don’t lose any more service. I will not be returning to this store or any more smoothie kings and waste my money which is truly unfortunate.

Ordered a yogurt meal replacement smoothie. They forgot to put yogurt in my smoothie. Go figure! The girls behind the counter were less than professional and were chatting among themselves.

I came in to get my usual smoothie that I get from the Smoothie King in Olde Raleigh shopping center and the service was so slow. The girl made my smoothie and forgot it was in the blender and started washing dishes! After a 5 – 6 minute wait of other people being checked out before me, that had came in after me I asked where my smoothie was?!
The cashier could see my frustration and sincerely apologized and gave me a $ 1/​off coupon for a medium smoothie which was a great way to resolve the situation. The coupon is only good for their location so I’ll obviously be back :)

This is a fine franchise of Smoothie King. I don’t really have anything to say that distinguishes it from other Smoothie King experiences that I’ve had, but that’s really a compliment.
There are many smoothie options to choose from so you’re sure to find something that you like. Know that the largest size is REALLY big. A small or medium is probably plenty for most folks of average size/​hunger/​thirst.

Most other reviews have done a great job of summing up what’s awesome about Smoothie King, and I just wanted to add that I agree! These smoothies taste better than most others I’ve tried in the area, excepting the ones I make myself, at home. ;) Their «small» is a generous size, so I always get that, and they’re more than willing to work with me on making a custom smoothie, as long as I can tweak just the right ingredients from an existing offering. I love that they also offer snacks — I just wish they would take the final leap and «go green.» It would be SO EASY for them to switch to offering some organic choices, non-​GMO choices, using whole fruit instead of purees (they already have some frozen chunks, and they probably use whole bananas, which is good!)… and those styrofoam cups have to go. PLEASE switch to using something like corn plastic or something compostable! Ditto for the straws — paper straws are totally in. Add some USDA-​Certified Organic snacks, and this would quickly become a weekly treat for me, if not more often. As it is, I feel like I have to ration myself because of the waste and the fact that my home-​made smoothies are more nutritious.
4-​stars Smoothie King, but I have high expectations that you can reach a 5! Just GO GREEN! :D

Rachel and Darby are the best! Super friendly and helpful! Love this place! I come here every time after kickboxing or boxing class at LA boxing across the street. This is what I look forward to and work towards during my tiring 90 minute workout. I would often (4 times a week) drive from Duke just to get a smoothie from Smoothie King. Addicted would be an understatement. Love this place, love the staff! Two thumbs up!
My favorite: Organic Apple Acai

I love the caribbean way smoothie (with no papaya, and extra strawberries) from Smoothie King. It has become like a meal supplement for me. It’s healthy (which is a plus) and also gives me my sweet fix. They’re not the cheapest things in the world, but they’re worth the money and I love them.

Smoothie King is a convenient place for me to get a smoothie every now and then. I don’t come here on the regular because 8 – 9 bucks is a lot to pay for a smoothie (I can make at home much cheaper). They have a good advertisement out front which is to think of a SK smoothie as an alternative to fast food. In that case it’s not a bad deal, but I generally need more than a smoothie to satisfy my appetite.
I come here when I have a coupon for money off which helps (yes, I am thrifty). The last time I was there, I saw a sign that said they don’t except Groupons at this location, so keep that in mind.
They offer a wide variety of smoothies and group them by categories (STAY HEALTHY, GET ENERGY, TRIM DOWN, BUILD UP, SNACK RIGHT, INDULGE and KIDS). As has been mentioned by other Unilocalers they do a good job of listing nutritional benefits of their smoothie products on the menu on the wall as you walk in the store, and have printed pamphlets with nutritional info on their products you can take with you. (great marketing). The smoothies I have had here have always been refreshing and yummy.
You can also get add-​ons to your smoothie like ginseng, but that cost extra. This place can get crowded and is small as previously mentioned in other reviews. The staff does a decent job of handling the crowds though.

I absolutely love this Smoothie King. The Smoothies are delicious and the service is fast and friendly. I’ve been coming here since the day they opened a little over a year ago. If you’re looking for a breakfast treat, a midday snack, or after workout fare, this is the place to go.

i’m from california, and i’ve been a jamba juice fan for 12 years. since it’s hard to come by in durham (there’s one on UNC’s campus for those who haven’t discovered it yet), i finally decided to give in and try smoothie king. i’ve only been once, but the small smoothie i tried was delicious and filling. a little pricey, but not bad if you consider you’re getting a day’s worth of fruit servings in one beverage. they have a frequent buyers card, which makes for a nice discount.
