Tasty fish dumplings! The environment of the restaurant is great– clean, quiet and well decorated. The entrees need to be improved as the choices are limited and not very attractive.

The most disappointing opening day of a restuarant. The Clay Pot is a beautiful modern restuarant, with an asian flare on american classics. My friends and I went mid day during their first day, and we ordered their deal of 20 kabobs with a pitcher of beer. We ordered 5 lamb, 5 beef, 5 chicken wings, and 5 chicken kabobs. As a special they gave us each 2 free kabobs to munch on while we waited. First of all our hostess took forever too attend us, and almost seemed to avoid making eye contact with us. We had to eventually grab the attention of another employee for her to come bring us water, and take our order. This was consistent problem, and she never came back until we were leaving. A different person brought our checks and collected them. The free kabobs were an absolute disappointment. They were cold, over cooked, and tasted old. Then, our actual order was equally as disappointing, or worse. The lamb and chicken kabobs were cold, old, and equally as poor as the free kabobs. The beef kabobs were so over cooked that they were not etible. Lastly, the chicken wing kabobs were the only ones that were clearly cooked fresh and weren’t over done. Overall, a terrible service for an opening day.

I’ve been going to Northern China Eatery for the longest time and was excited to here about this place. One of my pet peeves is when the website menu isn’t the same as the restaurant menu. Online it shows you can order skewers individually. But when I was there I was only able to order from a «set» list, which had very very few options, nothing like the variety posted online. The set came with fried rice/salad. I only wanted the skewers as an appetizer and did not need the side. I got 4 lamb skewers from the set meal and it was extremely chewy. I had to spit some of the meat out.(gross!!) I will not be coming again for them. The presentation and décor of the place is very modern. Low rating because there were only two tables when I dined but the waiters were having a meeting. I waited for a long time for the check and had to physically look for someone… anyone.

Best northeastern chinese food in town. Make sure you order the typical northeastern cuisine, other dishes are not as good

Top clay pot is a new Northern Chinese restaurant, opened at the complex part of Gwinnett mall area on satellite blvd, specializing in Clay hot pot(or shortly called clay pot) and Chinese kebabs. They have been open since last christmas time and slowly gaining popularity. Initially when I came across the place in Unilocal,I kind of glossed over it but later when I showed this to my boy friend he seemed to like the menu and so we decided to give it a try. Now to think of it, I am glad we gave it a go. Location wise, it’s on satelite blvd, short distance on right from the pleasant hill rd. If you are going there for first time, remember this — it’s just right across the street from QT! There are plenty of parking spot availble for the restaurant for now. I am saying this because, currently this is the only business that’s open in this small complex and once other spaces are occupied, this could change. This is quite a big restaurant with plenty of booths and tables available. They also have quite a nice bar with bar stools. But as of writing this review, they don’t have alcohol/beer available yet but I was told that they are working to fix this very soon. The menu has four sections, even though there are number of items in each section. Cold appetizers, clay pots, regular hot entrees and Kebabs. Menu is given on their webste and some of our Unilocalers have posted it here as pictures as well. Please check it out. For clay pot items, the menu features two prices — one is for regular portion and other one for bit larger portion(great especially if you are sharing). We have ordered the following. 1) Spicy jelly fish with(napa) cabbage($ 13.99) 2) Spicy sliced lamb clay pot Large($ 13.99) 3) Chicken Gizzard Kebab 4) Chicken Heart Kebab 5) Lamb Kebab 6) Squid body Kebab ****Spicy Jelly fish with cabbage — I will admit, before this, I have only have had jelly fish once several years ago and it wasn’t a pleasant experience. So I was very skeptical when my boyfriend wanted us to try this. But after some internal deliberation, I agreed to give it a go one more time. If it wasn’t good, I would never have tried Jelly fish ever again. Fortunately, it was good. Better than good! Jelly fishes were cut to bite sized pieces, mixed with sliced napa cabbage and both were tossed in some a mixture of vinegary sauce that’s spicy, sweet and sour at the same time to give a perfect balance of taste and flavors. The spiciness comes from the fried red chili pepper pieces and it wasn’t overly hot — so eat jelly fish with it. The jelly fish itself was slightly crunchy(similar to beef tendon, only less slimy more crunchy) and that texture adds to the success of the dish. And also I think, this light cold appetizer brings nice balance to the whole meal as well. Mind you, at $ 13.99, it’s not cheap by any means. But it was worth it. Still, they should increase the portion size a bit more for something that costs as much as an entrée. If you are into the texture, this is a MUSTTRY dish here. ****Spicy Sliced lamb clay pot — I didn’t think much of it at first glance but as we started eating the flavor, taste and spiciness of the dish grew on us. The pot had generous amound of lamb, wood ear fungus, vegetables, mushrooms and a lot of quail eggs(at least 6, I lost count). This dish had good balance of numbness(from sichuan pepper) and spiciness going for it. I have had this dish in other restaurants and usually there will be lot of glass noodles and thereby less vegetables and meat. But here, there was only a hint of glass noodles and lot more of good stuff. It was served with rice. GETTHIS! ****Now comes the MUSTTRY part of the restaurant. While the restaurant has ‘Clay pot’ in it’s name, I believe they should add Kebab to it. I mean, this has be the best chinese Kebab I have had in Atlanta. Such a great quality meat, taste and the best part — CHEAP! For a sit down place of this caliber, Kebabs here are quiet cheap in my opinion. I really hope they keep these prices. When we ordered, the waiter gave us options to get it ‘Very spicy’, ‘medium spicy’ or just spicy! You all know me, given an option I always go for option with most heat! And boy, they weren’t kidding. It was so hot my eyes were watering down tears and my face would have flushed red if I didn’t have this hot brown tone! Verdict? we loved it!(Of course, if you don’t enjoy so much heat, I suggest getting it lowest spicy level) It wasn’t just regular heat but spiciness combined with flavor — I suspect balanced blend of cumin, coriander seeds and ground dried chili. Whatever it is, it was absolutely delicious. I can totally imagine myself getting it everytime with some cold beer — heaven! And this makes it a perfect late night place as well — they are open until midnight afterall! We loved every dish we tried this evening and the service was also very good. Granted, there were only few customers at that time, so we didn’t have any delay

Duluth always seems to be a stomping ground for many Asian restaurants. It’s where good restaurants go on and become a staple in many people’s diets or they die and a new one pops up. Top clay pot is a fairly new restaurant specializing in kabob skewers and clay pots. Clay pots are basically a hot soup filled with many yummies such as pork to fish and a plethora of vegetables and noodles. I tried the beef, fish, and beef rib clay pots. The beef was full of spice and flavor but the fish was lacking. However the skewers were the star attraction. The lamb kabob was flavorful, full of spice, and grilled to perfection. I recommend this place more for the skewers than clay pots.

I went to this restaurant with my boyfriend last night. What can I say? Wow!!! Everything is amazing. The price is decent, the food is fantastic, and the service is awesome. Their kabob is the best I had ever tasted in Atlanta. I’ll definitely come back for another time. Highly recommend!!!

I come here because of their kabobs. To be fair, the meat is not marinated as flavorful as Kabob House’s. Although the size is bigger, it charges 25 cents more each, may still be worth it. Don’t even order grill corns here, very chewy and tough. Depends on who grills the kabobs, sometimes the meat can be overcooked at Kabob house. The house special pot sticker is good and so is the lamb one if you like lamb. I don’t get the fish pot stickers. Not totally flavorless but nothing special. We ordered their pan-stir kidney and clams. clams have sands. Pan-stir kidneys is not bad. Overall, I would say the tastes of the dishes we ordered are ok. and it’s a bit over priced. What we like is the decoration and ambient environment. Customer service: they are still learning.

First time here, got introduced by a friend. The food is not bad at all. Ordered a potsticker, and a beef clay pot. The potsticker is very special! You can’t have this anywhere else. The beef clay pot is also two thumbs up! Not too spicy, you can have them to made extra spicy if you like spicy. I will be back for more.

Going kabob house? Nawwww come here instead. Their kabobs are twice the size and twice the deliciousness. Beef kabob is a little dry but still good Lamp kabob is tender and juicy Quail kabob is worth the price Bacon&Mushroom is very seasoned, and very juicy. Be careful with the spiciness. I cried a little. Seriously. Large portions on the kabob.

This is a great restaurant of China Northern cuisine. Their Kabobs are pretty good. King Mackerel Pot Sticker is my favorite. The sticker tastes like what my grandma used to make.(My grandma is in China.) The restaurant is not perfect. But given the northern cuisine is so rare in Atlanta, I give it five stars!

This is a new place that specializes in clay pot dishes mostly«soup» base. It serves authentic Northern Chinese clay pot dishes such as the oxtail soup and seafood soup. They also have other traditional Chinese dishes. You guys have to try their cold appetizer dish: Tofu with Thousand Year(Century) Egg… it is freaking delicious and also one of my favorite when I come here. It is best eaten cold and is smothered in a sweet soy sauce and fresh green onions. Their steamed and fried dumplings are delicious. We couldn’t decide so we got one of each and but now that I’ve tasted it. I would go for the fried dumpling next time. I just like crunchy food. :) I also recommend some of their grilled skewers: mini sausage, lamb, squid and chicken gizzard. Don’t ask for chicken liver, they’re going to give you chicken skewers instead… so no, they don’t have chicken liver. We’ve ordered their seafood clay pot which contains shrimps, mussels, clams, scallop, fish and seaweed. The soup base is very thin and light in tasting; broth flavor comes from all the seafood that’s cooked in the pot. Now don’t expect the oxtail and beef short ribs clay pot to be tender and meat falling off the bone. You have to work a bit with it but it’s worth all the effort. The oxtail has nice delicate flavor with the mushrooms and rice cakes at the bottom. I was very surprised to see rice cake in it but I absolutely love the chewy yet tender texture it gives the dish. These types of soups are great for cold winter nights! I’ll be back to try other clay pots.

Seafood is not fresh enough and the whole clay pot tastes bad. But the service is good.

Have been there twice, and will definitely be back for more. We had a large group of 14 people and everyone had something they loved. The lamb kebob and fish dumpling is phenomenal and the price is good too. Super friendly wait staff and manager. Would go back there in a heart beat.

I ordered the Vegetarian pot and it was delicious! !!! .ask for no water chestnuts if they aren’t your thing, I picked mine out. I also had the mushroom and sweet potato kabobs that were EXCELLENT. They did a really good job with my order, considering that they just opened. The bar will be opening soon and the décor is very sophisticated.

Not very good. I ordered the mackerel dumpling, just ok, as expected. The seafood family clay pot was terrible. was not as described. No vegetable, use Artificial Crab meat. the soup was too salty without any flavor like ginger, garlic or pepper, just plain salt water. Said to have sea cucumber but none was in my pot. All other seafood in the claypot were FROZEN seafood, nothing fresh. The soup was so fishy I have to go home, brush my teeth and rinse my mouth with listerine, and its still fishy. NO one asked us how’s our dinner, we have to chase down our waiter to pay. They only asked everything ok after we paid. Terrible. looking like another restaurant is ready to fail in 6 months. just wait and see…

I went during weekend and the restaurant seems busy but not fully packed. When we walked in the waiter was nice to inform us that we need to wait for 20 minutes because the kitchen was swamped with orders. We agreed and sat down the table and willing to give a chance. More than 30 minutes passed and no one else came to or table and checked on us. Later we found out that the same waiter start taking orders from the table next to us who came later than us. We got up and left the restaurant.

Very good food!!! Pot is a little bland have to say. But entrees & dumplings & kabobs are god-made!!! One of the best places for Chinese food I can think of! Citrus rib is also very good! Nice atmosphere too. Very friendly waitresses.
