I was here on a Friday night and order was quick(mainly no one really goes to Great Wall on a Friday night). The style and menu here is definitely very similar to Café 101 on Buford Hway. I order the basil squid. I’d say the flavor is a tad below the same dish from Café 101, but for the price it’s unbeatable. I have yet to try the get-it-fresh-from-the-market-and-how-them-prepare-for-you and I am looking forward to going back and do exactly that.

Located in the food Court of the GW Supermarket. This is the old Target Shopping Center next to Office Max and SHo Gun on Pleasant Hill. Thank you once again to Unilocal for helping find a place to eat within walking distance of my car getting repaired! OHYUMYUMYUM. Eggplant in garlic sauce. Warmed me from the inside out. Perfect after the mile walk in the cold! An d gave me the necessary energy to sight see around GW Supermarket! With a side of house made pickles. Crunchy, spicey pickled goodness.

Fried pork chop plate with rice, sauce, two types of greens on the plate… shared with others, LOBSTER with ginger, green beans with pork spicey, and bok choy with shrimp. Great dinner. We bought the lobster at the market and we bought the bok choy. They then cook it for us. Ice cream dessert. green tea and coconut flavor mixed. You MUST try this place. The price is silly cheap. The food is good. Go for it!

Top Chef Kitchen serves mostly Sichuan style Chinese food at prices ranging from $ 5.95 to $ 7.95. The portions are family size. Despite its claim to be the«best in town,» I think it’s only average but still tasty for the most part. Eggplant with garlic sauce and shredded pork — 4 stars. A very succulent and flavorful dish. This was not spicy, and the eggplant was firm and not too pulpy. Fried rice — 3.5 stars. Definitely above average. Beef with barbecue sauce — 3 stars. The beef is tossed with some watercress, which nicely complemented the dish. However the flavor of the beef seemed off, but I am not totally familiar with Sichuan food. One thing for sure is that this barbecue beef tastes nothing like the meats you can buy from Cantonese-style barbecue places such as Hong Kong BBQ. This dish was not spicy either. Shredded pork in garlic sauce — 3 stars. Very flavorful and savory with a vinegary aftertaste. It is cooked with some black cloud ear fungus, which adds a nice crunch to this entrée. Not spicy. Next time I want to try the basil chicken. Another customer ordered that, and I suffered a slight case of dish envy.

Top Chef Kitchen is located in the food court of GreatWall Supermarket. It’s the first restaurant on the left as soon as you enter the supermarket. Offering a variety of Chinese and Sichuan cuisine, most entrees range from $ 6 to $ 8, and is a good value due to the generous portions. I visited with a few other Unilocalers and the dishes we ordered include BBQ beef with vegetables(watercress I think), eggplant in garlic sauce with pork, and shredded pork in garlic sauce. Each entrée is served with a bowl of rice and additional rice is complimentary. You order your food up front and are given one of those remote devices that buzz and light up when your food is ready to be picked up. The eggplant was very good and the rest of the food is above average for a food court. Update: I was told that the chef here is the former chef from Café 101.

This place is 1 of 2 Chinese food stalls in Great Wall Supermarket — we picked this place b/c the food is cooked-to-order, vs. the other Chinese place which is more like cafeteria-style and similar to what you see in mall food courts except with a much wider selection. No surprise, most of the customers were either here or the other Chinese food stall. We had 6 Unilocalers but only 3 opted for family-style. I asked the lady behind the counter for recommendations — kung pao chicken(apparently different from the Americanized version), basil chicken, eggplant in garlic sauce, and sliced pork in garlic sauce. Entrees range in price from $ 5.95−7.95, and portions are generous — perfect for sharing. All three dishes we picked looked really great — and each dish cost $ 6.95. We got«Eggplant in Garlic Sauce w/Ground Pork»(my favorite — very flavorful & just like what you’d get in the restaurant), «Shredded Pork w/Garlic Sauce»(pretty good, kinda vinegary, not sure I’d get this again though), and«Beef in BBQ Sauce»(just ok, served w/watercress which I did like, had an interesting flavor but couldn’t pinpoint what it was, probably wouldn’t get this again). Overall 3.5 stars, and definitely above average for a food court. And like Jan K’s review mentions, next time I’d like to bring over one of the live lobsters from the seafood dept. and have Top Chef Kitchen prepare it w/the onions & ginger — apparently for just $ 5 extra.
