Stopped here after buying their Groupon. It’s very much a dive bar, which is fine, but we were told by the(very nice and apologetic) bartender that they just reopened their kitchen yesterday and the cook was MIA… So we didn’t get to order any food. Drinks seemed cheap enough. We got PBRs for $ 2 a piece. Not too bad of a place if you’re a local to the neighborhood, but my husband and I live in northern Denver so we probably won’t be returning anytime soon since it is out of our way.

I have grown up in this neighborhood Mike’s tavern is the worst place on Broadway. I went in this bar when it was Len and Bill’s and even though it smelled real bad I would go back to it back then before I would step foot back into Mike’s tavern. The owner is an ass hole and needs to more friendly with new customers. I totally would never recommend this bar to my worst enemy.

The food is horrible and overpriced me and a friend were there late night about 1:30 a.m. and my phone had disappeared on the table I began asking around and the first woman I asked gave me a complete attitude as if I was accusing her basically told me to F off then I asked to gentleman by the jukebox and they didn’t say a single word look like they wanted to beat the s*** out of me for just asking a simple question. horrible uncomfortable people. What a maggot hole.

You know I grade neighborhood dives on a curve: you can’t dock for ambiance, beer selections, or bathrooms. Those are the rules. And Mike’s is solid! The owner is a character and he will give you shit if you show up on a scooter. The waitress last night was swarmed with people and still stayed on top of our needs. The food was solid, hot, and pretty damned great! Burgers, philly cheese steaks, and hot wings, and there were no complaints and lots of smiles. In a category in which it’s hard to get things very right and real easy to slack off and get them wrong, Mike’s delivers all the cold beer, good eats, and character you need. I dig this place, would definitely go again.

If it had cheap drinks(because it looks like it should) I’d give it a pass but they were pricey! And not good! The bartender was very nice but otherwise…

My boyfriend and I joke that Mike’s is like drinking at an insane asylum. Which really isn’t that far away from the truth. Mike’s is a dive bar which is mostly inhabited by working class locals in their 40s/50s from the South South Broadway/Englewood hood. Many seem like they’ve been drinking there for several decades, and know each other and the owner(Mike). A few older gentlemen who I see every time I go in are either mentally ill or completely tweaked out on something. The bartenders are always super nice, pretty young ladies who must be tough as nails to deal with that clientele base. Good place to: get shitfaced for under $ 10, watch a Broncos game, film a documentary about the«other side» of Denver Bad place to: go on a date(ladies, you will most certainly get hit on), take out of town guests(they will think Denver is a shit hole), find deep and meaningful conversation

Cool place, nothing special, great prices on drinks, and kickass jukebox. The locals are friendly and it has a pretty good biker scene.

Nice place been going in there on and off ever since a bartender who happens to be a friend of mine began working there. Good people and a lot of regulars from where I used to hang out have migrated over as well as its about a mile away. One of the best happy hours ive enjoyed, and usually have a fairly good daily special on food as well. Only complaints would be is that the jukebox is a bit loud sometimes when its only 6pm, and they are slow to kick out people who have been overserved.

Not a dive bar anymore… In its former incarnation, Mike’s Tavern(or Mike’s Bar and Grill) was, in my opinion, the diviest bar of SoBo. I knew Len & Bills, I drug relatives out of Len & Bill’s and you sir no Len & Bill’s. But that’s a good thing. The configuration is the same(bar to left of the front door, Bathrooms up the stairs and to the right). However, gone is the squishy floors, the pinball machine and the blind staggering drunks(BSDs) that were the permanent inhabitants. There are still inexpensive drinks to be had but Mike has improved the kitchen with typical grill fare(which use to be a hand lettered cardboard sign that was more scary than enticing). Both the mural on side of building and the special events reflect the owner’s interests in music and cars. There are still some BSDs there but the ratio has gone from 90% to sporadic sightings. Its just too light and upbeat for them now.

Mike’s Tavern is a little neighborhood cantina in the Harvard Gulch neighborhood. It has bar food, and breakfast burritos(will update after I try). It’s got a handful of TVs and it’s not as divey as you might expect. Mike is usually there hanging out the nights I have been there. The jukebox is awesome and they will usually play it even if no one has put any money in it. Woman’s bathroom is clean and has been remodeled. I would say that Mike’s Tavern has been open about 6 months, maybe more. It is full of friendly neighborhood locals and the last couple times I was there, there seemed to be a younger crowd was discovering this place. I enjoy going here as it is in walking distance from my house and the people are friendly and I feel comfortable there. The bartenders are nice and attentive, service has never been bad. I’m proud to support my local watering hole that is Mike’s Tavern.
