This place used to have great underground indie music, but not really digging the hip hop vibe. Missing the bands:(

Came here for a birthday party which also provided the opportunity of seeing Toki, the Japanese Elvis while he was in town. I will repeat what others said, the place is a hole in the wall and well the early shift bartenders(older pair 40+) were nice enough but more order takers who didnt seem happy being there. The later bartender a late 20s attractive brunete, Tamara, was extremely nice and was great to see someone who worked here actually smile.

I’ve never been to a place where the urge to throw up was so strong. The dingy darkness of solid dive bar made you slightly unconscious of the mildew smell, in hopes of some classic adventure. The thin dirty carpet led to a dark«lounge» area that looked like a real spooky attic. As my friend ordered drinks I ran to the bathroom. I was immediately hit with a strong smell of aged old pee and Clorox bleach. It commanded an outcry and a soft gag reflex. We thought we might stay for cheap drinks but the first round was a surprising $ 18 for two. As we left a good friend was setting up for a DJ set. Surprisingly, I hear it’s some of the best dance music going on in Dallas. Formerly the Cavern, this bar, in operation for about 20 years, provides a little old new school artsy grungy fun in lower greenville.

Every time I come here there’s always a conflict between couples, people and bartenders. I came here two weeks ago and grabbed a Pineapple Vodka(as they never have cream for White Russians) and whilst I was having a great time, a bartender whose name I don’t remember, long haired, tall brunette and new obviously, had the audacity to tell me after I paid my bill«tips are appreciated» with a sarcastic eye roll as though I wouldn’t notice. She’s possibly the shittiest thing there besides the smell.

Worst customer experience I’ve ever had. I work on Greenville and got off work to get a drink. I ordered the same drink I always get which is deep eddy sweet tea and water. It’s a distinctive taste and my drink tasted like watered down tea. So I asked for a new drink and got a cranberry vodka and couldn’t taste any alcohol. The bar manager came up to me when I tried to just get a straight shot of liquor and was incredibly rude. I didn’t care for that place to begin with but would never ever come back after the way the bar manager and staff treated me. Wish I could rate it –5

It’s a dive bar for sure. Interesting vibe, hipster dancing upstairs, nerdy karaōke downstairs. Drinks are really cheap. Plastic glasses. Sort of reminds me of college. It was an ok experience but not really my scene.

They were super nice. Upstairs has records and a laid back feeling. The bartender was super nice and laid the law down when a guy tried to grab my drink. I know that being that slow upstairs wasn’t good for business, but it was very comfortable.

The door guy on Tuesday night was really mean to my friend and kicked her out for dropping a cup with a squirt of booze and ice onto the floor and not picking it up fast enough — within three seconds. There were quite literally six patrons including us. The bar staff were nice but this guy was so rude I can’t imagine I will ever go back or recommend it to anyone else. Better bars up the block. Not worth the drama!

We were here around midnight and I had more than few so I don’t remember a lot of details other than I liked the mini dance floor on the second floor and there was this bowl of chocolates on one of the bars that drunk me kept eating. I have this place gets four stars for the simple fact that I left my phone here last night and the staff did a great job getting it back to me. After my buddy texted me, one of the bartenders responded saying that my phone was turned in and will be there the next day. When they didn’t open right at 6pm, I panicked that they wouldn’t be open on a Sunday so near to Christmas and called one of the owners. The man, Moody, ensured me that they were going to be open(running late) and apologized for the inconvenience. I’m just happy that there are still good, decent human beings that still turn in lost items. :D Thank you to whoever did turn it in.

Great place for a quaff and a chill relaxing time. This is a dive bar, do not be mistaken, but the patrons and the staff are not dive characters. Safe comfortable environment to hang, drink, mingle and karaōke! Food — forget it. Get your drink on here. They do karaōke, they do bands and other stuff. They don“t do stuffy. Come dressed as you are. Pros– Drink Song Friendly Unassuming. Cons– Greenville Avenue parking Bathroom — dive Small — tiny. Upstairs — lousy music, dark, smells like THC. Come here to have fun. Come with your peeps and you can own the place!

Enjoy going to this place. I have never been there much for live bands but I enjoy alot of their DJ bookings. My most recent visit was a night when there was House music playing on one floor and a mix of Moombahton and Hiphop playing on another floor. Both being played by non-computerized DJ’s. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because they do not take Discover. But other than that definitely suggest this place when there are DJ’s playing. Great friendly and fast staff as well.

Stopped by here by chance looking for live music on lower Greenville and pleasantly surprised. This is a two story dive bar with live bands downstairs and an AWESOMEDJ upstairs. If Crown & Harp updated and cleaned up a little more, I could see it taking off. Very enjoyable.

Booths need to go to the back room… When a good shows there it takes up too much space down stairs. Some good shows there now and then worth it

Went on a Saturday night, if you are familiar with the area you already know parking sucks. Decent and diverse crowd. Great place if you want to converse with new people or chill with your hunny on a couch. Good drinks, good prices. My only complaint is the bathrooms… One toilet per gender, super cold, closet like and there was a steady line for an unflushable toilet. :(

Ordered a vodka tonic from the bar upstairs and received a bottle cap in my drink. The bartender made a joke about how I put that in there which would have been a valid comment if I had ordered a bottled drink but this was my first drink upon entering the establishment. The bar downstairs actually had a cover charge, so we were directed upstairs where it was free. The upstairs dj was playing weird music and we found out that the restroom was downstairs… Which happened to connect to the cover charge area. Loophole! We hung out there for a while but the music wasn’t worth staying for(or paying for) so we headed to the next bar on our bar crawl.

I waffled(mmmm waffles) on giving this 3 or 4 stars. 3.5 would be most appropriate. It isn’t a bad place… and they have lots of dark corners to hide out and people watch… or get felt up by your date. The prices are great… the entertainment is hit or miss… i’ve encountered some really shitty music here but i’ve also seen some great local unknowns cut their teeth here. I just prefer other offering along lower greenville… but it’s worth a visit every few months. Also…one time when they first opened a few years ago… the bartender took my drink away cause he swore that some cray lady put something in it… i appreciate when bar staff are attentive enough to prevent me from getting date raped.

Honestly I stop by here randomly & I always have fun. This is the classic dive bar. It’s dark, has strong drinks and plenty of entertainment. This 2 floor gem is always a great late night stop. It doesn’t matter if you’re there for karaōke or upstairs dancing to the dj, you will have fun!

It’s a tiny spot in my neighborhood. It’s decent. The drinks aren’t pricy, but they aren’t Denton prices either(I know we’re in Dallas). Lately, they’ve been pushing karaōke on certain nights to bring folks in. It can be fun too.

The Crown and Harp is a total re-do of the old Cavern Ale House, just next door to the much beloved Daddy Jack’s. It’s only been open about three months and I’m telling you, you should go try it out! We went by for an early beer last night just before dinner at DJ’s. We were early(5:45ish) and were the only folk in the joint for the 30 minutes or so we stayed. The premise is this… downstairs is the Harp, the Irish Pub part, and upstairs is the Crown, the English Pub part. It’s a non-pretentious, friendly, just dirty enough, pub-feeling place. Winning! The bartender dude(Dave) was super nice and really welcoming. We ordered our usual(me a Harp and a Guiness for Etienne). The Guiness was poured perfectly and my harp was yummy. In a smallish glass, probably not a pint, but whatever. We were given happy hour prices even though we were about 30 minutes too early for happy hour and our two beers came to $ 7. Yep, for a well poured Guiness and a Harp. Woot! The limited menu is very«chip-centric» but would be perfect for a night when you just want some bar food. The five items on the menu consist of: fish and chips, chicken-n-chips, shrimp-n-chips, basket o’ fries(chips), or cheddar fries(cheddar and chips). But I’m a fan of chips, so I’m not complaining. We weren’t able to go to the second floor where the english pub part was located because it was closed(too early), but we surely will have to check it out next time! I’m curious if they’ll have some cask ales up there… hrm.
