This is right off the hill and outside of elevation hotel. They are very clean and trendy inside. Giant chalk boards with drink and food specials. Good beer selection and relatively big menu. The prices weren’t awful. 10 burger and fries-2 craft beers 10 bucks. Probably a better deal in town but the food was good and quick.

Great lunch break spot on the mountain. We wanted a break one lunch break when all the snow was falling. Needed a good lunch. Got in pretty quick but thank goodness we quit when we did. Wait of those afterwards was lengthy. Avalanche burger yummy and filling. Reuben was piled high with meat. Portobello sandwich was good. The croissant sandwich you had a choice of tuna, chicken or turkey. Very good. Toppings you can choose. Close quarters Staff very good… quick service.

I was only there briefly and it was quite busy which says something about their service. Amy seated me and made me feel like I came to the right place. Molly made me feel like I have known her my whole life, and Robin was so sweet. Not to mention they are all gorgeous. Oh, yeah, their food is fantastic and everything else too. Shy hi to them all for me. And ladies I’ll see you in June when I’m back.

Fast moving service. Drinks: Good beer selection Food: Garden burger was plain and would not get it again but it wasn’t «bad». Avalanche burger was yummy. Avy steak sandwich was yummy. Dessert: Our group came back 2 nights for the desert. The Brownie sundae was HUGE and we learned after the first night to split it with an extra scoop of ice cream. The brownie was moist inside which its hard to imagine being how big it was.

Likely the best place for lunch on the mountain. But there are better options in town.

Friendly and attentive bar tenders, with tasty local beers on tap and delicious southwestern chicken egg rolls!

I would probably go with 3.5 stars. Pretty decent lunch. For the same price as on the mountain you can come here and be served. Warm inside, lots of TVs, fast service and pretty good food. Definitely stop by for lunch.

Food was great, staff was even better. You have to come to this place. The location is perfect and within walking distance of our hotel. Tons of cool stuff to see right around here. We will be back at Avalanche before we leave Crested Butte.

Great for an after ski drink. Don’t count on finding a spot at the bar — the locals/norms usually soak those a up early. The apps are a perfect serving of après food.

We had the avalanche pizza(pepperoni, roasted garlic, caramelized onions, mushrooms and canadian bacon) and it was good. After a long day of exploring, it was an easy decision. Kids Quesdilla was huge and it was good meal!

We are here right before the matisyahu concert across the way so it was packed! The place was fast and good. We created our own pizza and had a few drinks. Just a pretty good place to get some food in a hurry or hand out and have a beer. Worked for us!

This place is a slice of wonderfulness at the bottom of the slopes in Crested Butte. The food and drink options are abundant. The service is absolutely wonderful. Even the guy who runs the kitchen was there to greet us. I had an Avalanche burger with American cheese along with the clam chowder and a salad. The clam chowder, although a bit runny had some excellent flavor. They just need to thicken it a bit to be a chowder instead of a soup. The burger was a gift from above. I could taste the smokiness and I swear a cow was moo’ing as I bit into this scrumptious piece of American cuisine! The balsamic vinaigrette was also something worth noting. I saw a lot of burgers and sandwiches that would satisfy anyone after riding the mountain all morning. When we come back to Crested Butte again, yes, we will make a pit stop!

This is a great little place to have a good lunch or light dinner. We are here for lunch a couple times during the ski day. Quick in and out with good food(and cold beer). Staff is good and efficient. Loved the shrimp fajitas and we enjoyed the salads and burgers. Right off the slopes so good for après ski.

Besides finding a piece of metal in my cole slaw, this place is awesome! Seriously, as facetious as it sounds, it didn’t ruin my experience instead just put a small damper in our meal. We stopped in here while roaming around CB Mountain Resort and It was enjoyable. I love sports bars/restaurants and this place was pretty chill for being so busy. Natalie was our server and she was great, helpful and attentive. They have a pretty sweet list of hot drinks to give you a buzz and help you keep warm, I got the Avalanche coffee complete with chocolate and almond liqueur, brandy and whipped cream(because calories don’t count when you’re on vacation). It hit the spot and I could have had a few more but was a good girl and kept it at one. I ordered the Reuben with cole slaw and that’s when the ill-fated piece of metal landed in my mouth with the first bite. I let our server know and she got me something else plus the manager came over and said he had never seen anything like that and while let his distributor know. They compted my drink and offered dessert so props to them for handling the situation well. On another happy note, I love that they put sauce on the side with the Reuben, soggy sandwiches are the worst, and they somehow knew this about me without me saying anything. My bf had the cheeseburger and he said it was wonderful so I took a bite. For as simple as it looked, it was one helluva burger. I would definitely come back here again. Cute name based on the location + great food(sans metal piece) and service.

Longtime patron, first time reviewer. I’ve been coming here for years. It’s the best lunch at the base. I’ve never been disappointed other than when I want to have pizza lunch. That doesn’t fly so don’t even ask. I haven’t tried the entire menu, but I’ve tried a lot. The salads are great. The soups: hot and hearty. The burgers are juicy and the fries crisp. It’s everything you want for a meal after a morning of skiing. On top of quite exceptional food is the great beer selection. They offer many beers on tap and even more bottles. You’re sure to find one that suits your palate. Perhaps the most underrated aspect of Avalanche is their pizza. Because I’ve been there most frequently for lunch, the pizza gets overlooked. If you’re there for apres ski or even dinner, consider the pizza. It’s the best on the mountain and some of the best around. Couple the pizza with the beer and you’re set for the evening. You won’t be disappointed.

The only restaurant at the base area worth going to. The food is basic bar food served very consistently. The service is always good and friendly. Sadly, the open season is very short. The Avalanche is only open from late-June to early-September, and then in the winter. And, during the summer, they don’t serve breakfast which is strange since the base is crowded during summer mornings. Definitely worth the stop for après-ski in the winter.

Great atmosphere — friendly staff and timely service. Decent selection of tap beer and reasonably priced. I had the fish and chips — 4 pieces of well battered fish that wasn’t very greasy and was very tasty. Wife had the portobello sandwich which was quite good as well. With the friendly staff, reasonable prices, and good atmosphere I don’t see a reason not to try it out.

Not sure what I should expect by a mountainside bar, but we’ll say three stars? Why don’t these places understand that they will be busy at lunch and apres ski? No matter where you travel, they always have too few bartenders and servers… Anyway, we ate here for lunch after a few hours on the hill and it was PACKED. It has a nice selection of drinks(including a dark & stormy, my favorite) and food. There are tv’s everywhere(which I’ll complain about in a minute) and the food is decent. I ordered the lobster salad and, frankly, was surprised when the lobster did not come out of a can, but looked and tasted relatively fresh. My big issue here was the TV situation. WEAREINCOLORADO!!! Yet, we(and another table) had to beg and plead to get the Bronco’s game on??? Because there was some jack-arse from New York, we had to suffer through half the Jets-Giants game, just to watch ten minutes of the Bronco’s game. Seriously — we are in COLORADO! Anyway, it is a decent choice for a mountain meal, but head into Crested Butte if you want to have better options.
