Great bar. Pool table, juke box, a few TV’s, dart board. Drink prices are fantastic. Pizza is great, although a bit pricey.

A group of friends and I went to Meister’s after hearing about their Chicago style deep dish pizza. Food: It’s pizza. It’s always good. In terms of Chicago style deep dish it wasn’t the best I’ve had. The crust is pretty hard and there wasn’t as much cheese as the stuff from Chi-town. However, they make a damn valiant effort to be authentic and the pizza is still good. They had some thin crust pizza as well and it looked pretty good. Service: You have to get up and get beer and pizza yourself. The big upside to this is no one is shoving you out the door. Environment: Dive bar. Played a lot of classic rock. They also turned on the Cavs game when it came on. Darts, pool, and pinball is available. Parking: You might have to go with street parking, but the street isn’t far away. Overall: If they nailed the pizza, this would have been 5 stars. I’m a fan of dive bars, but I can imagine someone who isn’t would be turned off by the place. I’ll be back to have their thin crust pizza at some point.

Had salad, garlic bread, regular and deep dish pizza. Deep dish very good. Other items good. I would definitely recommend the deep dish over the regular crust. This is a bar so not young kid friendly.

We really liked the Chicago style deep dish pizza. Warning to parents-this is a bar with very limited seating. We came with our 9 year old and were glad we went for lunch and was able to snag the ONE table in the loft area. Can’t wait to return — but it may be for carryout :)

Pizza is really good for Columbus deep dish!(I grew up outside Chicago and my husband went to college in Chicago.) The best deep dish in town! But. They need to step it up with toppings. Very weak! We ordered sausage, onion, and pepperoni. Sparse! Very sparse. Mostly sauce.

Good pizza, but it does take about an hour and a bit pricey! 2 beers and two large pizzas was $ 50

While the pizza here was delicious, we waited 2 hours for one pizza. We were warned that it could be up to an hour, but 2 hours seemed a bit unreasonable. Other than the wait the atmosphere was mellow, quaint, and warm. Stocked with pool tables, darts, and TV this was a nice place to relax and drink, but I suggest carryout if you’re just in it for the pizza.

A surprising find! This bar serves by far the best deep dish(Chicago style) pizza that I have had in the Columbus area. I know this is probably blasphemy, but I liked the pizza here even more than Chicago’s Giordano’s pizzeria. The bar/tavern itself is not easy to find(at least I had never known of its existence before tonight). It’s tucked away on a dimly lit road in Upper Arlington not too far from the OSU campus. It has a parking lot so that was convenient. Maybe on a Friday or a Saturday night parking may be an issue but there were plenty of spaces on a Sunday night. It’s a humble looking thing with TVs everywhere, two pool tables, and even a dart board. To order your meal, you have to go into the bar a bit and then turn left to find the counter where you place the order right in front of their kitchen. We ordered the classic pizza, which came with mushrooms and meatballs(and of course lots of cheese). This pizza takes a while to be made(45 minutes, so order ahead if you’re in a rush), but it is well worth the wait. Plus we chomped down some chips with a buffalo chicken dip while waiting. The pizza itself is huge. One pizza was more than enough for four of us(with some leftovers for home). The pizza sauce is delicious, and the crust is really well made. It’s really a dive, but that’s part of the charm. I’m glad I found it and am looking forward to trying out some of the other speciality pizzas here.

We went here for a true Chicago style pep and mushroom pizza and it did not disappoint. The sauce was delicious, not too much on it and it had a bit of a kick to it, which was awesome. We waited over an hour for it but it was worth it. You can eat about one piece and that’s it but it is great re-heated as well. Only downside is it is very small and it was packed when we went, which was good for them but the guy who took our order was a little rude and short with us. Waiting over an hour for a pizza doesn’t make that ok. We ended up going to another bar to drink because it was so busy and came back and got the pizza an hour later. Overall I would recommend this place for true Chicago style pizza in Columbus. We will definitely be back!

Best Chicago pizza in Columbus! I’ll be back for more again. Great homemade sauce and ingredients. Nice dive bar feel without the creepy regulars.

Here’s my take: great, relaxing, local bar in Grandview. Off the beaten path. A few parking spots right out front and along the side. Otherwise, free street parking is ample I this neighborhood. Small inside. Four or five 4-person high top tables. Two bigger ones that can pull off six people. The bar, to the front/left of the main entrance, is decent size. The bartenders were efficient and fast. I was surprised this joint wasn’t paled, it being Saturday nite. But then again, it was Halloween, so with all the things going on around town… It left our big group of 15+ all the room we needed. So, what is Meister’s known for? Or IS it even known for anything? Their pizza. Made fresh, hot, 16 inch deep-dish Chicago style pie. Dough, toppings, sauce on top. Most important to know? They only make 16″ concoctions. Fortunately, Arvid and I went in together(boy would that have been some serious left-overs)! Sausage, mushroom and green pepper. $ 23, split in half. The thick dough was ok. Did I devour every part of my three huge slices? No. I couldn’t taste the dough. Nothing distinct. Same to the selected toppings. Sausage was few and far between. Is the meat«crumbled»? Visually spotted a few shrooms and green chunks. Bummed that even the hot, gooey cheese had no flavor. I had some high hopes for this awesome reputation pizza. A bit sad it didn’t hold all the way through. It was worth the hour-long wait. I could tell these pies are done with love. I would definitely come back here, if friends were meeting. A solid 3.5. Don’t think it’s left too much of a lasting impression that I’d come back on my own fruition. Nevertheless, the local feel of this bar, digital jukebox and all, made for a fantastic evening!

This place is amazing! Very fun and a lot to do, and drink are actually decent, plus the food is great! Some customers can be creepy towards women but if you tell the manager they always take care of it!

I am absolutely in love with this place! Firstly, there is limited parking out back and front. Secondly, it’s a smaller, dive place. Expect limited seating for a Friday or Saturday. You can entertain yourself with booze, food, pool or bowling(ish) while you wait. Also, you can chill in the small patio out front. Now for the review and the good stuff! We ordered the Buffalo Chicken Bread($ 7-$ 8), Hand-Tossed Pep($ 13) and Deep Dish Pep($ 19). All were fantastic! The Hand-Tossed was my favorite but the Deep Dish was a close second. In fact, if you get a DD, make sure you get a specialty or 3 – 4 toppings. That tends to be more pricey, but it will be better in the end! Lastly, it’s a dive bar! Booze is cheap($ 2.50 for domestics I think). There’s also a cool little private room area that’s first come, first take. If you haven’t been here, listen to the peoples and go!

This was my first time eating here. We got the deep dish pizza with sausage which was very good. Great happy hour prices — $ 1 cans(select ones) and $ 1.75 domestic bottles. It is a good place to come for a night out with friends. There are two pool tables inside with lots of tvs. It’s a Browns backers bar so it’s packed for Browns games. There is a patio out front. The only downside is, is that smoking is allowed on the patio. Overall, I would recommend checking this place out for pizza and beer!

Meister’s Bar is one of the great hidden pizza shops of Columbus. Not much of a parking lot, but once you get in it’s a pretty chill atmosphere. If you’re just trying to order a pizza there’s a separate number for the kitchen. I heard they had a pretty good deep dish pizza so I wanted to check it out. It wasn’t really a deep dish in my mind but I went in expecting like Chicago style deep dish. But the pizza alone on just flavor, size, and smell was amazing. You do get your money’s worth, and I will definitely be going back for more.

I ordered a pizza here on Sunday, because I’d seen so many reviews talking about the delicious deep dish. Trying to break the monotony of Columbus pizza, I knew I had to give it a shot. What I found was not really deep dish but more like an Adriatico’s style with the cheese and sauce flip-flopped. The bottom crust was way too thick for me to consider it deep dish, but either way, it was still a damn tasty pizza! It takes about 45 – 50 minutes to get a pizza, since it is such a thick pizza, so if you’re ordering ahead, plan accordingly. Or, you can drive right over and have a few drinks at the bar. Honestly, I didn’t realize how close this place was to my house, and when I walked in, I was surprised by how chill the bar seemed. I actually wouldn’t mind spending some time here. Plus, they have pool tables, pop a shot, and pinball machines! It’d be a great place to start the night. If you come in through the front, then you’ll want to go to the right and to the back to pick up and pay for the pizza. The bartender at the front was really nice about pointing me in the right direction. As I waited for the pizza guy to finish up packaging my pie, I scanned over the rest of the menu, and they actually have a pretty good variety of sandwiches and appetizers. I’ll be back to try the Italian sub. As for the pizza, my girlfriend and buddies loved it and were excited to try it out in the future. A 16″ deep dish runs about $ 19, but the pieces are so filling that I could stretch that out over a few days easily. I won’t be surprised to find myself back here again soon for food as well as some drinks!

Yet another one of those places that I never knew about when I actually lived in Grandview as part of a childless couple that I then discover six years too late as a middle aged dad. Oh well, a missed opportunity then. Still, if you didn’t have kids, you could totally wander in at 2pm and stumble out at 2am and never be bored or hungry. TV’s, pool tables, bar games and plenty for the beer and liquor drinkers to occupy themselves. As far as the hungry part goes… The pizza is great! But… It’s not technically Chicago-Style deep dish pizza. It’s very good thick crust pizza. As long as you don’t judge Meister’s through the prism of Chicago Style, you will leave fat and happy. And maybe little inebriated.

It’s hard to find good Chicago style deep-dish pizza in Columbus. They do a great job here! The bar is a younger crowd, but with pool, darts, and a clean-dive bar feel(oxymoron?), it’s a great place for any age.

It just goes to show you that you can’t judge a book by its cover. I walked into Meister’s Bar with no expectations at all and I left becoming a huge fan. Don’t let the bar’s dated exterior and interior fool you. Not only is Meister’s a cozy and eclectic bar, they also serve up some good deep dish pizza. I am by no means a deep dish pizza expert. Truthfully i’ve only had it a handful of times and I actually prefer Neapolitan and New York pizza(don’t hate me Chicago). With that said, the deep dish pizza at Meister’s is quite palatable. It’s not as rich and heavy as other deep dishes i’ve had in the past, which were often overwhelmed with cheese. I actually enjoy this«lighter» pie. It’s still richer than the average slice and two slices will fill you up. Not the case here. The amount of cheese and sauce are nicely balanced. The sauce is sweet and tangy with just the right amount of acidity. The crust has enough structural integrity to carry its ingredients, yet is soft to the bite and not greasy. The other great thing about Meister’s is the bar itself. It’s actually rather ordinary, but its divey and unassuming atmosphere make it very comfortable for patrons. It’s the perfect low-key bar to catch up with friends after work. They have two pool tables and also a dart board. The drinks are reasonably priced and they even have Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier on draft. That’s almost an automatic 4-star rating for me. Anyways, i’ll definitely be back. If it tastes this good, I don’t mind eating pizza with a knife a fork.
