Great local bar w/patio, concerts, and a great drink selection.

A little surprised I haven’t already reviewed this. I am not a regular, but get here for shows once in awhile. Acoustics are great. There’s a small stage where you come in, and the main one in the other room. Met my cousin and Tom H. to see Hayseed Dixie this time. The opening act was good, and kept the crowd busy while waiting. On that side, there are plenty of tables, and of course the bar. The bartenders were busy but friendly and fast. There’s a decent beer selection, and barbecue from Land Yacht, I hear. It looked really good, but sadly I wasn’t hungry. Over on the other side, the stage is a bit bigger and there are fewer tables. We saw a helluva show, and you could sit, stand, dance, or go out on the patio. There is a small bar on that side, and with restrooms on both sides pretty much every need was met. All in all, a great place to see a band, with plenty of food and drink options. Parking is very limited out front, so scope out the neighborhood behind them for legal spots.

Best French fries in town! Crispy on the outside and soft inside! Hamburger was good and very tasty! Loads of TV’s, bowling and pool tables inside.

I love this bar! The quality of staff, management, and music is outstanding. The patio, in nice weather, is wonderful. The outdoor fireplace really adds to the ambiance as well as the beautiful flowers. Woodlands has some of the best bartenders in town(especially for a high volume bar!). It’s a great place for all«legal» age groups. AND best happy hour anywhere in the city! I would highly recommend a visit if you have not already done so!

I seriously love woodlands tavern. They have a huge draft list, which all craft beers are only $ 3 dollars during happy hour which is cheap in my opinion. PLUS it doesn’t get much better than a Saturday happy hour until 8pm! Cheap drinks+live music was always what made us to go Woodlands. Only thing I miss, is being able to get a slice of Mikey’s but I won’t let that stop me! I always have a good time, and have good service.

Nothing special. I saw the reviews on how the bartenders were rude, didn’t think much of it and went there to see a bluegrass band play. They were awesome. Only complain was the bartenders being really rude to me and my friends. Don’t know what we ever did because one of the lady was giving us the look when we tried getting a drink. Another male bartender was rude to me too because I was standing in the corner waiting to order a drink? Rude rude rude and Horrible service. Never coming back. Run if you can.

I visited Woodlands Tavern for a concert on December 17, 2015. The staff I encountered were very rude. 1) My friend called to ask if there would be a fee for concert-goers under 21. The woman told us they are strictly a 21+ bar, so anybody under 21 would have to be accompanied with a parent. Mind you, the tickets say«all ages.» Also, we’re 20. not 12, so suggesting having a parent attend with us came off as rude. 2) I knew this had to be a mistake, so I called again and asked for the manager. I asked the same question and he actually cut me off and very rudely explained to me that they are usually 21+, but since the band is basically«renting the venue» it would be all ages. I had figured this, but was just calling to confirm it since the lady before worried my friend and I. I was honestly very polite but could barely get a word in because he kept talking over me. 3) This really isn’t why I’m giving them a low rating, but while we waited in line we were inside the bar area. It just seemed bland, and I didn’t like the atmosphere. To each their own. 4) This was a pop punk show which involves crowd surfing, stage diving, pushing, etc. The stage is very small, very short, and there is actually speaker equipment in front of the stage that acts as a «barrier» to the stage. This equipment is knee-level, so everybody up front was literally getting thrown over the speakers and onto the stage during the sets. A staff member accused my friend and I of pushing one of the speakers, on top of another speaker, off onto the floor because we politely told him he should probably just leave it there instead of putting it back because the crowd will continue to push people forward and, consequently, knock the speaker off. It’s nobody’s fault that they have equipment right in front of people at a more aggressive show. Overall the show was amazing strictly because of the bands’ performance, but I had a very bad venue experience. This is the first time I’ve been to this venue, and I truly hope none of my favourite bands ever choose to play here again.

Woodlands is truly as good as it gets in Grandview and is one of the gems of Columbus as a whole. The quality of the music that comes through is very very good and the food has always been delicious as well. The veggie burger is probably the best I’ve had in Columbus. The bartenders are attentive when they are properly staffed and it is relatively clean given the traffic and abuse the place goes under with all of the music goer traffic. I’d dock this place a star for the lack of parking out front but the 4 nearest streets typically have plenty of spaces.

I’ve been to Woodlands Tavern a handful of times and really like the layout and feel of the place. I’m nowhere close to being a regular, but if I lived closer, I’d be here every weekend. They always have a great selection of local beers on draft, and they just recently moved from serving Mikey’s Late Night to having their own food. I can’t say the food I tried was amazing, but I wasn’t expecting much from a $ 2.50 chili cheese dog and fries. Surprisingly, the fries were $ 4, which seems a bit high for fries, but they were pretty tasty. The aioli that comes with them is really good, but I couldn’t taste much of the Cajun seasoning. The place has a great patio as well with a fire pit which makes it an awesome place to chill in the Spring and Fall when it’s a little cooler. You can catch a live show next door, but it’s mostly local bands, and I’m not up with the local scene anymore. If that’s your thing though, it’s a great place to watch them. In my experience so far, half the bartenders have been great while the other half just don’t seem like they want to be there. That’s always kind of a bummer, but it’s not going to ruin my night, since I didn’t come for them. There’s not a lot of parking, so I suggest grabbing an Über or taking a cab. If you’re looking for a fun place off the beaten path that’s usually happening at night, then this is a very cool and hip spot to be.

This Third Avenue establishment has lost something over the years. No longer able to serve Mikey’s Late Night – as it is gone and the connector refurbished– it kind of lost the neighborhood appeal and now must rely on its venue function. Unfortunetly, I find Woodland’s space to be below average for concerts. The clientelle is students basically, and other young professionals. It’s not exactly like campus, with the nieve and Columbus inexperienced; it’s not the fake ID flashing wild undergrad underclassmen, nor the too wild bubbled up hormonal home free tasting the first benifits and dangers of freedom, but the more toned down and Ctown savy older type. So venue lovers older than 30 can feel right in. It has a nice patio. If you have never been there it is in a more archetectually mature block of Grandview so the scene from it has sone charm. More spacey than it seems from the street, they also light beautiful fire pits when the weather is down. The inside has two sections for music. The main section is normal tavern with bar, tables, and a stage tucked beside the entrance. It is kind of hard to enjoy bands from the bar as you must look across through the entrance path. They have a second larger room that seems ripe for dancing. Not a lot of tables in here, and weirdly, must of them were reserved the night I came, that was after paying a cover to enter. There is a bar in that room too but it wasn’t maned. So my party sat at a table on the side. Drink choices were average for Grandview, the service was good. There was little energy in the air. Now I was suffering from the killer sinus from hell which could explain me, but it didn’t seem like anyone else was energetic either; the place was not festive. I think a lack of proper event management was to blame. It had been a few since the visited before last; it may had been an off night, or maybe it has lost a step. My last visit didn’t seem that fun.

An ok place, but it’s crowded and understaffed. I would go here to drink and listen to music, but not for food. It took forever to get a server to take an order, and even longer to get said food. Pretty sure it was one server for all of the floor tables since it was a weeknight. Since Mikey’s parted ways with them, the food we did get was just ok, not really worth the wait. The sound for their live music was awful, they need to invest in some better house speakers. But the problem could be that people ignore the music and talk really loud which drowns out the music. Parking wasn’t great, had to park about a quarter mile up one of the side streets.

Such a fun place for some good live music. Great service here, everyone is always friendly. You can always catch some good live shows, and they have a huge front patio.

Super cool place to see music acts in the second, smaller room. We went to an intimate show on Saturday, to see Charlie Mars. They seat around 60, I am guessing, and he did a meet and greet after. Their happy hour extends to Saturdays and ends at 8, so we were able to get there early enough for special drink prices. I need to update folks on the pizza situation. Mikey’s is no longer there, but you can order from Grandad’s down the street and they’ll deliver to you personally.

Been here before to see… Mike Foley do stand-up. It was standing room only that night. Second time saw local Colin Gawel. Great show and a good beer. Of course we had to get a couple of slices of pizza. We will be back.

Wodlands is my new home. I had heard about it for months & didn’t go, and I am sad I didn’t. I went at 4pm on a Friday to really savor happy hour before others got off work & I was pleased. The bartender was very nice & recommended lots of good beers. He also talked to us about Mikey’s Late Night, which I haven’t had much of being new to Columbus. We left fat and happy.

One of my favorite stops in Columbus. Whether it be the final stop after a night on the town or the random weeknight, Woodlands rarely disappoints. It is the constant friend that happens to have cold beer and pizza waiting for you. What’s not to love? It is the ideal location for happy hour with daily specials, live music, and Mikey’s Late Night Slice. The up-to-date website provides all the info you need. On a good night, it is sometimes a struggle to get to the bar and can get pretty crowded. But, I guess that means people know what’s up! Weasel your way through the masses and you will find happiness. It is called HAPPY hour after all!

A great local spot in Grandview to catch some good live music and grab a drink. They always have a great selection on tap, and with craft drinks $ 2 a piece on Monday funday… it can’t be beat! To top it all off they have a Mikeys Late Night Slice inside for your munchie needs. The patio outside is huge and always has a warm fire roaring to keep you warm.

Fair selection of beers and great happy hour specials! The crew and I came here a friday afternoon for their 3 dollar draft beers and some deeeeelicious Late Night Slice and we were in bliss. When we first got there the place was fairly empty but it soon crowded up once it hit 5pm. The live music that ensued was surely an added plus. And so one beer came after the next and soon we were having a ball. Take homes: 1. There is an outdoor patio so enjoy it when the weather is nice. 2. Pool table in the back if that’s your thing. 3. Live music, I think most nights. 4. $ 3.00 crafts Friday happy hours. Yums 5. Mikey’s late night. 6. Parking on side streets are free. Beware of parking in the lot before 6pm

Ok, so I still love Woodland’s for what it is. They still bring great music acts, they have an awesome patio, and a fantastic beer list. So I’m not going to knock ‘em down a star. On my most recent visit(and it had been a while since I’d been) they had a cocktail menu out on the tables, which included a «Barrel-Aged Manhattan» made with Watershed bourbon. Yummo– lemme get one of those. But a few sips in, and I realized it just tasted like syrup! So I went back to the bartender and asked about it. So– the cocktail is NOT barrel-aged. The bourbon is. DUH! Bourbon is all barrel-aged. Very misleading to list a cocktail as being barrel aged simply because it includes bourbon. I aske dher to give me just some bourbon on the rocks instead. And while I assume she is not the creator of the cocktail menu, I shared my thoughts with her. Anywho– they also changed around the patio a bit, and added more restrooms in the front room, which is helpful for sure.

I’m not a regular at Woodlands, but I am most definitely a fan… Woodlands is a great local bar that does really amazing community events. I’ve been to Columbus Soup & Bread(not to be confused with Columbus SOUP), Columbus Songwriters Association, and many other great events there. I firmly believe when you put good out in the world, you get good back. The scene here really isn’t my thing – I’m just not a Grandview boy – but that’s just fine. I’m still always more than happy to come out to Woodlands. The staff is really friendly, they have cider on tap, the prices are reasonable, and the space is fairly large. Oh, and they have a Mikey’s inside! If you’re in Grandview and really love the local music scene, you will totally dig Woodlands.
