Best Haircut in Pennsylvania. I walked in had no appointment and He took his time and made sure all was perfect before I left. Great music great view and I am definitely going back for my 2nd cut. I been to mostly every barber shop in Collegeville, Norristown, Pheonexville, and Philly this barber is by far the best. I just found my new barber and I recommend him to anyone

Just moved here from South Phila. Experienced a few failed attempts to get a good cut in the Norristown area. I saw this shop as I drove by one day after picking my son up from Football practice. Looked it up on Unilocal to see what people thought. Went there last night. All the reviews are legit. Steve’s cuts are on point! He takes his time, he’s friendly, he listens to your requests and his price is the best around for the service. AROZ D. gave the shop a «Negative» review bc Steve uses a straight razor to ensure you have a sharp outline. I Love It! At your request Steve will use the straight razor. No one in this area uses a straight razor anymore. So thanks to AROZ D’s negative, 1 star rated review, I’m a permanent customer of Steve’s shop.

I’ve been in the area for a few years now and The American Barber Company is the only place I’ll get my hair cut. Steve is the best. It’s a one man shop and a lot of people like his work, so understand that you may end up waiting. While some find this annoying, I view it as a testament to Steve and although a line may be forming, he won’t rush through your cut to get the next guy in the chair. The warm lather straight razor trim at the end of the cut is a nice touch. While you’re waiting, sit down, relax and enjoy the awesome music that’s always playing. It spans multiple genres and you’ll hear artists that span from Ella Fitzgerald to the Avett Brothers to Queen all in the same visit. I always end up Shazaming something new while I’m waiting!

Excellent service, very nice. Little wait, but walked in at a busy time. It was New Year’s Eve. Plenty of current newspapers and magazines to read though. Was able to get a perfect 1920’s haircut. Knew exactly what I wanted. Straight razor used for edging and neck. Very nice décor, lots of antiques and such. Good music playing as well. Only cost $ 12 Highly recommended!

Great spot for a fair priced, old-school style haircut. Steve always has great music playing which helps pass the time while you’re waiting. The one downfall is his schedule doesn’t always coincide with what’s posted on the door. I tend to wake up one day and think ‘I need a haircut today’. Unfortunately, there’s been a number of times where I show up and he’s closed, while the times on his door say otherwise. You can try to call ahead, but the phone just rings and rings regardless if he’s there or not.

I love going to this place. It’s normally crowded on Saturdays, but it’s never a big deal. Steve always has great music playing and plenty of reading material around. I’ve gone to shops around the area and have had a few decent cuts, but Steve’s cuts are ALWAYS good. This is the only barber shop I’m going to for as long as I live in this area.

This place is great! Steve is so good with my son when he cuts his hair. Steve has been cutting my sons hair for the last two years. My son is 5 now. I live in Harleysville and drive all the way to Steve because its worth it! Steve if you’re reading this thank you for being so good with Nick. YOU’RETHEBEST!

Went there a while back to check him out. Only other barber shop in town is Stagliano’s and when my favorite barber left there, I had to look elsewhere. The place seems to be open/closed at the whim of the owner, plus the owner seems to truly be a jerk. Not to me personally, but I’ve seen him be one to numerous other people/other local business owners. Not sure the back story there. My haircut was average at best, but what really made it horrible was that when I looked at the mirror when he was done, for some reason completely unknown to me, he used the short razor to «outline» my hairline. Now, you must understand that I’m a white guy. I’m 40 years old and in all my years, I’ve never had a barber do that when cutting my hair. They do it around your ears/back of neck etc., but he did it along the front, as what made it horrible, was that he did it much higher than my natural hairline. It just looked awful. You could see where he took too much hair off and my skin was whiter than the rest and then when it grew back it was all stubbly and weird. I’ve only ever seen that done in black barbershops, on black guys, so I don’t know what he was thinking, as I’m clearly a white guy. Anyways, I have never been back and won’t. Found my old barber from Stagliano’s, over in Phonenixville, and now going to him.

Great old school vibe, very reasonable prices. Only 1 chair active at a time, so it can get a bit busy when nearby Ursinus college students are in town.

Way better than Stagliano’s. Plays good tunes and there are plenty of interesting reading materials to peruse while waiting. The actual haircut is great, although I don’t need a fancy cut or anything. One big beef, and the reason for the two star rating: The guy is unreliable as far as being open. The only day that I can get a haircut is on a Saturday and I have been by MULTIPLE times on multiple Saturdays(both in the morning and in the afternoon) only to find that he was closed during what was posted as his business hours. GETWITHITDUDE!

As a non-metro guy, I’m always looking for a solid affordable haircut. I hate paying $ 30+ for a cut at a salon and I hate going to chains like Hair Cuttery, where they have been known to gouge chunks of my hair out leaving embarrassing bald spots. I had been a customer of Stagliano’s, but I really needed to find a new place. My 18-month-old son wailed his head off every time we went into Stagliano’s and the chatter between the barbers and their regulars was annoying. My barber only really talked to me when he was asking me to vote for his wife in a local election. The American Barber Company opened not too long ago and I hadn’t had a chance to check it out until recently. The décor is best described as retro eclectic haircare. They have some very cool antiques and random knickknacks to keep the eyes and mind busy while waiting or sitting in the chair. The cut is spot on. The old-school warm foam straight razor edging is awesome. The barber is personable and not pushy. To top it all off, my son calmed down very quickly after initially being upset in the chair. He got a great cut and didn’t wail the whole time like at the old barber. I highly recommend this place for a solid trim and a great atmosphere.
