food was great. service was horrible. the owner himself served us and he did a horrible job. no waters delivered to the table. no check ups throughout the meal. in the end he didn’t bring us our check, he had left the restaurant! we had to ask one of the ladies in the kitchen to check us out.

Owner was very RUDE, he was our waiter and paid minimal attention to us. Kitchen staff was a lot more friendly and courteous. The food and the kitchen staff would be the only reason why we would return.

Stopped off after a noisy evening at an Art Opening looking for a Mexican restaurant that served seafood and found this heading north on Clark. The place was empty however the atmosphere was inviting and we took a chance. Good decision as our server was so sweet and accommodated my diet restrictions. Food was good, priced right and the place was clean. Will be coming back!

The patio here is a hidden gem in an otherwise bustling area of north Clark street. The shrimp tacos were good and the service was super friendly(could have been the sleeping baby we had with us). It was byob last time we were there so double check. Prices were on par for the area and we will be back since we live in the area.

The whole Red Snapper or Perch cooked with Garlic and white wine is to die for. The crispy tacos are really good too. Shrimp and fillets of fish are good also, for people who can’t handle the whole fish. Best place for a very reasonable seafood meal in Rogers Park.

Meh. This place is incredibly close to my apartment, but id rather go out of my way to avoid it most days. Their tacos are pretty expensive($ 3 and honestly pretty tiny). I can go to any of the other billion taquerias on Clark for the same quality but usually cheaper and larger. I will give them credit for their carne asada though – delicious! Horchata was not impressive at all. Added alcohol to it when I got home to make it more bearable(it worked!) Waited a pretty long time at the place for our tacos, probably upwards of 30 minutes. I’d definitely suggest calling ahead if you’re going for take out. Not that big of a deal though, everything tasted really fresh when we got home so they probably just had a lot of deliveries or something. That being said, I’ll probably skip this place next time I have a craving for tacos.

UPDATE: I called to order the chicken soup, since it’s not bad. NOT great, but decent. Last time they forgot my tortillas. Now it is supposed to come with 5 of them. You can make tacos out of the chicken, etc. THe lady forgets them, i call, she agrees to give me a free steak taco on my next order. TODAY Was that order. DID I GETIT? OFCOURSENOT, I got the bitter owner who just likes to argue and even admits to NOTHAVINGTOKEEP«HERWORD», since he didn’t agree to it. THENHE says, ok, you can have a free CHICKEN taco. I DON“T WANT a CHICKENTACO. HONORYOURWORD. NOMATTERHOWGOODURFOODUSEDTOBE, THEFACTTHATYOUHAVENOIDEAOF ‘KEEPINGYOURWORD’ I WILLNOTRETURN. I HATEWHENBUSINESSESHAVE B. S OWNERS. HERUINEDITFORME. what a jerk OLDER: I should have learned my lesson the first time. Their chicken soup could be sooo good one day and then another like they warmed up leftovers from 2 days ago. Like actually the chicken tasted older. I wish i could say… Make it like u did the first time, geez! Today i called in to order a late lunch. It was 2:56, AND i knew Lunch ended at 3pm. I order my lunch special and the lady replies in broken English that lunch is over at 3pm. I tell her it is 2:56, and she tells me that it is 3:05. So not only do they have«not so great food», but They cannot even honor their own policies and were so petty on that lunch ended that I had to share this. THEFOODHEREISGETTINGLESSANDLESSTASTY. THEYARESLACKING, or buying cheaper ingredients, OR hired a different cook. I have no idea, but Now I am avoiding them for awhile. So disappointing.

I used to love coming to this place to enjoy their garden seating in the back. I remember the food being a lot better back then. I had the shrimp fajitas today. There was no flavor on the shrimp. Bland and disappointing. I had to pay extra for avocado and sour cream, which usually comes with fajitas at other places. The highlights were the beans and rice that were pretty good. The tortillas were fresh and hot, though a little small. This dish was so bland though even with salsa, avocado, sour cream, peppers, and onions. Even the peppers had no flavor. No seasoning at all. 18 dollars later and I felt like I over payed for something I could have gotten at taco bell but would have had more flavor. There are so many more options for Mexican food in Rogers Park, I would not chose this one again. Mexican food with no flavor? That’s what I call inauthentic.

I’ve been here several times to sit in the nice outdoor garden. Normally it’s in the Spring or after a spell of really bad weather, like this past winter. Someone really does put quite a bit of work into that garden and it’s the closest place to my home that has Mexican food with outdoor seating. To get outside you walk through to the back of the place past the cash register and turn right and out the door. There are a few tables set up on a concrete pad, then a few more scattered through the garden area. It’s a city lot so the view is of other houses and garages but it doesn’t take away from being there. Many times ours has been the only group out there, or maybe one of two or three. At times that has affected the service since it’s a pain for the waitstaff to come out there but it’s never been bad enough to avoid sitting outside. They are certainly friendly enough and bring huge cups of ice water probably to avoid having to refill often, good idea. The food is decent. They serve two salsas on the table with tortilla chips. Not the best I’ve had but not bad at all. I usually get shrimp quesadillas here and they’re quite good. They are served with rice and beans. The servings are quite large, you could easily make two meals of them. Most everything is under $ 10. If you want to sit outside and have decent Mexican food in a nice garden check it out!

We went today 6÷20÷14 Let me tell you that the service is horrible! We went in, got the menus and then sat there for 20 minutes! While the ladies chit chatted in the back… Then finally the owner saw that we were getting frustrated so he told his waitress to come attend us. We ordered our food, I got the veggie burrito which was pretty good with their green sauce. Now my partner got the the shrimp volcan with hot sauce… Yeah it was horrible it had no seasoning it tasted as if the cool just dumped some hot sauce on top of it and this is a $ 14 plate. Yeah so not worth it. Anyway. We waited for our check for about 30 minutes. Given the fact that the owner and his son were sitting next to us. The waitress never stopped by and asked us how we were doing or if we needed anything else… So I waited and finally I got fed up and I went to the register and I complained how we’ve been waiting half hour and how no one has came to our table. I also complained about the food… The owner said not to charge us for it which was good! But we think they might have a new cook. Because the dodo is not good And the service sucks! Will never go there again!

Terrible service. I waited an hour for three tacos. The server never came by to refill my drink. The food and service earned one star. They get a second star for tuning all tv’s to the Cubs game.

Okay. Remember how I said the service was awkward? Here’s what I mean. Was here last Saturday, which used to be a good day to go. Waitress was friendly, don’t get me wrong, but so much was off: 1. It was freezing in there(always is) so I ordered hot tea. The water she used was lukewarm and was from the coffee pot that had probably been turned off for at least 20 minutes. 2. We both ordered waters in addition to our tea /Coke. Only my husband got his. 3. We ordered a tamale, and she asked us if we wanted green or red sauce. We decided on green. Tamale came… no sauce. And she never brought it. 4. There were no utensils. And when we asked for them, you almost got the sense that we were asking for something extra. And this kind of thing is pretty common there. We used to really like going on Saturdays, because the Saturday server had the best track record. She must have been off that day, or maybe she no longer works there. See what I mean? The service is very spacey. Maybe they’re not used to people dining in? I don’t know. Still love their tacos, though, and will likely go again when we’re in the neighborhood in a few weeks.

My wife, who is Mexican, and I have picked this place as our go-to taco place. She is usually a lot pickier than I with this cuisine of food and rightfully so. There isn’t anything special about the place but the steak tacos mexican style are glorious! The reason I give 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is as follows: The workers do not offer any type of friendly behavior, you MUST phone ahead and add 5 or 10 minutes to the estimated time. When you call and order a pickup, do not expect a thank you or any type of salutation. A hang up sound will be all you hear. They also require a $ 10 purchase to use credit card, which I find very annoying and usually just add a few Jarritos to the order. Overall, we still use this place due to the lack of great quality nearby as we have tried and failed with many other options.

They are actually open @ 10 am, which is good BC I needed saving from my hunger induced rage that the auto parts store next does did not sell auto parts. The chicken taco lunch special fixed me up– Fresh food. Well prepared. Fast. Cost effective. Ladies Bathroom report 7 out of 10: no frills but Very clean. Large & Nicely tiled.

My wife and I order here at least once a week. I dig their restaurant, and they have never messed up our pick-up order(probably just jinxed it). I also am a big fan of their red and green salsas. The red is a bit spicy, but the green is just right. I have noticed that the veggies they use(tomato, lettuce, cilantro, onion) are always fresh and crisp, which definitely sets them apart from just any taqueria in the neighborhood. Tostadas: excellent and huge! Tacos: outstanding(get crispy!) Chile Rellenos: meh, skip it Burritos: very tasty and very filling Chorizo: a little over-seasoned Carne asada: tender and juicy, if a little on the fatty side Beans and rice: decent My only gripe: no carnitas :-(

Mexican Food and Old Style… Hell yes!!! I was a bit leery when I saw the menu was loaded with fish entrees. As most of you know, I hate fish. My mind was put at ease when I saw that La Cazuela offers meat options as well. Everything my Wife and I ordered was delicious. Here’s the breakdown. *Supreme Nacho’s: Loaded to the nines with Guacamole, marinated beef, cheese and veggies. It was a meal in itself. *Carne Asada Burrito: Beautifully marinated steak and fresh ingredients. This football sized Burrito was fabulous. *Chorizo Taco: I’m quite aware how bad Chorizo is for a lipitor popping, old fart like me. But I can’t help myself. I love it. This taco was bursting with flavor. Here’s the delicious bottom line on La Cazuela. Everything I tasted was fresh, delicious and beautifully prepared. We both I ate like kings for $ 20.00. As my lovely Wife always says, «It beats a sharp stick in the eye»
