They had this sign up without a time of when they left… And so I went to the store for 10 minutes. Came back and a few other people were there waiting. They told me they had been waiting 40 minutes. They said the store owner was «praying» and they lied about the time they would be back, that they do it every day.

This store is a joke. Filled with delinquents who are full of it. Do not buy anything from this location save your self the time and go to another GNC or perhaps buy online. Very rude people who do not know how to deal with customers. Forget trying to return anything to them. Policy says return within 30 days more like never. I will never shop from any GNC EVER AGAIN!!! If you do go into GNC don’t let them tell you what’s good for you. Know in advanced, they will sell you things you do not need. Don’t be fooled. They just any to sell bogus products that don’t work.

Went back because vitamin shopp was closed and i had another back experience AGAIN ! The man is incompetent and gnc should replace, i never see anyone in that store, its just a matter of time before they close down this location

I am a loyal GNC customer. I am a gold card member and shop at GNCs around Cook County weekly. I will NEVER – EVER – return to this GNC. I came in to make a purchase straight from the gym. I was wearing a baseball cap and a sweatshirt to cover up my law enforcement work out shirt. The clerk kept following me around the store. I heard the customer at the counter exclaim, «You’re so busy racially profiling that woman at the shelf you can’t even wait on me. I’m leaving.» It was 1972 kind of racial profiling. I put all of my items on his counter, showed him my law enforcement tee shirt and walked out… after confronting him about the racial profiling. I am telling all of my friends. DO NOT SHOP THERE. I will not give anyone my money who has so blatantly disrespected me.

Rude store manager, equivalent to a used car salesman. Prepared to pick up some items but couldn’t support such a sleezy person, will never return to this location!

We have been customers for a couple of years. Each time we go here, it’s an unpleasant experience. It’s close to our house and next to our grocery store so we’ve always just put up with it. The man who owns the store always acts like he’s trying to save a burning building — talking fast and walking fast to no end. The funny part is, you’d think someone like that would be effective but yet each day that passes he’s chipping away at GNC’s good brand reputation.
About a year back he talked my boyfriend into buying an additional product. My boyfriend didn’t really want it but because this man is so darn persistent he agreed to purchase it. Seems fine, right? Except the owner rang the transaction and didn’t actually even have the product in store! My boyfriend was upset and the man kept telling him «no worries, my friend. I’ll have it tomorrow». My boyfriend doesn’t own a car so you can imagine how annoying this was to be talked into a product that he wouldn’t be walking out with. After a few attempts to get this product he eventually gave up, forfeiting the $ 30.
That brings me to our current situation. We purchased protein powder as buy 1 get one ½ off. There was only one on the shelf but the man assured me he had the other one. He rang me up and just when I expected him to go to the back room to get the other protein, he starts to circle the 2^nd powder and write «Paid» on the receipt. He said, «You can come back and pick it up.» I confronted him and told him he made it seem like he had the product in the store. He tried to downplay it and promised he’d have it the next day. I was not happy as this is how he typically works and he took advantage knowing I wanted the product right then and there. He says again, «no worries, my friend». The next day was a holiday and I did not have time to go back plus I barely even believed him when he said it. I thought, here we go again.
Trip one back to the store… they don’t have it in yet (a week later).
Trip two back to the store… the NEON sign says «OPEN» BUT the door is locked with a sign hanging up «Be back in 15 minutes». I left frustrated because I don’t trust that it will be 15 minutes.
Trip three back to the store… they don’t have it again. The sales person apologized profusely. I told the sales person that I do not understand how this guy stays in business. The sales person agreed with me and let me know that it’s always like this. I could sense the frustration with the associate and it was apparent that this happens a lot.
Trip four back to the store… still no product. I told the owner that it’s exhausting chasing this down. I let him know that he cannot expect to stay in business much longer if he continues this. He apologized but tried to down play it and said, «Let me give you something free» and gives me a protein drink from the fridge. He then says, «Don’t worry — I’ll call you tomorrow» as he walks me to the door. He didn’t even have my name or number… this was confirmation of the false promises I’ve already received.
It’s been three weeks and after four trips I still don’t have what we paid for. I was going to wait to write the review until I finally got it thinking I may be jinxing myself. I have a feeling it’s probably going to be $ 50 down the drain, not to mention the frustration we’ve already experienced going there so many times.
If you look on the wall and by the register there are PILES of appears with names and numbers of people he needs to call when he gets their product in. WHAT A MESS. Even when he calls the other stores it appears they hang up on him. He’s too much and I don’t think anyone should shop here.
I’d advise you to go elsewhere. He may take your money and not have the product and he’s too darn annoying and hard headed to even reason with after. He often gets product from the Roosevelt and Canal store. You might as well just make that your first stop and avoid all of the guaranteed issues you’ll face here.

I wish I could give this place negative stars! I went in a couple weeks ago to return since items I bought at another location… the guy came from the back after about 10 minutes screaming helllooo and what do u want. Wtf! I showed him the receipt and the items and he starts jabbering about the system being down and he can’t do it. How he’s on the phone tech support now (total lie btw). Fast forward to today… I go back bc maybe the mysterious equipment malfunction has been corrected. Alas no. Somehow, he’s been able to make sales transactions for weeks, but when my husband comes with the return… it must be allergic to returns smh. He’s screaming again, which wouldn’t be so bad if his accent wasn’t so heavy that we could only understand every other word! Neve go here !!! He treats you like a thief, or an idiot… not a paying, livelihood providing customer.

I wouldn’t shop in this place if they were giving product away for 70% off. My husband and I went in to get something to detox the system. When we walked in this rude guy comes out from the back eating food and yelling something inaudible. He tries to force us to buy the product he wanted us to buy, and when we told him what we wanted it for he said he wasn’t gonna sell us anything. He isn’t in a position to make a judgement on who buys what. He was so condescending. What a jerk!

Wish I would’ve read the other reviews before going here, I’d give it 0 stars if at all possible. –4 stars.
Walked in, I could hear someone yelling loudly on the phone in the back, so I looked for what I wanted but I couldn’t find it. I made a little noise so he’d hear me and come out, but no luck. Waited a bit longer, made some more noise. Finally, there he is, he comes out– still on the phone– and says, with this condescending sneer on his face, «My friend customer, please, look around!» Then he goes to the register, faces away from me, and keeps talking on the phone.
Okay… I have been looking around… but I waste another couple minutes just to make sure I’m not missing what I’m looking for, then go around to the register. He sneers at me again then says on the phone, «I must go, I’ll call you back, I have to help my ‘dear friend’ this ‘customer’.» He’s practically spitting the words at me, and I kinda feel like just walking out right now… but I ask him if they have what I’m looking for, a product I’ve gotten at GNCs plenty of times.
First, he ignores me and looks at the shopping bags I’m holding (I came from Jewel). «Put those bags down, friend. Put them down.» «Uh, no thanks, I don’t mind holding them.» He raises his eyebrow at me and says, «Oh, fine, you comfortable holding them, you comfortable, sure.» What the hell?
I ask him again for my product and he tells me he’s never heard of it, then asks what I’m trying to do. «It’s a mass gainer, I’m not interested in other products, I like this one. All I want to do is buy that product.» Then he goes from «never heard of it» to «it’s out of stock,» and then a minute later «it’s discontinued.» Uh, I can buy it online, I just wanted to avoid the wait and the shipping.
«Well, I am owner of store,» he says, «and we don’t have that.» He’s giving me the most condescending sneer he can manage now, and at this point I wouldn’t have taken what I was looking for if it was free. I walked out and I am never going back.
I’d recommend going anywhere else or shopping online before you have to resort to actually coming to this store. If that really is the owner, this store should be closed. It was bad enough to make me look into alternatives to GNC and I’ve found some better deals elsewhere, so you probably can too.

worst store in the world; no wonder no one’s ever there. the employee is definitely not qualified to work there — after I asked him questions about «prenatal vitamins» he asked «what are you trying to accomplish?» are you serious?
the larger man who appears to be the manager is so rude and ridiculous I wish I read the other reviews to the store! after I asked for GNC corporate’s number, he wrote it down so slobby and threw the pen down, I gave him a piece of my mind. what happened to customer service nowadays? DON’T GO THERE!

Horrible experience here.
Barely walked through the door before the owner yelled at me to wipe my feet on «CARTON CARTON.» Later realized he meant «cardboard.»
I couldn’t even look at any of the products without being harassed! My friend and I felt extremely uncomfortable the entire time we were there. So much we had to ask the owner over 10 times to give us some space and at least a minute to look at the products. After that the owner showed so much attitude towards us we said screw it and walked out.
DO NOT GO HERE.

Went here once, I tend to order online but meh, I was out so why not.
The guy working there was really funny, and helpful. He informed me I was using the wrong products for the results I wanted. He showed me something that would help and didn’t taste like chalk then gave me a discount.
Awesome place.
No 5 stars because he is a little creepy.

Frank «I geeve you 50% off!» GNC employee was quite the character and quite helpful when we dropped in today. Normally we go to the one in Ogilvie, but we were in the area after getting an oil change at Jiffy Lube on Western Ave. and decided to stop by here and at the Jewel next door.
Even though it wasn’t the «discount week» which is usually the first week of the month, he honored by GNC card and the 20% off which was really nice.
I don’t know if I’ll be back since it’s not near me, but I definitely give props to Frank and his generosity.

Thank God for Leah’s review. I thought I was losing my mind after leaving this horrid place… this place is creepy beyond belief.
First of all, let me explain something: I am the easiest GNC customer in the entire world. I basically walk-​in, open my wallet and walk out with Protein. That’s about it. No fuss, no muss… Until this GNC.
I walked into the GNC because it was close to work and I proudly bore an online coupon that was valid AT ALL STORES (I capitalize for emphasis on an important aspect of this story). The creepy manager was there and I ask him nicely to point me to the direction of the protein that is alluded to on the coupon. He looks at it and basically tells me that I’m an idiot and that it’s not a real coupon, but that he’ll show me the protein that he has… cuz he’sTHAT nice of a guy. I showed him the coupon again and read it to him, whereby he gives me a «Please just shut up and give me money» look and says that he does not participate in sales, but that he’ll accept this coupon this time.
So. Here’s where I realize that
.crazy. I kindly explained to him that I wanted my coupon back – that there were PLENTY of GNCs in the world and that he didn’t need to do me any favors. He screams at me that he wants to sell me protein; why don’t i want to buy protein? he has protein! buy my protein!!!
I walked out. Please stay away from this place. Just like fish in the sea, there are plenty of GNCs in this world to spend your money at.
