This is one of my favorite neighborhood bars. The manager(Josh) and bartenders(Randi, Kyle, Jade, and Matt) are friendly and just want you to have a good time! The drinks are always flowin’ and the food is always delish, love their wings. I def recommend this spot if your lookin’ for a casual spot during the week or a crazy night out on the weekends.

Went to this place on a Friday night. Despite being a sports bar and not a club, the music was so unbelievably loud that you can’t hear anyone around you. Doesn’t make sense for a bar with this kind of atmosphere– ie, tables to sit around with a group. You want to be able to at least have a conversation without literally screaming. The place was also filled with just some of the worst people. Unfriendly, wasted sports bros who give you a dirty look when you ask for them to move slightly so you can make your way through the narrow, overcrowded room. Food’s okay, though it seems to have dipped in quality. If you go during off-peak hours you might not have a bad time, but otherwise, prepare yourself for a noisy, overcrowded bro-fest.

Stopped in here after a show for drinks with friends on a recent Friday night. Kind of a cute place inside, I thought. Went up to the bartender and ordered a whiskey and ginger ale. He asked, «what kind of whiskey?» I usually get Crown Royal, but knowing that a lot of places don’t have it, I asked for Jack Daniels. My boyfriend asked for the same. Now, this drink is not hard to mess up, what with its 2 ingredients, but this was THE. WORST. DRINK. WE’VE. EVER. HAD. EVER. Absolutely undrinkable. One of our friends tried it and immediately couldn’t believe his taste buds. I don’t know what was in that glass, but it definitely wasn’t Jack Daniels. Not sure if there was residue from the glass being washed or not, but the whiskey was not a brand name. It didn’t taste like ginger ale was mixed with it either(whatever it was, it was also very FLAT). My boyfriend dumped his in the bathroom, I left mine on the table, with less than an inch consumed. Not only did we not get what we ordered(our other friends had beer… best choice in this establishment), but the drinks were $ 7.50 and when my boyfriend got change back, the bartender said, «I only charged you $ 7.00 as I don’t have any quarters. Your next one will be $ 8.00». Ummm, what? Excuse me, but the fact that you don’t have quarters is YOUR problem, not mine. The ONLY nice thing about our experience was the server who came by our table to check on us a few times. She was sweet, nice, efficient and brought my boyfriend a beer. Other than that, there is NOTHING good about this place. Shame on you, Four Shadows for trying to slip us something other than Jack Daniels. Some people DO know what certain spirits taste like. This is my first 1 star review and I hope my last.

Four Shadows is local bar between west Lincoln Park and Roscoe Village located on Ashland and Diversey. My apartment is on the same block, so I have been able to come quite often. They have a pretty surprising variety of food for a bar: Salads, pizzas, wraps, burgers, tacos, etc, and everything I have tried has been pretty good. My first visit I had the southwestern burger and it was cooked perfectly and the toppings went really well with it. My next visit I came for taco Tuesday, they have a few different tacos for $ 3 each, wow, so surprised they were actually delicious, and they had good beer specials. I also came here for my Birthday and they were so accommodating, It was one of those nights were the weather was shitty and we didn’t know if 4 people or 40 people would show up. We started with a smaller table and then people kept tricking in until we had the full 2ish people, and each stage, the staff was really helpful in moving tables together and getting chairs and everyone was able to order and get what they wanted in a timely manner. Also we didn’t have any of that awkward end of the night«what did you order» hot mess bill fight. They were pretty organized. My latest visit I had some guy friends in town and we came here to watch a game, drink and eat, I had the Cesar wrap, pretty good, and the boys ordered burgers, no complaints. Only negatives– every time I come in, you have to pay extra for chips and salsa, but the chips are always freezing cold and stale. Also the majority of times I’ve been in, there are only 1 or 2 people working, so it can get hectic when they have multiple tables. Other than that, it’s a cool local place and I’ll keep being a regular.

This is a great Iowa bar. The location pretty much sucks– it’s really far from the L stop so we typically take a cab. We’ve been here for several Iowa games but I wouldn’t ever come here for a normal weekend. The entertainment is always awesome during Hawekeye games! Last time we were there they were playing throwback 90s music videos during commercials. They typically hand out some type of door gift if you get there early before a game– usually a cheap shot glass or koozie. The halftime raffle is the highlight. Again, they give out a bunch of cheap stuff that you don’t want anyways. The coveted prize is the dog bowl — free beer for the rest of the game, but yes, you have to drink it out of the dog bowl. Note: you must be wearing Iowa gear to win a prize — and the main guy will call you out on the microphone if you’re not! The food is just okay(what you’d expect at a sports bar) but the loaded tater tots are amazing!

We did have them cancel our delivery order about 40 minutes after placing it on a weeknight that was super no bueno but the food and and staff have always been so over-the-top awesome, we chalked it up to a singular bad night. Every single other time we’ve ordered, we’ve had A++++ food and piping hot even in the dead of winter. The potato soup, Southwestern burger and steak sandwiches are our favorites!

Four Shadows is truly a hidden gem. It’s never overly packed, but always a great time. the music is always on point. josh and the gang make sure they’re playing what you want to hear! The food is also AMAZING. Brunch, dinner — great options any time of the day. They also have drinking jenga and other fun games to play at the bar. Definitely a spot to keep coming back to.

I took my parents here while they were in visiting me in Chicago for the day. The were playing the colts game and it was important that my dad could watch the game so we went here. The food was ok but there were out of certain beers and liquids and our server didn’t know much about things like beers on tap, menu items etc. Not a horrible experience but no need to go back.

This used to be a fave of mine, then just over a year or so ago this place was sold and new ownership/management took over. Slowly but surely the bar had less and less people. The prices went up and food quality went down. WAYDOWNACTUALLY. I overlooked that, but what I can’t overlook is when a homeless person on the street harasses our party through the open windows. Making vulgar comments, disgusting faces and motions that would have had someone in the bar kicked out. Manager said the homeless guy was nothing but a «Stray dog» that is pushed away just keeps coming back, and that he can’t call the police for everything. After an hour, I called police who told me they never get called there by the staff, and that they quickly escorted the rude man away. Sorry, that was the final nail in the coffin. I miss the old owners who now run the all new Commonwealth in Roscoe Village. I will be heading there, not to Four Shadows. Way to ruin a good thing! I will never be back, and suggest you choose another place to frequent as there are many other places that actually provide a good value, service and want a good environment for their customers.

We’ve ordered from Four Shadows multiple times. There has been a couple mistakes but nothing major. Tonight, however, was a different story. We were delivered(through the Chow Now app) the wrong burger. We called and were told that we were responsible for contacting Chow Now to get a refund and we would then have to place the order again(so we would be paying in full for their error). This was a mistake on Four Shadows’ part– not ours. Reasonably frustrated, it took us 4 phone calls to both the restaurant and Chow Now for a refund. Chow Now also told us this isn’t protocol– the restaurant was responsible for fixing the error. Go to hell, Katie.

Looking for cold, disgusting, bar food? Shitty service? If you feel like eating gross food and getting really sick from it, then Four Shadows Tavern is your best bet. I ordered the Honey Mustard Wrap and the Yukon Potato Soup… I ate half of the cold wrap because I was starving and got sick. Made me throw up everywhere. I can not speak to the Yukon Potato Soup because they forgot it. When I called to get a refund, I was denied. No reason given. Avoid this place at all costs. Unless of course, you feel like vomiting.

This was the only bar we could actually fit into during one of the Blackhawks finals game. Literally, it was the rain that brought us to this particular establishment. I don’t know how it is usually, but during the game of course it was packed, but it was exciting. I believe this is one of those official Blackhawks bar, so watching the game here was pretty fun. The bartenders were on top of it, and service was quick. My drink was fine, and for the short amount of time we were in there, I enjoyed myself. If I was walking around the area, maybe I would stop in on a quieter day and try some food.

Pros: dispenses large size paper towels in restroom, clean mirror, Blackhawks always win when I watch there Cons: bathroom soap smells weird, Hawkeyes always lose when I watch there

Amazing service, especially considering we came during game 5 of the Stanley Cup. Bartenders were both extremely attentive and friendly. Good food, plenty of TVs. Solid A.

I saw this place while walking to a concert, and then it was the first stop on the way back home when it was canceled — my friend and I were crushed. The large window open windows showcased the damp streets and I could smell the second wave of rain pull in and the bartender closed them. My friend and I told our story of woe to the bartender, and while it rained outside he played a few songs from the artist. He recommended the loaded fries, we added bacon: heaven. Thank you bartender. Your acts of kindness won’t ever be forgotten. TL:DR Decent beer choices, amazing staff(like — that bartender from that Monday night might be a nephilim — so sad that we didn’t get his name), beautiful summer/fall windows, tastey eats, and crunchy tunes. Highly recommend.
