This is your everyday ordinary Mexican restaurant accept for one menu item that really blows it out of the water and takes my review from 3 star to 4 star. That menu item is the Chimichanga. This is fried burrito goodness. The tortilla is fried to a golden crisp and the meat and cheese inside is so damn good. Their regular burritos are, meh, nothing special just like everything else on their menu, but these Chimichanga are a grand slam home run! I only order this item when I come here. The best Chimichanga in Chicagoland is Quesabroso in Hillside, but this place has the second best Chimichanga hands down!

I went here yesterday with a group of seven and no one was satisfied with their lunch meal. I got the caldo de Camaron shrimp soup and it was absolutely tasteless. No seasoning, watered down. Service was awful — - we had to keep asking for water and eating utensils. There were only two other tables occupied so we should have been served quickly but there seemed to be a lot of confusion about how to take care of a table. My friends meals looked unappetizing and portions were small. Will never eat here again and I cannot recommend it.

Great authentic Mexican food made from fresh ingredients that is far superior to Mexican fast food(id. Taco Bell). Only bad thing is that their prices are kind of high to me, and they’ve been raising them steadily over the past few years. To me, paying $ 2.90 for a chicken or beef taco is a little high, but on the other hand, much more worth it than getting the same from Taco Bell. Their dining area is dimly lit and cozy. They do have one large flat screen TV at one end, for those who need some extra entertainment.

i will start off by saying that i live maybe 2 blocks from La Playita so after an evening out with friends we stop into this place or i walk there well i have been going to this place since the 1st day they opened and the food for a while was quite good but has declined since they got rid of their original cook/chef anyways i would go here daily late at night and grab my food and leave but one time i was standing there for 20 – 25 minutes and this mexican kid walked in and said he was in a hurry in spanish(i speak fluent spanish but am white) and they allowed this kid to cut in line and get his order after making me wait all of that time and to add insult to the matter the woman at the register knew me very well since i was a regular customer and i came in there often placing large orders but she decided that it didn’t matter what mattered more that day was«la raza»(the race in english) this kid said basically«come on hook up la raza» and i never returned i will never give them my money again.

Great guacamole! Outdoor seating is a bonus! I had the taco salad, hubby had the streak burrito dinner. Both were tastey. :-)

This is the best place to go anywhere on the Southside. It is worth the 5 minute detour from 294 to stop in. First off, the table salsa is delicious, chunky and fresh. The chips used to be homemade but I guess they fell victim to budget cuts– its not the end of the world, still better than Tostitos. For your meal, I highly recommend the Pork tacos since they’re bbq style and they dont use pineapple. They top them with cilantro and onion to bite through the bbq flavor of the pork, and its phenomenal. The steak tacos are the 2nd best, mostly because the steak is cut fresh right in front of you and its not a bad cut of meat, which is ordinarily the norm at cheap Mexican food joints. The few minutes it took the chef to trim the fat go a long way if you eat Mexican food often. All in all, I really recommend you try this food– its clear that the employees take a few extra minutes during preparation to make sure you DONT get a sinewy, greasy pile of flavorless meat on a mm thick tortilla, and as a patron, I couldn’t be more thankful. Update: Since I wrote this first review, they hired a male waiter who I see pretty consistently now, and he is probably the worst server I’ve ever experienced at any restaurant ever. In addition to him consistently getting the orders wrong, he actually burped at my table once.

I eat here often and always forget to check in. The food is really good. It’s always fresh. The staff is very nice. Especially the older short lady who is typically there in the evenings. Food is really good. No complaints

Best taco joint(and more) in the area. Their steak is cooked to order and always trimmed well. Chips and guacamole are great. In the summer their attached deck is a great place to enjoy your meal surrounded by a pergola and vibrant flowers. All around good spot to get some Mexican food.

Best steak tacos and salsa. Margiritas are tasty. A little pricy but always worth it. Never had a bad meal. They use really fresh food and you can taste it. Order the el pastor tacos, cilantro and onions and you will be hooked

There really is only one reason I eat at this place once in a blue moon. That reason is because they just always screw up my order. The food always tastes great, but I always order with no lettuce, and I always get it. The act of having to peel it off every single time is just annoying. The prices are getting to be a bit on the outrageous side, considering the fact that I never actually get what I want.

Open late and tastes pretty good! Prices are getting a little high for what you’re getting but if you’re in the mood for Mexican you’ll have a good experience. I’ve been going here for years. Very casual and you’ll see the occasional bar hoppers sobering up on burritos late night.

Went here with my girlfriend, I had the steak burrito dinner, and a hard shell taco and she had the carne asada. My burrito was good but it had a lot of lettuce in it, it was more like a lettuce burrito. The taco was really good though. The carne asada was also very good. They waiter was very nice. I would definitely be going back.

Stopped here for an early dinner with my date. a bit of a hole-in-the-wall, but the food was good. She enjoyed her chicken tamales. I got cheese enchiladas mole. Lots of cheese, but the mole was too subtle for my tastes. Service was excellent, and I’d give the food 3.5 stars. We each got a margarita that was very, very weak. I would come here again, but will likely seek out a higher-quality Mexican place for future dates.

Yum… Yum…and more Yum! Went with a group of family and we had a great time. The fajitas and steak and shrimp dinner were amazing! The steak was so tender! The drinks were good… not as strong as I like… but tasty and reasonably priced! The servers were nice and polite! Cant wait to go back for another fiesta!

Good food, reasonably priced, they take orders online, and the pick-up process is a breeze. The owner is a very nice person, as well. No better Mexican food in the area.
