Wayback Burgers

Love me some Chipotle burger! Very clean and prompt, great service particularly Jake. Kids eat free Wednesday nights.

One of my favorite local burger joints. I’ve never been disappointed in the quality of the food, the service has always been exceptional, and the restaurant is always clean. Keep it up, Wayback Cheshire!

I went back against my better judgement, that was my first mistake.
My second mistake was anticipating a slightly better interaction with the staff after receiving a predictable and scripted response from Management after my last visit.
Upon ordering I nearly asked the employee if I had done something wrong. She was disgusted with my family and I for interrupting her Sunday by ordering food at the establishment that employees her. She mumbled and grunted my balance, handed over two cups and looked over my shoulder to take the next victims order. The staff again, was in-​personable to the point of awkwardness, the dining area was a messy with ketchup stained tables, napkins and chairs all about.
TL;DR — save yourself from comically impolite staff and head elsewhere, I’ve already given them three tries so you don’t have too.

I am posting the thread because of the lack of professionalism at this location. I placed an order ONLINE so that way my foodnwould be ready prior to arriving. This is the first time i have placed and order online or at this location for that matter. When i arrive exactly at the time the food was supposed to be done, I walk in to four people standing in front of the counter just talking and hanging out with not in person in the resturant. I tell them im here to pick up my order and they reply with uhhhh oh i didnt even see that we had an online order come through. So now i get to sit here for 20 mins waiting for my food to be prepared because these employees are to busy playing on their smart phones instead of earninf their paycheck. In a hospitaility business you would think after this mistake they would offer you a discount or a free side for your troubles. Nope! Just a simple sorry about that and im on my way. Its obvious these employees did not inform their manager about this situation or i would have recieved a phone call by now since this way last week about the situation and how we can rectify this problem. So now I will spend the remainder of my day making sure everyone knows to stay away from this place on every social thread and food review I can find unless they decide to fix this matter so the rest of you dont have to suffer the same fate I did. Time is money, and apparently these people could care less.

Horrible service! My husband ordered a milkshake with his burger. We were the only ones in the place. As we waited for our order 4 other groups came in (total of 9) people. Our burgers were ready. Went up to the counter four times to ask where the shake was. We were done eating and the server finally brought the milkshake. Oh and a fellow came in, picked up his order which included a shake. And the server had the never to tell us he called in an order. Are you kidding!!! I give this place zero stars if i could. Won’t be going back. They need to train their staff on how to wait on customers.

I am ranking this review based on Location more than franchise. The people behind the counter were very friendly and the service was fast. The tables weren’t the cleanest, but way better than another Wayback location that I have visited. The parking lot is huge and had no issue finding a spot. The atmosphere definitely has that 50’s style burger joint appeal. I will definitely return to this location for these reasons all by them-​self. As far as the franchise, this place still suffers the same issues. The shakes are too small for their price and the taste of the burger meat is not that good (in my opinion). I do not hold this against the place because it is my personal opinion. I hear this is one of the best franchises and the location is so high quality, I will be coming back to try their chicken, fries, and other sides. To this date, this is the best Wayback location that I have been to.

I absolutely love jakes. If I had to choose a favorite, it would be Cheshire, however waterbury is in a close second. I am always satisfied with the service and quality of the food, and I believe that the employees are all great. I have been visiting more and more frequently lately as the service only gets better and better. After a few times calling in the employees began to know my voice and name before I had even ordered, which shows that they are attentive and observant. When I would come to pick up my order I would usually ask for a barbecue on the side, and after a few times the barbecue would already be in the bag without me having to ask. I have never had any kind of issue with food being under or over cooked, with anything being messed up or missing, or with any of the employees. I am always greeted quickly after entering the building and my order is put together expediently. I will be returning to this establishment and I recommend that everyone give it a try as they have much better quality food than G’s, sonic, or any other place that serves burgers in CT, and trust me when I say I have tried them all.

I had been twice before in Hamden going a second time only because I believe a restaurant deserves a second chance (and you can’t eat everything in a menu the first time). It wasn’t very good there and it want any better here. The service was terrible too. With something wrong with everything I ordered the attitude of the workers was quite negative. With what you pay for the onion rings, I would expect a decent sized portion. You’ll see from the posted picture that I got one ring for each dollar… a bit steep. I went back a second time (new location so had to give it a shot). While it would’ve been great to have a great burger locally, I’d rather drive to New Haven or west Hartford.

Most of the time, the food is good. But the service is TERRIBLE. they constantly screw up our orders, interrogate you when you come back and ask for missing items.(ex. Honey mustard for chicken fingers you picked up 2 minutes earlier) and are just plain old rude. We have yet to have a pleasant experience dealing with the employees of this restaurant. Seems like a bunch of kids with poor training/​customer service skills. I imagined this place to be better than McDonald’s but I’ll tell ya, the McDonald’s across the street couldn’t treat its customers with any more respect, they are always a pleasure. So disappointing considering cheshire doesn’t have many options for quick food.
