I had to leave fixing my hair myself, and tie it in a bun. I originally asked for Sylvia, but was told she doesn’t work on Mondays. So I took whoever was available. Worst mistake ever! If a hair stylist can not tell what hair type you have and accomplish a blow out the right way maybe they should consider a different career. I wish I remembered her name to share. Heavy set lady, very short hair. Deep voice, speaks with an accent. She may be great with color and short hair, but certainly not great with blow outs and coarse long hair. I left with hair sticking up in all sorts of directions like I just got electrocuted. Epic fail.

I have been a client of Symi’s for over five years now and visit about every couple of months. I have always been satisfied with the services I received. The staff is always friendly and professional. The owner Sylvia always goes out of her way to make sure I am happy. Nancy does a wonderful facial, too!

I love this place! I’ve had my hair cut a few times now by Sylvia and every time I am very pleased. I have shorter hair so I have to get it trimmed every 4 weeks which can get expensive. Symi’s offers reasonable prices and exceptional service. So glad I found this place!

I am so surprised that I am the first reviewer here. I don’t know where to begin. Basically, for the past 12 years or so I have had to get my hair done on average 1 – 2 times a week. I never color my hair or anything like that, I just need blowouts and updos for all the events/​weddings and parties I get invited to. As a result, I have tried dozens and dozens of salons from Centreville to Tysons Corner and beyond at other cities I have lived in i.e. Central Asia and Philadelphia.
Here goes! Symi’s receives a five star because they are simply the best, they are a hidden gem in Centreville in a little strip mall in the back. The staff is super super friendly. My very stylish friend whom I thought went to some fancy salon to get her hair done recommended the owner of the salon to me, Sylvia. I told her that I wanted an updo and had a picture on my iphone. I went to a friend’s wedding looking like the bride, that’s how nice my hair turned out. My updo was very intricate yet it looked very natural as if I was born with the style. I told her that I would come to her all the time thus, that she needed to give me a discount so that I could afford to always get my hair done. She told me my price for updos and blowouts. Both were very very reasonable. At the wedding, several people asked me where I got my hair done, now several of them are her regulars as well.
I went to Sylvia several more times for updos and blowouts. My hair is not full, but it’s wavy. Most people make the mistake of making my hair too oily with product because it looks big given all the waves. I explained to her that I wanted a full look yet young at the same time without too much product. All in all, I wanted the kardashian old school waves. I was shocked at the patience Sylvia gave each curl. She told me that in order to create that look I needed to get a blowout and add some curls in a special manner with the curler. Most other salons charge extra to put the curling iron to your hair even if only a few. She included it in the already reasonable blowout price.
I was so scared to walk in one day and find out Sylvia wasn’t there. I panicked but was so happy when I left the salon. Turns out all the stylists are great there. Between my mother and I, we have tried them all out. If Sylvia isn’t there, Diana is also top notch.
Finally, the service is exceptional and they welcome walkins. I have never been turned away as much as I go there. I am just in love with these ladies for making my life easier and more beautiful.
