Mona’s Taco House

Here’s the real deal with this place… it looks like a dump on the outside but the tacos are GREAT! I cruise by all the time and it is closed so apparently it opens for breakfast. Luckily, I went through Castroville this morning and found they were open so I stopped in to try it.
I ordered a chorizo/​potato and bean/​cheese tacos and they were awesome. It is the best churizo I’ve had and the beans were very flavorful. These were the best breakfast tacos I can remember.
I did not go in to order but I was told the place was small. The owner was inside speaking with all the customers, which is a rarity these days, and making fresh salsa and tortillas.
I just can’t explain how much I enjoyed the tacos I got this morning. I’m definitely going back when I get into Castroville at the right time. I’ve heard good things about this place from locals and it didn’t disappoint.

Talk about a dump, this is it. And the food is just as bad. Stay away is all I can say.
