Very disappointed with the last visit here. Arrived here at 5:30pm, 30 mins. before closing and they were already cleaning up the kitchen(empty place). I had a bad feeling but still ordered the Carne Asada Burrito(which by the way is not even worth $ 7.49 for what you get, not much meat inside at all) and the Carne Asada Tacos, to go? As soon as I get home and open the container, I knew what I was in for. Dried out crispy little pieces of meat in both orders, basically inedible? What a waste! So my advice is not to arrive here late or you will get the same dried out pieces of meat? My only guess is the meat was sitting out to long on the flat top(scraps only)? Will have to try again and re-evaluate?

As I type this I’ve been sitting here waiting for two breakfast burritos for TWENTYFIVE minutes. There is not one other customer in here and the girls working behind the counter can’t seem to get it together. The customer service is terrible. I asked for a burrito with no egg because my kids are allergic and they told me that the burrito would be tiny with no eggs. Ummmm no just put more beans in it. Not that difficult. Stillllllllll waiting…

Not sure about the food, but it’s inside the best gas station ever. Cleanest gas station bathroom I have ever seen. Great selection of items to buy. Highly recommend stopping here.

I ordered a vegetable burrito with cheese, it was edible but not nothing to rave about. I was expecting something a little more authentic. I was also very disapointed because they forgot the cheesewhich, which could have made a difference. They also need a sign that could be read while one is driving by. We drove around for a while until finally realizing it was inside the gas station.

How good can a taqueria in a gas station get? As good at this one. Try the chicken burrito and the veggie samosa. You wont regret it.

Tucked away in the Chevron station of Las Virgenes, it’s a bit unsuspecting, but they do serve delicious breakfast burritos! Took about 10 minutes from ordering to get my food.

Not too shabby! The tacos were pretty tasty. Beans were weird and soup like. Rice was nice. The whole place was very clean. *plus* there is outside shaded seating!

Food seemed relatively fresh yet the flavor was definitely lacking in the chicken burritos me and my girlfriend got. Chicken was bland and needed seasoning or marinade. Veggies like tomatoes and avocado that usually have lots of flavor were lost in the the sea of blandness. The only thing that stood out was the rice and beans which were just OK. We payed for extra cheese yet I could see little cheese or taste much either. Also the burrito was grilled which I was excited about yet the tortilla was still soggy somehow. Still on a search for good Mexican food in the valley.

We tried this place for breakfast on New Year’s day. We had carnitas and carne asada breakfast burritos. The burritos are huge! The tortillas were fresh and the entire burrito was grilled on the outside(kept it from falling apart). The carnitas was good bit had too much cheese. The carne asada was the perfect blend of spicy and savory. You’ll defintely crave these after trying them once!

I’m a hairdresser in calabasas and this place has been suggested to me by a few clients. I was NEVER hesitant about the fact that it was in a gas station. To me that made it more fun and adventure-like! I just never made it around to trying it cuz I don’t take lunch breaks. Well, last night I had a client cancel a highlight/cut appt cuz she was too jet lagged from her trip to Europe. Normally, I’d be frustrated(not gonna lie) about a last minute 1 ½ hour cancellation. I decided not to charge her my cancellation fee(see? I’m nice) and instead I turned it into a great opportunity to try this place! First off, it’s a very clean nice gas station. The staff making the food were very nice. My husband who joined me ordered the same thing I did. 3 taco plate(2 steak, 1 chicken) with rice and beans, extra spicy with jalapeños. To our pleasant surprise, the food was very good! They were generous with their meat and all tacos were topped with the right amount of cilantro, onions and a green salsa. A side of complimentary chips came with it. The rice was good. The beans? Just ok. Very thin and watery with little flavour. Needed salt for sure. They give you two salsas on the side. The green one that went on the tacos and a red one. I dumped the red one in the beans and got some salt. That saved that. The green went on the tacos. They have a lovely shaded seating area WITH a ceiling fan! Not sure why that ceiling fan impresses me but it does. All in all, I definitely recommend this place! I can see it getting crowded as many people go out of their way to eat here(like me), and, many people probably eat here before heading to the beach. Those are the pros. Cons-beans(already addressed that) Slooow-got there at 1:10. Only two people ahead of us. Got our food a good 20 minutes later, while aimlessly wandering the inside of the gas station. I would never have made it back in time for my next client if this was only a one hour lunch break. I really did need the entire 1 ½ hour. Definitely NOT fast food, in any sense of the word. So, plan accordingly and get you some«gas station tacos», as that is what I’ll be calling them from now on. FYI, the two people before me ordered a steak, rice, bean and cheese burrito and a grilled turkey sandwich. Yes, they have a couple regular sandwiches on the menu. Both looked amazing!

If this is the best that Calabasas has to offer, you might want to skip it all together. I got a carne asada torta. It was ok. Not bad, but not amazing. Spicy with decent flavor, but nothing extraordinary… No seating and the beans were like water… Rice was ok. I asked for extra salsa and they wanted to charge me. I’m glad I didn’t buy any extra because the salsa was mediocre as well.

Like some of the other reviews, I was hesitant to try this place, I mean it’s in a gas station off of Malibu Canyon after all. I’m glad I gave in. Had one of the best carnitas burritos I’ve had in ages. Everything was extremely fresh and tasted really amazing. The carnitas was juicy and tender but had a nice sear on the outside to give it a great texture and taste. If you can get past the fact that it’s in a gas station you won’t regret it. Very limited menu, but what they do, they do really well. Gave this a few more weeks and tried it again, it’s still really good but can’t give it a 5.

Never would have thought it would be this good. My neighbor sang this places praises for a long time and I just wouldn’t get food from a gas station. He finally brought me home a few tacos and said eat em if you like. They are delicious with quality ingredients. Eat here at least once a week for lunch now. It’s getting popular so call ahead or there is a long wait

Well this was quite the surprise. I was pumping gas and came in to the convenience store to find this place! They make the food rather quickly, so you can go in and get gas gas, order food, and then pay all at once at the register. The food doesn’t taste like«authentic» Mexican food, or whatever that means, but rather a more Americanized Mexican food. That being said, it was still delicious, and they did a really good job with the steak burrito. The meat was tender and juicy, and veggies and the rice complimented the meat well, and the burrito overall was just a really good eat. Great choice for lunch, and quite a big of a surprise to find in the middle of a gas station convenience store.

You wouldn’t believe that the Mexican joint in the Chevron gas station in Calabasas was delicious, but it is. Now my local lunch stop, their steak burrito is my go to. Note the jalapeños are actually very spicy so tread lightly. Order will take a good 5 min or so to process but it’s worth the wait for a grab and go lunch.

I would like to take a moment to thank Unilocal for showing me this delicious mexican food. Dont go to chipotle, dont go to qdoba, freebirds, baja fresh, sharkys… GOHERE. Food from a gas station? Ya its weird but let go of those inhibitions and live a little! This place is sooo good. Ive had the tacos and the burrito, both are superb and on the spicy side! This place should get guacamole, better salsa, and should seriously consider getting a place of their own if they want to be serious money makers ;)

This spot is why you use Unilocal.Seriously. When would you think you would find great Mexican food at a Calabasas gas station?! Um, not in my lifetime. Las Virgenes Taqueria reminds me of SY Burrito in Santa Ynez, great Mexican food tucked into a convenience store — a business within a business if you will. I’ve had both the chicken and the carnitas burritos and both are excellent. The chicken is all white meat chicken(no mystery meat), and the carnitas is made up of small pieces of pork that are grilled until crispy. Both burritos are outstanding and I agree that Las Virgenes Taqueria is the best Mexican food in Calabasas — fresh and high quality ingredients with unique and tasty menu items. A couple of caveats, 1) Food is made to order and as such, it takes some time — this is probably the only reason why you would go to the Taco Bell down the street… on second thought, there is no excuse to go to the Taco Bell down the street, just plan accordingly. 2) many of their items have jalapenos in them — if you don’t like spice, be sure to make a request during your order. 3) Once you order, you pay at the gas station register(you can pay before your order is done). I wish I could keep this place my little secret, but that would be a shame. I hope Las Virgenes Taqueria is wildly successful — who knows, maybe they’ll soon be able to open a second location.

Oh my! «Drive to the Chevron off of La Virgenes for a yummy burrito», how could this be? Really!!! A gas station taco stand? I never get anything more than a Snickers bar at a gas station. Craving street tacos, I gave it a try… it’s AMAZING. Really yummy carne asada taco. Enough for two meals. :)

Hey Calabasas! This is the spot for Mexican food! The tacos are great, the burritos are insane and their salsa is fantastic. Know what else is nice? You can pay with your credit card! Carnitas Burrito — promise, you’ll enjoy it!
