Sonny’s BBQ

Trying to keep the carbs to a minimum so decided to stop into Sonny’s for meat! We ordered the brisket lunch, the burger, half rack of babybacks, and the AYCE St Louis rib special. Everything was pretty good. Babybacks weren’t as tender as I prefer but the St Louis did not disappoint. We ordered seconds of the wet style ribs because the dry rub version was a little tough. Service was in point!

Sonny’s BBQ, Pine Island, Cape Coral, FL. Here is some chit chat and 2 cents on the food.
I got this meal half price on tax day. See Pic. It was sweet and smokey ribs with 2 sides.
They advertise as award winning ribs. I would like to know who are these people who give this award.
Now the ribs are fall off the bone. Pretty meaty. Smokey. BUT no way sweet enough. Plus for 14.00 bucks I should get more meat.
I will say this, the sides, in this case are good. Mac and cheese and green beans. I love them.
Also a side note… Sonny’s has a very decent salad bar. Fresh, many choices and all you can eat.
Even carnivores like myself need greeen once in the while.
The employees do a brilliant job.
So take what you will of my 2 cents.

I’ve been in the area almost three years and am sorry I waited that long to try Sonny’s! Especially the CC location– everything is so good! From the sweet tea to the sides– there’s so much to eat and pick from! Apps too! Also, being someone that doesn’t eat red meat I happily have many options to choose from. My favorite is the half chicken with the mild sweet sauce on the side for dipping. The corn nuggets are the best app-​sweet, crunchy, a little salty! The sweet tea is not too sweet! We get consistently good food and service at this location.

Excellent ribs. Fall off the bone and very flavorable. I had the rib sampler which had a half rack of baby back and a half rack of dry rub. They were very different but equally as good. My wife had a half rack of sweet and smokey. My sides were BBQ beans and Cole slaw, my wife had Cole slaw and green beans. Portion sizes were rift on. We both went in very hungry and left satisfied. When we were leaving, which was close to closing time the staff were cleaning the front waiting benches, I though that was impressive.

I have never had a bad meal at Sonny’s. I was disappointed when I asked to switch pulled pork for beef brisket on my pick three and I was told I would have to pay an up charge of $ 3.99. As often as I and my friends come here, why an up charge? I would still recommend the bbq but maybe when a more customer friendly manager is on duty if you want a substition.

We have tried to continue business with our local Sonnys (close to home) on several occasions now and it seems this is just not the location to be a patron. Incredibly rude, disrespectful, and demeaning experience last night.
We have had minor issues each time we have visited, but this last one was final straw. My family of four came in about 15 minutes before closing (unbeknown to us at the time, we thought they closed an hour later –we usually eat earlier when we visit) and at first nothing seemed wrong as the hostess greeted us. She disappeared for a moment (which I now gather was to see which server left wanted us) and came back grabbed some menus and asked us to follow her.
We reached our seat and as my two children went to slip in, she says in an annoyed fashion– «We close in 5 minutes so if you want to look at the menu really fast.» My wife and I look at each other and I ask if they’re still serving food– her response «Well.yes– but we’re closing so if you hurry up and look at the menu». At which point I tell my family — Lets go! And we make our way around the seats. An older server was standing right next to us when this all happened and nothing was said as we walked away– nothing remotely trying to fix the situation or explain we must have misinterpreted — that we were in fact perfectly welcome to stay and eat– nothing– they just followed behind us as we walked to the exit.
As we approach near the exit one of the servers that were sitting in a nearby booth rolling silverware laughs and says «have a good night» in a condescending singing tone– obviously happy to see us leaving. At this point my wife stops and asks for a manager. Apparently the general manager had left for the evening so a bar tender came over and said she was acting manager. My wife explained the situation and the only thing she said was — Well, you’re more than welcome to stay– and my wife replied — ‘I think it’s pretty obvious we are anything but welcome right now’ and asked when the GM would be back in– we were handed the GMs card and we made our way out the door.
*My wife spoke with the GM today, and though she seemed concerned for the experience and did reiterate that if the doors are not locked– then they are open and should be serving, that was the extent of conversation. She did ask IF we came in again to let her know and provided her normal schedule, and did apologize.
Bottom line: We enjoy Sonnys and have not had such bad experiences at other locations, so as a brand we will visit– but not this location.

I’ve been to this location multiple times. It’s okay for BBQ. I especially like their salad bar. Service is always great. I’m just not amazed by the restaurant. It’s good for a decent dinner and to spend some time with family.

Great food, service was impeccable. Prices are great for the quality of food… Which is great. We had the all you can eat ribs for 14.99 they were meaty and delicious.

Used to eat here a couple times a month, but had slowed down for the last six months because of previous issues. Went back for lunch today and was disappointed again. The food was pretty good, but the restaurant needs a good cleaning. The dividers between the rows of booths were caked in dust (Yes, those are my fingerprints swiping through the dusty lines). Food crumbs littered the area around where the napkins and sauces sit. Other issues I noticed today were that some of the seats are ripped and need to be replaced (or fixed) and the light bulbs over the tables are way too bright and tend to blind you if you glance up. Service today was incredibly slow, but maybe because the place was about half full and they never have enough servers working. My concern on seeing a dirty restaurant is the condition of the kitchen. Please clean up and fix your seating areas. Considering that this restaurant is right in there with three or four others, it’s easy to see why their parking lot is usually more empty than full.

Haven’t been in a very long time because the last two times we attempted to eat here, we actually walked out because we couldn’t be seated (they weren’t busy, so explain that). Tonight their was no wait, they sat our party of 6 in the bar. The bar tender was our waitress and was delightful. Happy to speak to the children just like the adults which is a huge deal to me because my 8 year old is an old man and loves to order for himself and talk. She gave us a five minute warning as we had a diabetic who needed to take his meds.
When the food arrived it looked better than it ever has and I was super excited, however, upon first bite, it was only room temperature. It turned cold quickly and was less than enjoyable. I boxed mine and brought it home to heat and eat later. My sister — in — law had Mac n Cheese that was ice cold in the center… Sad.
Needless to say, we agreed that next time we’d pick something different.

I had the food it was great the ribs pork and chicken were nice moist and meaty. when i ate at the resturant the fries were overseasoned for my liking

Fast friendly service, delicious food, reasonable prices, what’s not to love? I’ll be back and feel lucky to be there whenever I go. The even ask if they can give you a drink to go although I never do. High recommend. Food comes in minutes.

My daughter called to tell me her Sonny’s meal was unsatisfactory last night which reminded me… where it appeared as if a member of Sonny’s inquired as to the specifics of my horrible experience in April, no one actually has. So, I just didn’t want to leave it like they actually contacted me to learn about the details needed to fix the problems. Plenty of better dining choices in the area, don’t waste your time and money. Thank you!

The place was ok. Wasn’t so full when we came on so that was a bad sign. I know down south we like ourselves some ribs. I had a pretty big meal being a pretty small person. The meal consisted of Texas toast, Mac and cheese and baby back ribs and pink lemonade. half of those things were good. Our waiter was a professional lady. Not so friendly but super qualified. We were all skeptical of
mom and dad had a dry rub. My grandma and grandpa had sides and my grandpa had ribs and sides and we all had drinks. I am a big foody so I would be more critical of things. The sides were pretty bad. There were flies in the windowsill. Some of the stuff was badly kept. But it’s BBQ who would drive by. You know what they say.” Don’t judge a book by its cover“I hate to give bad reviews but for this one I must.

I don’t understand the low reviews, this is great barbque and we get sampler for 4 for 40 bucks and it’s a great deal

We ate dinner there last night. The place was really empty and only a few tables. Service was good as usual, but I have had an upset stomach ever since. My husband reminded me that this happened the last time we ate there as well when they aren’t buy. Maybe the food sits around longer than it should and isn’t fresh or something, I don’t know. This will probably be our last visit. :(

Leave this place for the vacationers. Outside looks inviting, even inside is, just ok. But there’s something missing here. I felt the staff here projects this feeling as well. And the food didn’t feel like it was made from the heart, very formulaic.

Sonny’s ist wirklich eines der besten Restaurant’s für BBQ Restaurants die wir je besucht hatten. Wir hatten z.b. das Pulled Pork Diner, das war Pulled Pork, Sliced Pork, Ribs und Cole Slow dazu backed Beans. Eswar ein Gedicht. Auch die anderen Speisen wie Hähnchen, Steaks, Turkey etc. sind von toller Qualität. Man vermutet bei einem Kettenrestaurant nicht das dort solch eine Qualität angebotewn wird. Das Restaurant hat eine sehr schöné Einrichtung, man Sitzt hier sehr bequem, was ja bei vielen Restauran’s nicht unbedingt der Fall ist. Auch das Personal hat seinen teil dazu beigetragen den positiven eindruck von Sonny’s zu verfestigen. Hier kommt man gerne wieder her.

We thought we would try one more time but was mistake. First off, waited in lobby for 5 minutes just to be greeted. Then sat, ordered drinks, they were out of all soda, fortunately we do not drink soda at dinner. Then when ordering told out of Beef Brisket. Ordered something else, sons pulled BBQ sandwich good he said, our string beans like rubber, canned. Wife never got her cole slaw. Food was Luke warm. Oh well, noticed Shrimp Shack closed, Sonny’s will not be far behind. Basically no pride in food served.

The serving sizes are nice and the BBQ sauces are very tasty!
The service is rather slow. Our waitress never filled up our water glasses and the kitchen messed up two of three of our dinners.
If you are starving it’snot a bad place to go, just don’t get your hopes up.

I was in the mood for some barbecue and Sonny’s definitely hit the spot! They offer large portions for very reasonable prices. My dining companion and I shared an appetizer, had a full rack of ribs and a combo platter plus a soft drink each for under $ 40 with tax and tip. Their Sizzling Sweet sauce is
