I’ve never been to a Quickly that was frequented by so many white people. It was cool watching high school students trying to figure out the difference between a slush and a snow and asking for the«big balls». I got a big slush(no balls thanks), and nearly fell asleep in traffic. I should have gone to Peet’s instead.

After realizing that Caltrain had recently cut the train that I wanted to take to work in the morning, so I went over to get a stop gap for lunch. Man this place is small. The guy behind the counter was just setting up so I got a quick almond snow drink to go. It reminds me something out of new york a kitchen with a counter right up to the sidewalk. Pretty quick friendly service but not much ambiance to speak of unless you consider sitting on the sidewalk in front of a counter ambiance

In a particularly gangsta power move, I went to the gyro place on Bgame Ave and headed over to Quickly for a Jasmine Green Milk Tea with Tapioca balls(teehehe…balls). Anyways, it took the girl 2 seconds to ring it up, 2 seconds to make it, and I was out the door. Unfortunately, they also have froyo here(???), so I’ve managed to beg one of my coworkers to go down and get me some(they have yet to leave but I’m SURE they will… please?) It’s notable though, that my stomach hurts now, and the Milk Tea isn’t as good as Fantasia, but wth. I’ll take what I can get. Like I usually do in life. This review was brought to you by Ria, who is currently in a seething mood right now.

This place is like the McDonald’s of Bubble Tea. It’s absolutely ridiculous. The tea just sits there for God knows how long, they pour some ice in it, seal it up and ship it out. Ask a simple question about the bubble(tapioca balls) like, «will the tapioca balls get hard in a few hours if I don’t drink it right away?» and I got the«como?» equivalent of whatever Asian language the poor girl manning the CASHONLY register that’s right by the door(security issues anyone?) This place is tiny, no place to sit, no visual of what the drink are like, Chinese pop music blaring on a t.v. behind the register and no explanation to someone who may not know what jackfruit, lychee or taro might be. I’d try to give it no stars but because the other Quickly’s are better, they’re saved. If anyone wants a real bubble tea, try Ten Ren’s or anyone in Chicago, head to Joy Yee’s. You know what I’m talking about.

I’ll be honest — to me bubble tea is bubble tea. A crazy drink to chew once in a while. It tastes about the same from Quickly as it did at Tea Celsius. They have some interesting looking snack choices — fried small octopus — that I might have to try sometime, when I’m in the mood for fried. Why do these places always open at 11? I want my tea closer to 9AM!

The Taro Slush is awesome! It’s nice to stop by and grab a drink on the way home or on a hot day. The servers are nice and they get drinks made fast. I haven’t tried the food, because I think of Quickly as more of a place for drinks than food.
