Art and Alicia are great people, and very pleasant to deal with. However, I don’t hire my contractors for their nice personality — I usually hire them for the work they do. The only reason this review gets 2 stars is really for their demeanor. I hired Art for 2 things: 1. Painting 2. Masonry Work The painting was completed decently. Some of the promised work(caulking, redoing tape, etc.) was not completed. The bigger issue was the masonry work. I had a crack in some external bricks that needed to be fixed. Based on talking to Art, I felt I could trust him with this work; that turned out to be a mistake. The work was 90% done in December — his people did work that looks, to put it mildly, terrible. Additionally, Art did not come to finish the remaining 10% of work, even though I gave him some time. While some delays were weather related, on other days, Art told me he/his people would do the work — and it never happened. Very unsatisfied with the work and experience.

I was given Arthurs contractor information from a friend of mine who said he was awesome. She did not lie! He helped me recognize the issues with my old ‘New York charm’ apartment building and gave me some quick fixes and some advice for the more involved stuff. He was very efficient with his work. After quickly finding that he was the cheaper option than most contractors, he helped me out! I saved a TON of money. So grateful. Stopped into the store one day to thank him and check out the shop he was telling me about(and to grab some new stuff for my apartment). They were running a clothes and toy drive for a battered women’s charity, which made my heart melt. They are very involved with the local community and have a great space for showcasing artists! I bought a few of the light fixtures they had on display and they look AMAZING in my place. I can’t thank WalkThrough NY/BK enough :)
