Good drinks, good beer and shot specials, solid ambience. Nice backyard. All in all a well rounded bar.

You gotta love this neighborhood bar. Katie on Thursdays always has a groovy low key vibe going, Pete(Burgy, inside joke) on Fridays makes sure your weekend starts off on a high and Adam on Saturdays and Sunday’s, the best football buddy that never fails. After a pint here, your home.

Great beer selection at a range of prices and styles as well as one of the best pool tables in Greenpoint. Great staff too.

Great neighbourhood spot for enjoying a few drinks after work or for sporting events. I have been coming in here as of late to watch Rangers playoff games. Great service, solid drinks and the furthest thing from bright or pretentious.

Cool bar but the owner’s son is a little prick and hangs around with his Greenpoint bros hogging the pool table

I like this place a lot. They have a $ 5 shot/beer special, there’s one bartender who’s super awesome, everyone else is medium awesome/okay, music is usually pretty good, and the crowd is chill. The backyard area is great too — but you’re bound to smell like cigarette smoke, so if that bothers you — — prob not the best place to sit. The only reason I took away one star is because they got rid of the dart board. :’(

Shayz(despite the weirdly cheesy name) is a great neighborhood place. The bartenders are friendly, the drinks are good and strong, and the atmosphere is very cozy. A wood-burning fireplace in the winter seals the deal. Plus, it is CRAZY on St. Patrick’s Day there. A Greenpoint must!

The Diet Coke @ Shayz Lounge was cool. It came served in a glass with Ice and a straw along with a wedge of fruit.
Sometimes I really want to drink alcohol. Don’t get me wrong I love the Diet Coke but it does not loosen me up, make me want to yell WHOO ! or even slightly give the me the urge to make a jackass of myself. Unfortunately for me the lady I was hanging with on this particular night had that covered for both of us…(: I did not overdue it this time… I only urinated once about an hour later and it was a healthy stream.

Possibly the best place to get a drink and have a chat in New York. Cozy, warm, candle-lit, friendly. All the bartenders are great and the drinks are inexpensive. I went there one time with a friend who was feeling stuffy and Mary, one of the best bartenders in Brooklyn, made her a hot toddy. Another time I went there and one of the male bartenders received a singing telegram from a guy in a gorilla costume. If you have ever been disappointed that you couldn’t find a quiet bar that is still cool, worry no longer. Shayz is your place. Actually, now that I think how much I love the ambiance… Shayz is terrible. You should probably stay away and never go there.(*bad poker face*)

Shayz Lounge is a pretty laid back bar. It looks like a small bar but it’s kinda roomy. They have a few beers on tap and several bottle and can beers. I enjoy the laid back atmosphere in here but there’s just lack of entertainment. There are some LCDTV’s and all but it gets awfully boring in here fast for some odd reason whenever I’m here. I’m not looking for a flirtatious bartender or anything but I guess it’s just the boring ass topics hipsters tend to talk about. Service — Good but odd. They’ll serve you and then walk to the other side of the bar and act like you got the cooties. With that said, for a rainy night, they still had a decent amount of people in the bar. I’ll give them props for that. Ambiance — Laid back as I said before but quite hipsterish. I like the art work on their walls but there’s just a big lack of entertainment. Verdict — It’s definitely not a bad bar in Greenpoint. It’s not my favorite bar but I’ll still go if a couple of friends happen to be there. Finding parking can be difficult sometimes but I wouldn’t recommend drinking and driving. The Greenpoint train station is just 2 – 3 blocks away but keep in mind its the horrific G train…

I popped in here before a reading at Word, just down the street. Fortunately, I came during the best Happy Hour in the world. I got some craft brews for $ 3 – 4, stuff that would normally cost $ 6 – 8 on a Friday night! I happily sipped my beer in the laid back atmosphere. Bartender seemed to be friendly, the other patrons where not done up, over-it scene kids, but dare I say real adults? There’s a lovely outdoor patio and some nice window seats for those who like to people watch. Its definitely a great place to just meet up with friends. Next time I’m in Greenpoint I’ll pop in for a few! edit to say CASHONLY, fyi.

Despite having a name that’s a contender for the worst bar name in Brooklyn, Shayz Lounge manages to remain a great neighborhood bar, as long as the patio remains open. It manages to avoid being too crowded, the beer selection is good and the prices are reasonable, and the general atmosphere is quite chill and cool. Once the patio gets closed, however, you’re stuck in a bar that has only moderately loud music and a TV where you can see it from anywhere in the room. If you like going to a bar where the TV is on all the time, this is great, but I hate TVs in non-sports bars with a fiery passion. Between bars where you can’t hear anyone and bars with TVs on all the time, I’ll take the later, all the time. If you don’t have my neuroses or spend all your time on the lovely patio, this is a great bar. Inside, it’s still pretty good.

My favorite Irish bar in New York. There’s always a great beer on tap and they’re cheaper than any other bar in the neighborhood. Great outdoor space and a big long bar. Owners and bartenders are superb. Can’t wait for St. Paddy’s there.
