One of the great place with all the Italian’s traditions. The owner is very welcoming and making food himself. Good food. Great customer service.

I have been coming here for almost 30 years and it is always my first stop when I am visiting from California. So great I even make it my last stop out and take pizza back home wrapped and packaged up. The sauce is taste and the pizza is cheesy. My favorite pizza ever and I only wish I could have it more often!

This was my first, and last experience with Grotta. The customer service is poor at best and response time is even worse. I am currently 45 minutes outside of my delivery window and still waiting for my food. I contacted the restaurant 25 minutes ago and they said it would be here in one to two minutes. They have since ignored my calls. I contacted the app through which I placed the order and they advised me the food was on the way. As I was writing this, the food arrived. The delivery person was unprofessional dropping«F bombs» explaining how busy they were. I have not even been able to enjoy the food because the containers they used were damaged which resulted in multiple sauces leaking through the box. I know these are first world problems, but… never again.

I have been eating here over 20 years run by the nicest Family around such pleasant people — some of the best Italian food Brooklyn has to offer — where ever I move around Brooklyn I always still eat here or order from. Pizza and Pasta dishes are delicious and the best Sausage rolls anywhere — trust me awesome food.

Well I just want to say that I ordered for a delivery from this place today. The chicken roll was too doughy. The Tortellini Alfredo was good, not the best I’ve ever had but still good. I had also ordered a baby pizza which I didn’t receive. I called back and they sent it out right away. 15 minutes later I had my baby pizza which is also the reason why this place is even getting that third star! The baby pizza is amazing! Just like my Nonna use to make it when I was younger. I took one bite and it was like a little trip down memory lane. I hope the people from this place read these reviews! Working in a restaurant, I realized how serious these reviews are! BABYPIZZA = PERFECTION!

Ordered take out from here. And granted it’s never the same as it is in the restaurant, this was just bad. I ordered veal Marsala, and it literally looked like veal cutlets over breaded with gray sauce. My husband said it was not edible. I also ordered wings and a salad. The wings were slimey, greasy and undercooked. The salad was the only thing that we ate. Very, very dissappointed.

This clean little non-descript Mom & Pop pizzeria-restaurant with a difficult name to remember, and not on the gps, tucked away just behind 86th Street off 21st Ave is the original hidden gem! OMG! HANDSDOWNTHEBESTBROOKLYNROUNDSLICE I HAVEEVERHADINMYLIFE! SHEERHEAVEN! — and I have tried them all. The crust is thinned and crisped to unparalleled perfection! The smooth sauce is amazing!!- not overly sweet… just phenominal! Again, from foldability, to the crust-mootz-sauce ratio, to the quality and texture of ingredients — absolute blended perfection has truly been attained! Nothing can beat this place, better than all the others! — Although this review comes from a Brooklyn round slice maven, on the way out I saw chicken caesar slices pop fresh out of the oven that looked absolutely to die for, so will be heading back for that soon. It’s hard to believe nobody has reviewed this place yet! I think it’s because it’s a hard name to remember and they are not on the GPS. Wow! Talk about being over-looked! Best pizza ever!!! Do not miss!!!

five stars isn’t enough for this place! Everything there is delicious, my personal fave though is their baked ziti!!! I always get it well done, and they are the only ones who make it just how I love it! Their sausage and peppers is another fave of mine. Their sauce is delish! I have been going there for a few years already, and even though I moved out to Staten Island, I still make it my business to go there a few times a month. Andrea, his family, and all of the other workers there are so great and helpful. They are very accommodating, we had 2 birthdays over there, even though it is a pretty small place, but it worked out both times. Their catering is great, food is always perfect, and they will never disappoint you. I recommend this place over any other place, by far!

Ordered the baked ziti and buffalo wings. NEVERAGAIN. The baked ziti was not what i expected. It was oily on the bottom. It was actually nauseating. I tried eating what i can make of it but it was gross. According to the other reviewers, the pizzas are good but do not try the pasta dishes. What the hell was i thinking when i ordered this? The buffalo wings were just downright nasty… i threw it all out. See my picture posted. what a waste of $$$$!

The best pizza in the neighborhood is served here! I gladly walk past inferior pizzarias to get the authentic Brooklyn style pizza made the right way with the finest of ingredients. Looking to dine in, take out, or have your order delivered? Choose Grotto Azzurra… you will be glad you did!

The delivery service, or maybe the reviewing and packaging of orders to be delivered, was subpar. I spent nearly an hour deciding where to order from the other day, and in the end my decision centered on a place that had good reviews and Diet Coke(you’d be surprised at how many menus do not have Diet Coke). I’ve been including more detailed directions to help delivery people easily find my correct gate and buzzer and this has helped immensely. It didn’t help yesterday’s delivery guy, but I am ok with that. What I can’t deal with is not receiving my Diet Coke. I discovered this after I walked upstairs. I ran downstairs and saw him drive away. I debated whether or not to let it slide, but I pay for this stuff and I decided I need to stop being so nice and start acting like I really live in New York. I called him and told him I needed my Diet Coke. He didn’t seem to understand what I was saying at first, but finally agreed to come back. He came back and handed me a can of Pepsi. I am not even going to get started on the difference between diet vs. regular and Coke vs. Pepsi. All I can say is when I request a particular beverage, I am not asking for a different one. When I explained that I specifically ordered a Diet Coke and that I don’t drink Pepsi, he said it was all that he had and to just take it. I’m pretty sure the Pepsi was from another order. I’m sorry if you ordered from Grotta Azzurra last night and did not get your soda. It’s sitting in my fridge, cold and pointless. The food itself, eggplant parmigiana and ziti tasted fine. Portion size is decent.

I’ve lived in this neighborhood for many years and this is just about the only place left that is still run authentically. Pizza is great and fresh and I love their grilled chicken salad(make sure the get it with their home made dressing). My kids eat chicken fingers with French fries and the fries are home made of real potatoes… None of that frozen stuff.

Well, well, well, I am surprised at this place. I really didn’t expect the pizza to be that good. I looked at the outside and thought to myself, just another hole in the wall that won’t live up to my expectations. Well, my first impression was wrong. I gave Grotta Azzurra 4 stars instead of 2(please remember, I don’t do 3 stars) because of two things. First, the service. The wife and husband are adorable and so friendly. Maybe it is just me, but I love friendly service and I love it when you can actually talk to the owner. Second, the grandma pizza is really delicious. I enjoy it so much I usually buy a whole(12 squares of grandma) when I come here. I like how it is not as oily as other pizza and incorporates a lot of sauce and grated cheese. I also suggest eating this pizza right away for best taste. The Cons: If you are looking for a regular slice then there are other places and if you are looking for a square, just walk to L&B. Closing thoughts: GRANDMAPIZZAALLTHEWAY!

As the rating says, it’s A-ok; nothing special. Average pizza, but overpriced w/soda. With so many Pizzerias on 86st. I guess only locals eat at this one as it’s way off 86st. I went in as I like to try new places. even if I had to walk there and then back. Décor was nice, and it was clean. Prices in menu seemed a bit high. Thus, I’ve had better and worse pizzas, but will try another joint when I am on 86st again.

Excellent thin crust pizza and Italian food. Especially love their meat sauce, chicken &broccolirabe sub, and sausage and peppers. again, one of the best slices of plain pizza in Brooklyn.
