Super friendly crew, delicious pastries, good coffee. Their special /most popular breakfast sammie is the P.L.T. — pancetta, lettuce, tomatoes on a croissant. They also have a bunch of home goodies here(tea towels, «fire cider» which is a great ingredient to cook with, and other things).

Wow that hot bird sandwich that I just had is something. Just the right amount of cheesiness and delicious turkey. I’d absolutely some back and try their other house sandwiches. The girl behind the counter is very friendly and super nice.

I would like to be to give this place 4 stars but they would rather put your iced tea back after it’s been poured instead of running your credit card for $ 4.90 with a $ 5 min. I understand the concept of a minimum but for ten cents it’s a bit ridiculous. They just wasted more money but dumping out the iced tea. It’s a neighborhood place and one I highly doubt I will be returning to.

I love cheese and I love having this spot in the neighborhood. It’s cute and the staff is friendly and they offer a great selection. However, the cheese is a bit pricey and that often keeps me away. If the sandwiches were a little bigger and they offered avocado on them I would be here all the time!

If I could give this little slice of heaven on Fulton street more than 5 stars, I would. Everything at BKV is expertly curated, from their delicious meats and cheeses to the adorable little gifts. We are always greeted with a friendly welcome, and everyone knows us by name. This is the type of store that makes our neighborhood feel like home. Eat everything here and make friends with the staff.

My previous review stands — you offer dried up, tiny slivers of what used to be parmesan and charge more than anyone should ever pay for that. I’m not a hater — I support small businesses that provide good stuff. You’re not cutting it overall.

OMG the Rambeau sandwich. Just: OMG. Pastrami, gouda… homemade Russian dressing… bliss in every bite. Plus it’s fun to browse the beautiful(expensive) local goods they keep in stock. But mostly: THERAMBEAU…

I came here today for a bagel and coffee. The food and coffee were good but service was real slow.

I love this place– the atmosphere is great, the people are nice and all the food looks amazing… and then you look at the prices. I understand that their products are created justly and that raises prices but I definitely think the place is overpriced. That being said, I buy some things there, just avoid the whole part of the café that is not behind the counter. Make sure to try the Hot Bird… it is AMAZING!

The Hotbird sandwich may consistently be one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever eaten in my life. Love it!

A cute little yuppy shop in Clinton Hill. A sweet little shop selling, great cheeses, delicious sweet treats, good coffee and fun housewarming gifts. Tiny and sweet shope with great beer options. Also a nice assortment of gluten free snacks.

Here’s the thing I love: they clearly label which cheeses are from cows, which are from sheep, and which are from goat(and which are a mix). The store also lists whether vegetarian rennet is used. I seem to have struck upon this place when it was super busy, and the line took a while to get through. But with a bit of patience(and a little extra cash) you’ll find some great treats here. The cheese was scrumptious. And, as a bonus, they clearly mark what is locally sourced. Verrrrry Brooklyn.

BVG is not cheap and you should not expect it to be. But everything is high quality and very good. Their scones and muffins are well worth the price(bran muffins are so good they’re even good from the day-old basket!), hot & iced coffee are both really good, and the lox and fish spread are amazing. But…they recently switched from AMAZING bagels to using Bergen Bagels and it’s SOSAD. Their old bagels were probably the best I’ve ever had and, as you can see in my review of Bergen, I think BB is totally sub-par. PLEASE, BVG, bring back the old bagels!!! They also have lots of Brooklyn-made products, fresh meat, growlers of beer, and a really nice cheese counter. Again, nothing is cheap, but I’ve never been disappointed with anything I’ve bought there. It would be great if they hooked up with a greenhouse though, because the«only within X miles of NYC thing» means no tomatoes, etc. for their bagels/sandwiches in the winter.

Every time I’m nearby I get a chocolate chip cookie(a steal at $ 2). They’re big, chewy, with a teeny sprinkle of sea salt on top. I haven’t let myself try one of the whoopie pies because I think I have enough elastic-waisted clothes. Like others have said, the prices can be steep, so I usually don’t get more than coffee and my cookie. But I appreciate that they make certain niche foodstuffs available in this neighborhood, and I know where to go if I want to get fresh cheese curds and try my hand at poutine. Today I picked up a couple bottles of beer I’d never heard of(about $ 2.50 each) and was happy to recognize a friend’s small biz product on the shelves. They play nice music and the people who work there are insanely nice. I’m a fan, but Biggie probably wouldn’t be.

Muffins from Blue Sky Bakery are always delicious. I try to buy them after 5 p.m. or day old because then they’re half off($ 1.62 versus $ 3.25). Coffee is okay. They use Brooklyn Roasting Company and it’s better than most coffee in the immediate vicinity but not great. Some of the gift-y/home items can be found for a better price elsewhere, often directly through the product vendor(e.g. Claudia Pearson prints and tea towels). Generally, this place is spendy, especially for the neighborhood. I try not to buy more than the occasional coffee and snack, but they sell some pretty tasty(and expensive) frozen tortellini that I fall for now and again. Despite the prices, I appreciate their focus on quality locally sourced products. (Credit cards accepted for purchases over $ 5. They seem pretty strict on this.)

A cute little shop that sells a great selection of bakes goods, cheeses, organic meats, and other goodies. This is the perfect place to grab a quick cup of coffee or a bag of goodies to eat on the run or snack on in transit. I love buying their MishMosh cookies by the New Yawk Baking Co. This is also my go-to place for my morning cup of joe. The prices are slightly on the high side for their consigned goods, but the vendors are really friendly and efficient which is what keeps me coming back.

I parked in front of this place today at work and decided to check it out before heading home. Everything is local, or somewhat local, and they have a lot of goodies in there to check out. NOTHING is cheap, but don’t go there if you want some cheap eats. Go there if you want some fresh, high quality treats and are willing to spend a few bones. I got ¼lb of soppressata, a jar of salsa, and some wasabi pickles. I wouldn’t make a regular shopping trip out of it but definitely seems like a great place to go before a wine & cheese party :)

Nice spot to grab a sandwich and coffee or pastry on the way home. The Beavy sandwich(cheese and chutney) is delicious and a pretty good deal. Along with your snack, pick up a special grocery item or two — maybe ravioli or ice cream or some chicken, or some fancy butter with sea salt, the subject of not one, but two separate enthusiastic conversations between myself and one of the employees. Or, yknow, a coffee mug, why not. I’d like to see a more varied set of sandwich options(come on, the store is full of cheese!) and — as a late riser, it takes a lot for me to say this — I wish they opened earlier! Locavores and fair trade fans have morning commutes, too!

In the same increasingly contrived vein of BK-centric distributors(BK Farmacy, GGP, etc.), BVG is a primarily locally-sourced little shop with designer items including Blue Marble Pints, Sour Puss Pickles, Balthazar and Amy’s Bread starches, and Baked cookies. It has a bit of a self-righteous air to it, with super friendly folks behind the counter and the kind of mindset that left me with a sense of I-can-afford-this-and-probably-don’t-even-truly-appreciate it White guilt. Fortunately, the $ 3 oatmeal cookie from baked left me unconcerned with this for a few tasty minutes. While I’m sure they have some cliched explanation for the moniker, I don’t see any WWII-caliber virtue in this endeavor.
